Mercadona Reviews 

2 stars. While Mercadona has a wide variety of products and convenient stores, I am disappointed with the quality of many food items.

In my opinion, too many products are heavily processed and contain artificial additives and ingredients.

I would prefer to see more natural and healthier options. Unfortunately, this has affected my overall impression of the store.

The staff in the Mercadona of my city is the sweetest, they're always happy to help and very welcoming. Also I love the products of Hacendado

I have been shopping at the Mercadona on Calle Sta. Leonor, San Pedro, Marbella, on and off over the last number of years. About a month ago, I was in the store and realized that I had left my phone on my bike (I needed my phone to pay).

I therefore left the shopping in the store and went down the escalator to get my phone. When I was nearly at the bottom of the escalator, a security guy came up from behind, forcefully grabbed my back, and accused me of shoplifting. I was mortified.

I gave him my backpack to check but he seemed uninterested. I asked him to search me, but ditto. I asked to see the manager so we went back upstairs. The manager also seemed very disinterested. The security guard said someone had told him that I had left the store without paying but he now accepted it was a misunderstanding.

I asked the manager how to make a complaint and he gave me a form. I duly filled it out and dropped it back to him. About a week later I received an anonymous letter from Mercadona stating that the security guard had given a different account and that no further action would be taken. There was not even an apology. In essence, they were calling me a liar.

Dealing with their customer service is like banging your head against a brick wall - it just seems to be manned by anonymous AI bots.

I then followed procedure and sent a letter to the head office requesting CCTV footage. They declined (for obvious reasons).

I have now sent a letter to the CEO. An admission that I was wrongly apprehended and an apology for same is all I am looking for. So far, that hasn't happened.

The whole episode, being manhandled and accused of shoplifting in front of other shoppers, was extremely embarrassing and upsetting. Judging by other reviews, it appears that this is just what Mercadona do. Not sure if it is also a race issue against non-Spanish nationals but, either way, it's just not acceptable behavior and Mercadona should just hold their hands up and admit that a mistake was made and issue an apology. Even better, they should just stop the practice of erroneously accusing non-Spanish customers of shoplifting.

I'd like to express my disappointment with the customer service at the local Mercadona supermarket we went to, near where were staying in Los Christianos in Tenerife. Needed some coffee capsules, but as we were on holiday, wasn't sure which ones exactly we need for the "Lor" machine at the air bnb we were staying at. So unfortunately got the wrong ones and when I went back to the store with my receipt on the next day, I was refused a refund or exchange as the box was open, with no pods missing! As much as I'm trying to understand the company policy about open boxes, in this case that doesn't affect the use of the product! I also offered to exchange it for the ones I needed, which product was even cheaper and I said I wouldn't even ask for the difference, but I was refused that as well. It wasn't about the money, it was about the waste of a perfectly good product! Just to clarify - I worked in a supermarket in UK for 8 years! I've seen it all and I know my customer rights! The customer is always right people, as you won't be able to make a living if you don't have customers. One annoyed and disappointed customer here!

I'll never order from them again: If items are sold out, you'll only know when they deliver. When I called, I was told I could just go to the Mercadona and buy what was missing. Why should I then pay more than 8€ for delivery?! Horrible people.

I don't know what is going on with this store, the quality of product is dropping and prices rising, the stores are clean the staff good, but why have they deviated from before, there is a noticeable drop in quality and increase prices.

Good products, but chaotic store. I usually like their Hacendado brand, but this specific store is becoming impossible to shop in. The aisles are always blocked by pallets and boxes because they restock during peak hours. You can barely move your cart. Also, the fish counter had a weird smell today, so I skipped it. It used to be much cleaner and organized a few years ago

I visited two Mercadona grocery stores in Torrevieja. Nothing wrong with their products or prices but the staff is often unfriendly and rude against people who doesn´t speak Spanish. That is in line with the general anti tourism wave in Spain. But in a place like Torrevieja, where a great number of the Mercadona stores costumers – perhaps the majority – are people from abroad, it doesn´t seems to be a wise business idea.

I was followed by security and stopped by security and I was asked about items I handled in the store and the wearabout of a Coke that I was carrying? That is to be asked to all or not. Also, I had a cheese in my bag and they asked for receipt for the item. All these questions staying you are a theif and we need to catch you and I am a Multimillionaire that does not steal anything. Or need to steal or have a problem with stealling stuff from supermarkets.

I have used Mercadona Finestrat for home delivery for 2 years, always super service and they pick the best of products! Excellent🤗👌

they sent me yellow oranges, third time, are more bitter them lemons, they will not reimburse me...very bad service to costumers. going to take them to court over 4kg of oranges...

I was stabbed twice and slashed on the thigh by a Mercaddona employee called Fernando, in uniform. Under Spanish law as he was in uniform, the company is liable, they apologized, admitting liability. We are taking them to court, The police did nothing, but as he also does delivery work, for the local drug dealer and the police are on the take. Mossos de esquadra. Useless.

I think fruits and vegetables are ever important these days because too much processed food. I get them here, and they are fresh all the time, never seen a bad one.

Mercadona sells shark meat. Any ocean conservationist would scream when seeing this. We are emptying our oceans, killing 3 sharks per second in the world and breaking the ecosystem by slowly removing the animal at the top of the food chain, leading to the long term disappearance of all fishes. On top of that , it is high in iron and bad for our health. And with this, Mercadona thinks It is a great idea to sell shark meat.

I have no idea how this company has cultivated a reputation for having relatively few food additives in their products, even the meat and chicken has preservatives and colorants, and the processed products all have all manner of junk in them. They don't buy local at all, which is how they maintain consistency across hundreds of stores, but it also means that things like blueberries are full of antifungals. Shop at the local markets featuring products from local farmers. The quality will be far superior.

Most of the products are very good. The meat department is weak especially if you like to grill. Solomillo is cut so thin it is impossible to grill - it should be 2.5 times thicker than what it is. The ribs have so much cartilage mixed in with the bones that only 10% of the piece is edible. If you took an xray of the meat, the bones and cartilage would look like a cobweb. So if the price is multiplied taking the waste into consideration, ribs are like 60€ / kg and they’re so difficult to eat. The shrimp look good until you take them home and end up with 25% of what you bought being edible. Other than this, Mercadona is quite good.

I visited your Coimbra store today because I wanted to buy some spray for flies etc.
One of your young ladies(sadly I did not get her name) was so helpful both in her attitude to customers well-being and her willingness to guide me to the right products and then to advise on their suitable uses that I will certainly shop with you again and recommend my friends to do likewise.

Always have shopped at the mercadona but this time I tried the online shopping ... The man and woman that helped me by phone as I was setting up were so helpful and patient..and it is fantastic ..on time ..everything delivered was fresh and good expiry dates on items.. the delivery man is so pleasant and helpful.. this has taken so much stress from me thank you 😁

Ordered shopping for holiday - stood outside Villa at allotted time - even thou villa is clearly named and in Los Mojones not out in countryside - watched the Mercadona delivery drive past not stopping and then told driver couldn’t find it - 1st time using this service - on the phone they kept saying it was on its way - wasted so much time on holiday trying to sort out - just an email saying we will refund - very shoddy service

They opened a store near me and my life has changed for the better in so many ways. Fresh vegetables, which stay fresh for so much longer than any of their competitors. Wonderful bread. The olive oil one in particular is to die for. The meats consistently of the same quality. Staff happy and helpful. The store is so clean as are the toilets. I'm a no 1 fan, forever. Well done
