Unethical behaviour
The flights were average but one of my suitcases was delayed by 3 days and the other by 9 days. After three days I bought a new CPAP (medical) machine for USD1,200. Their customer service offered me a refund based on emergency money advance allowance restricted to Brazilian residents (which I am not) for USD50 per day limited to a maximum of 3 days, so USD250 in total.. They refused to pay for the @replacement@ I wrote to their speak-up service, claiming unethical behaviour but got no reply. I settled for the pittance.
I will not fly with Qatar ever again.
Qatar Airways: Refund Dispute and Extremely Poor Customer Service
Extremely disappointing experience with Qatar Airways – refund issue and poor customer service
I am extremely disappointed with the way Qatar Airways has handled our recent booking and subsequent refund.
Qatar Airways changed our flight itinerary and notified us through their app. Following that notification, we were presented with the option to receive a refund, which we accepted. At the time, there were no clear terms or conditions presented to us stating that accepting the refund would result in a deduction of over £546.20.
We originally paid £1,601.48, but Qatar Airways has only refunded £1,055.28, leaving a shortfall of £546.20.
This was not a situation where we simply decided that we no longer wanted to travel and voluntarily cancelled our flights. We accepted the refund because Qatar Airways had changed our itinerary and then offered us a refund through their own app.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is that, when we accessed our booking after receiving the notification, the return flight was no longer appearing as part of our linked itinerary and appeared to have been substantially changed. This was a significant factor in our decision to accept the refund.
We have repeatedly contacted Qatar Airways asking them to explain exactly why £546.20 has been deducted, what terms and conditions they believe allow them to make this deduction, and how the refund was calculated.
Unfortunately, rather than properly addressing our questions in writing, Qatar Airways are now informing us that they will only discuss the matter by telephone and are not responding to our emails with a substantive written explanation.
This is particularly frustrating because the whole dispute concerns what we were shown in the app and the terms and conditions that applied when we accepted the refund. We believe we should be given a clear written explanation and a copy of the information and terms that were presented to us at the time.
We have asked Qatar Airways to provide the exact calculation of the refund, the schedule change recorded against our booking, the notification offering the refund and the applicable terms and conditions, as well as clarification of whether the refund was processed as voluntary or as a result of their schedule change.
At this point, the issue is not simply the £546.20. It is the lack of transparency and the difficulty we are having getting a straightforward answer to a straightforward question.
I would strongly advise anyone booking with Qatar Airways to keep screenshots and records of any app notifications or changes to their itinerary, particularly if Qatar Airways offers you a refund following a schedule change.
I had expected much better customer service from an airline of Qatar Airways’ reputation.
The main issue I have with them is…
The main issue I have with them is allowing people to use their phones on the plane. I’m talking FACETIME & PHONE CALLS! It’s like a market! When did it get like this? You’ll lose me because of this. It is unacceptable. I’ve been flying with them for over a decade.
Unprofessional Passenger Handling at LHR T4
There was about 15 minutes left to close check in. Three members of family checked in. Fourth one was processing for check in but the staff told that the check in time closed and could not complete the process. The flight was cancelled and I had to pay for whole family again to book for next available flight from LHR to Doha. The staff should able to do it effectively once start processing for check in. It seems very unprofessional and a poor decision making of the site manager. Hope this will not be repeated to other passengers.
I bought 5 comfort tickets that I can…
I bought 5 comfort tickets that I can do free cancellation. When I want to cancel they want to charge me more than 2000$. 2 months they keep saying long story and ignoring me and not replying to my question why you charge cancellation fee. At the end I waisted my money and time. See their cancellation fee for comfort tickets. Don’t trust their tickets rules.you have to read the details and asking .
Qatar takes zero accountability
This airline does not take their business seriously. I was notified of a 10-hour delay for the first leg of my trip for no valid reason, then a 16 hour delay to my second leg because of that. I had a 3rd leg of the trip that I had to make and plans made. They offered zero rerouting solutions except for the same flight the next day, which rendered a 24-hour delay (as the solution, haha) and my 3rd flight, car rental, Airbnb booking and part of my trip unusable. Their customer rep confirmed that the new flights I had to purchase because of this would be covered, but I spent months contacting Qatar's customer service. They had not been responsive; emails took months, and they would not directly answer any questions or take responsibility. How can they not be held responsible when they already said my new flights would be covered. Would avoid at all costs. Also, there are tons of scammers and facebook pages impersonating Qatar Customer Service out there, very likely because its own teams do not respond.
Very disappointing customer service
Very disappointing experience with Qatar Airways. My Edinburgh–Doha flight was delayed by around an hour because the aircraft arrived late, which caused me to miss my Doha–Kochi connection. I was supposed to arrive in Kochi at 8:45 AM but finally arrived at 3:25 PM — almost 7 hours late.
What made it worse was the lack of customer service at Doha. I was sent from one service desk to another trying to get help and was told someone might arrange lounge access, but nobody actually helped. I eventually had to use my own lounge card.
