Premium brand, questionable service: paying for a manufacturing defect

I own a Miele appliance that failed after only a few years of normal household use. The root cause, confirmed by Miele's own technician, is a defective electronic control board — a core component, not a wear-and-tear part.

What followed was a frustrating and, frankly, questionable experience:

• Miele's initial quote for the board was approximately €500. Because this seemed excessive for a part I hoped could simply be repaired rather than replaced, I consulted an independent technician. The repair attempt was unsuccessful.

• When Miele re-assessed the unit, they quoted the exact same board at €222 — less than half the original price. No explanation was offered for this dramatic discrepancy.

• Miele then used the traces of the (unsuccessful) third-party repair attempt as grounds to add a wiring harness replacement to the bill — a damage they attributed to the independent technician, even though the original defect that drove me to seek outside help was their own board failure.

• Their final "goodwill" offer: 50% off both parts, with labour covered. In practice, I am still being asked to pay for a manufacturing defect on a brand that markets its products with a 20-year lifespan.

The logic here is troubling: Miele's inflated initial quote pushed me to seek an alternative. When that alternative left traces, those traces became a reason to reduce Miele's own liability. The root defect — the board — was never in dispute.

For a premium brand at Miele's price point, I expected a genuine goodwill gesture: covering the defective component in full, with the customer paying only for labour. Instead, I received shifting pricing, partial accountability, and a repair bill that feels like the customer is subsidising a manufacturing failure.

I hope this review helps others set realistic expectations before investing in a Miele appliance.

No response to fraud report after 2+ months

reported a fraud case to BBVA on 4 May 2026 — EUR 2,400 transferred via SEPA into a BBVA account as part of a rental scam. I sent full documentation (police report, transaction records, fraudulent invoice) to three separate BBVA departments, including their dedicated fraud and complaints channels.
The only reply was an automated one from customer service saying they had no access to the information and had forwarded my case internally. Since then: no case number, no confirmation, no update — for almost 8 weeks, despite a follow-up.

Wrongfully charged €140 for bags that fit perfectly in the overhead locker

Flew with easyJet on 24 June 2026, flight EJU7285 from Majorca to Geneva (booking KCMJRHX). My husband and I were charged €70 each at the gate for our cabin bags – despite the fact that both bags fit flat in the overhead locker with room to spare. I have photos taken on board proving this.
We had already paid for hold luggage (2x15kg). We could not check the bags in because we had a family emergency at home – our grandchildren's babysitter was leaving that day and we needed everything with us the moment we landed.
Gate staff gave us zero options: pay or don't board. So we paid €140 for absolutely nothing.
I submitted a formal dispute with evidence to easyJet customer service. Still waiting for a response.
This feels like a money grab, plain and simple. Our bags were compliant. The charge was wrong. I would not recommend travelling with easyJet if this is how they treat paying customers who have done nothing wron

The "20-year lifespan" is a marketing myth. Huge disappointment.

I bought the Miele G 4263 SCVi fully integrated dishwasher in 2019, fully believing the company’s heavy marketing about "German premium quality" and appliances built to last for 20 years. What a massive joke and a waste of premium money.

After just a few years of normal, standard household use, the machine completely died. The diagnostic by an authorized technician revealed that the main electronic board (PCB) failed. To make matters worse, the board cannot be repaired, and a full replacement costs almost as much as a brand-new machine from another brand. Essentially, this "premium" appliance is now expensive plastic and metal scrap.

It is absolutely unacceptable for a luxury-priced brand to have fatal electronic failures so early on. I have owned mass-market, significantly cheaper dishwashers in the past that ran for over 12 years without a single hiccup.

Miele’s famous slogan "Immer Besser" (Forever Better) clearly does not apply to their modern electronics. If you expect a reliable appliance that will last, look elsewhere. Paying a premium price for Miele no longer guarantees premium quality. Utterly disappointed.

Dear Ms. Belogay,

We can fully understand how disappointing this experience has been for you.
Especially when an appliance can no longer be used due to a defect and the repair costs are perceived as disproportionate, this understandably does not meet the expectations you have for our products.
We would like to review your case in detail and understand how this assessment was reached. Please send us your address, your phone number, a copy of your purchase invoice, and the repair report or cost estimate by email to social@miele.de, and kindly refer to your Trustpilot review.
As soon as we receive the documents, our specialist team will review the case internally and get in touch with you.

Best regards, Your Miele team
