I’ve been a long-time customer, but durability of products is questionable
I’ve been a long-time customer of Calida and have generally appreciated the comfort and design of their products. However, my recent experience raises concerns about durability and how the company handles quality questions.
Two pairs of pyjama pants developed tears in the exact same area (seat) after a few years of normal use. This is not something I’ve experienced with comparable brands, where similar garments have lasted significantly longer without structural failure.
When I contacted customer service, I was not seeking compensation or a warranty claim, only a clear answer about expected product lifespan. Instead, I received vague, non-committal responses. While they acknowledged that tearing “can occur” after several years, they avoided giving any concrete indication of what durability standard customers should expect. The tone was polite but ultimately dismissive, focusing more on generic disclaimers (usage, washing, friction) than addressing the core question.
This creates a disconnect: Calida positions itself as a high-quality Swiss brand, but if products fail in this way after relatively moderate use—and the company cannot clearly stand behind their durability—then the value proposition is just a false marketing strategy. Comfort and design are strong, but longevity appears inconsistent.
In comparison, other brands in a similar price range deliver noticeably better durability over time. If this is the expected outcome, it shifts Calida closer to a premium-priced fast-fashion model rather than a truly long-lasting product.
I would still consider buying from Calida, but with adjusted expectations: good feel and aesthetics, but not necessarily long-term durability.