Delays can happen, but Qatar Airways should take responsibility for helping passengers properly when their delay causes a missed connection. Extremely frustrating experience.
Absolutely disgusting service from…
Absolutely disgusting service from Qatar Airways.
Firstly, our departure gate was changed, yet we received no notification about this. This caused unnecessary stress and confusion at the airport.
Secondly, Qatar Airways kept changing the aircraft, which resulted in our pre-selected seat allocations being repeatedly changed. This was extremely frustrating, especially when travelling as a group.
The biggest issue was with our baggage allowance at the Qatar Airways counter in Dubai. There were four of us travelling with a total baggage allowance that should have allowed 100kg between us. However, one suitcase was 30kg, and despite our combined luggage weight being within the overall allowance, the staff refused to accept it and attempted to charge us extra.
It genuinely felt like the staff at the Dubai Qatar Airways counter were deliberately looking for reasons to charge passengers additional baggage fees, rather than providing reasonable customer service and applying common sense.
For an airline that promotes itself as premium and award-winning, the level of customer service we experienced was extremely disappointing. Poor communication, constant aircraft and seat changes, and baggage staff seemingly focused on generating extra charges.
Disgusting service and definitely not the premium experience Qatar Airways advertises. We will seriously reconsider flying with them again.
I wished for zero stars
I wished for zero stars
the airline does its job: delivering people from point A to B but the whole experience is just horrible. the whole mileage thing is problematic. it wasn't even finishing my reservation, the point's on hold, deducted from my account for no reason. the service on board the airline was great. smooth, but the ground and its service tried in every way to charge money like how Ryanair does. milking everything. my luggage was only 0.1 kg more, while some passengers who weigh as much as a whale, could get through easily.
same goes for my shopping bag. they tried so hard to embarrass me by making me unpack my carry-on and squeeze the shopping bag into my carry-on. it was not impossible. Thankfully, the manager at the time came by and stopped the ground staff from doing so and let me in. I'll give 5 stars to her. I have absolutely no idea how Qatar Airways could let this slide for so long. If it was not on geographical transcontinental route, it would not have lasted so long. They must take the business and its products more seriously.
Rebooked me involuntarily to another…
Rebooked me involuntarily to another flight/date on high demand date. No discussions they just do.
Not even worth 1 STAR
Not even worth 1 STAR – Absolutely Terrible Experience with Qatar Airways
I honestly cannot believe how bad our experience with Qatar Airways was. For an airline that is supposed to have such a strong reputation, the level of service and organisation we experienced was absolutely unacceptable.
The experience started at the check-in desks, where the staff were extremely rude, unhelpful and dismissive. Despite our luggage being within our permitted baggage allowance, we were made to remove approximately 20 kg of belongings from our suitcases.
What made this even worse was that this wasn’t luggage we were simply leaving behind. We had to carry those belongings ourselves onto the plane, while travelling with our children. Having to carry an additional 20 kg of luggage through the airport and onto the aircraft was extremely inconvenient, stressful and completely unnecessary — particularly when we were already within our baggage allowance.
The attitude of the check-in staff throughout this situation was extremely poor. There was no understanding or consideration for the fact that we were travelling with children and were being forced to carry a substantial amount of additional luggage ourselves.
The airport facilities were also disappointing, with dirty toilets and poor overall standards.
The flight itself was another disappointment. We were repeatedly subjected to changes to the flight time and aircraft, making the whole journey confusing and stressful.
But the most unacceptable issue was the boarding gate. The gate printed on our boarding pass was on the opposite side of the airport from the actual gate. We were not properly informed about the change, and as a result we were left rushing through the airport and nearly missed our flight.
This was not just a minor inconvenience — it was a serious failure of communication and organisation that could easily have resulted in us missing the flight altogether.
Overall, the entire experience was stressful, poorly organised and completely below the standard I would expect from Qatar Airways. Rude check-in staff, being forced to carry an additional 20 kg of luggage despite being within our allowance, dirty facilities, repeated flight and aircraft changes, and extremely poor communication made this one of the worst airline experiences we have ever had.
For an airline with Qatar Airways’ reputation, this was simply not good enough.
I would seriously think twice before booking with Qatar Airways again. A very poor experience from start to finish.
Outstanding Service on QR16
Outstanding Service on QR16 – London Heathrow to Doha .1 September 20206
I would like to take a moment to share my appreciation for the wonderful experience I had today on Qatar Airways flight QR16 from London Heathrow to Doha.
As always, Qatar Airways provided an excellent journey, but I would especially like to recognize one of the cabin crew members who made my flight even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, I’m sorry that I didn’t catch her name, but she is a Thai flight attendant who was serving my aisle around seat D18.
She was incredibly professional, polite, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the flight. Her warm attitude, smile, and willingness to assist made a real difference and reflected the high standards of hospitality that Qatar Airways is known for.
I sincerely hope this message can be shared with the cabin crew and, if possible, with the crew member herself. Even though I don’t know her name, I hope the airline can identify her from the flight details and the section she was serving.
Thank you to the entire Qatar Airways team for another fantastic journey, and a special thank you to this wonderful crew member from Thailand for making my flight particularly pleasant.
Keep up the excellent work, Qatar Airways!

⭐ 1/5 — Qatar Airways abandoned its passengers
⭐ 1/5 — Qatar Airways abandoned its passengers
One of the worst experiences I have ever had with an airline.
Our Qatar Airways flight from Nairobi was cancelled, but communication was almost nonexistent. Even while the disruption was happening, airport screens were still showing our flight as scheduled/on time. We have photos documenting this.
We spent approximately 9 HOURS at the airport trying to understand what was happening.
We asked for assistance. We asked to speak to a Qatar Airways representative. We even asked for WATER.
Nothing.
No hotel.
No food.
No water.
No proper information.
At one point we were basically told to find somewhere to stay ourselves.
We also have video documentation of our attempts to get basic assistance.
Eventually Qatar Airways rebooked us onto Turkish Airlines, but putting passengers on another flight does not erase what happened during those hours.
Flights can be cancelled. Emergencies and operational problems happen.
But abandoning passengers without food, water, accommodation or meaningful communication is a completely different matter.
Several affected passengers are now documenting what happened and discussing formal complaints and possible legal action.
I expected much better from Qatar Airways.
They changed my flight timings and still charged me after I cancelled
If I could, I would give 0, they changed my flight timings, because the new timing doesn't suit my schedule, I had to cancel, but they charged me cancelling fee of over $300, they…
I’m flying away through Qatar airways…
I’m flying away through Qatar airways to propose to my fiance on the 20th of November I want to see how many companies would offer any upgrades or gifts (would love first class) it’s a big shot but if someone does see this and is interested in helping the dream come true it’d be appreciated
What a disappointment
What a disappointment. Thought Qatar was supposed to be the best ? It isn’t. My husband and I were disappointed in the staff. Disappointed with the food. And whatever you do don’t book a codeshare flight. Airlines systems don’t match and you will be unable to book seats 💺 and they will blame the other airline and we’re not transparent about this situation they have.
Discriminatory $900 forced cash charge at Baghdad Airport – Severe distress caused to my family
I am writing to express my utter outrage and heartbreak over the appalling, highly targeted treatment my family received from Qatar Airways ground staff at Baghdad International Airport (BGW). This incident occurred on August 24th on Flight QR 445 (11:55 AM departure) from Baghdad to Doha. What should have been a smooth check-in with a five-star airline turned into an aggressive, discriminatory, and predatory ordeal that deeply traumatized my family.
We were traveling as a family of four, including my two children aged 11 and 15. From the moment we arrived at the counter, the agent clearly targeted us. While other passengers walked through without issue, every single piece of our luggage—including our hand luggage—was weighed with extreme hostility and strictly tagged.
The blatant double standard became undeniable once we boarded the aircraft: we looked around the cabin and saw passenger after passenger stowing their carry-on suitcases without any approval tags whatsoever. Our family was singled out, forced through a rigid process, and made to carry tagged bags while everyone else was allowed to board completely unchecked.
What made this experience horrific:
Blatant double standard: rules were selectively and strictly enforced on our family while other passengers carried untagged roll-aboard bags onto the plane completely unbothered.
Forced $900 cash demand: The agent flatly refused to give us any reasonable alternative, such as paying for an additional checked bag. Instead, we were handed an opaque bill for $900 and told it MUST be paid strictly in cash, with card payments refused.
Extortion under time pressure: As boarding time rapidly approached, we were given a cruel ultimatum: pay $900 cash immediately, or lose our flight, the whole journey home to London and be stranded.
Traumatizing for my children: My 11- and 15-year-old children were left visibly distressed, terrified, and crying in confusion as time ran out and staff showed zero empathy, treating us like targets rather than valued passengers.
This was not customer service—it was arbitrary, selective enforcement used to extract $900 in cash from a vulnerable family under extreme duress. I demand an immediate formal investigation into the ground staff on duty in Baghdad on August 24th, an explanation for this targeted treatment, and a full refund of the cash taken from us.
It pains me to see Qatar Airway failing…
It pains me to see Qatar Airway failing so badly, they have degraded to one of the worst Airways from being a world class airline to scammers.
Once they were attentive to details and the experience of the costumer, now they hire scamers in their call centres that only care about profit and don't give a damn about the costumers. I will never fly with then until they get back to being world class but i predict they will stagnate or go bankrupt.

Awful experience
Awful experience in every sense and we haven’t even flown yet. For a world class airline they’ve failed to be of any help in amending a booking. Full of false promises and failure to communicate AT ALL. Avoid at all costs. Our flight is in 2 days and they’ve STILL not sorted our flight details
