They just carry on going downhill.
They just carry on going downhill.
First they stopped making the Low GI loaf which was a healthy option and do a less healthy multi-seed cob instead, but for the last few months the bread bins at the Colne branch have been mostly empty. Today again at 12 most bread all sold out.
I asked the manager why and he said they were understaffed so couldn't bake any more, I took it to mean there just weren't enough staff, not that they couldn't get people to work there.
Attitude from staff
Was waiting to pay in my local Putney store — I was the only one in a queue and wanted to pay with cash.
The assistant shouted “card, card” I nodded to indicate that I’m waiting to pay with cash which was pretty obvious really then he mumbled something under his breath making his annoyance quite apparent. It was unnecessary rude and dismissive. Making me feel like an inconvenience for simply waiting to pay. Not interaction you want first thing in the morning.
Quick acknowledgement and reimbursement
I complained about the quality of a food item with pictures and packaging. It was easy and straight-forward to find the contact details and to complete the form. I had a response less than 12h later asking for additional information. Once submitted, I received an apology, the assurance that it would be investigated and a voucher for the full price paid for the item. When it comes to quality issues, I have never had a problem getting it sorted.

Bought fresh chicken thighs from Langley Mill Lidl with a use by date 7th November. I returned hom and put them straight in fridge its 4th today. I opened fridge today it is fully working temp is 4c and the fridge stank. I picked up the sealed pack and of chicken thighs and they reaked . Are you trying to poison me? I have been shopping with them for over 20 years. no point buying fresh meat if it is going to make you ill. Never again. You might be cheap but your standards are the noe the lowest for fresh meat suggest management at senior level look into this
Worst Customer Service Ever - will go to Aldi from now on
Bought a Combination Padlock for our bike, but it wouldn’t open, so we rang the service helpline which was a complete waste of time, It wasn’t a human, just some bot who couldn’t understand - it was extremely difficult and we shall end up just returning the product to Lidl, which is another journey - but when the service is so bad, I guess thats what you have to do. Aldi next time for me -

Do like LIDL but very unhappy i need a phone to get offers and bargains, really is loaded against the likes of me that do not have a mobile
Complaints Team not fit for purpose
Dialled the Complaints team to inform them that their loose Kiwis were not up to standard getting spoilt within a day or two or buying them. The Lidl Assistant perks up in her cheery voice asking me to press 1,2 or 3...then waiting for a connection and the line is cut off by a bot...how maddening is that? I really plan to stop shopping in their Wood Green store as I used to do...their products are not the best anymore
Staff at the tills!
I like the food and the prices, but most of all, I like that I'm not pushed to use self service checkouts and the second a queue is formed, another checkout opens. This puts it miles above Sainsbury's and Asda for me.
And yes, I will write the same review for Aldi.

After 15 years of asset-stripping governments, Lidl is the only one keeping us fed 🫡
Shop elsewhere
Lidl have gone downhill since I first shopped with them over 20 years ago, which I have now stopped doing. My reasons are many. Staff arrogance, self sevice checkouts for card holders only (discrimination), discounts for smart phone users only (discrimination) and aisles blocked with boxes etc every time I go in.
I have been shopping at Lidl for over…
I have been shopping at Lidl for over 20 years, but increasingly, I am finding that the overall shopping experience, product quality and prices are becoming disappointing.
Over the years, Lidl has built a reputation for offering good-quality products at affordable prices. However, I am now finding that many products are becoming more expensive, with some prices higher than those at major supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s. This raises questions about whether Lidl is still offering the value for money that originally attracted so many customers.
I also travelled to Italy in August and was surprised to find that Lidl stores there offered a noticeably better range and quality of products, often at lower prices than in the UK. This made me question why UK customers appear to be paying more for products while sometimes receiving a different standard of quality.
I believe these differences deserve closer attention. Should the UK Government or relevant consumer protection authorities investigate Lidl’s pricing, product quality and differences between its UK and European stores?
As a long-standing customer, I would like to understand why these differences exist and whether UK consumers are receiving fair prices and value for money.
Lidl Hedge End
Lidl Hedge End. In my app I have a offer for free fruit with £30 spend. At check out it didn't work so a female assistant came and checked and said the avocado was not included, even though it was clearly on the offer picture! When asked why she said the app has nothing to do with the shop!!terrible service misleading marketing. Will not be spending £55 again there.
A WASTED DAY - Grr!!!
You can improve by giving the customer the full information when purchasing items needing batteries!
I live 15 miles from your nearest store in England.
I bought a paint sprayer and asked for batteries (which were not on display) I bought 2 batteries and drove 15 miles home to spray paint a garage. Nobody had said ‘Do you have our battery charger as others don’t fit!).
I ring customer services and am told they don’t stock them😳. They send me a link to a spares catalogue in Austria. There is no clear information on a battery to fit the sprayer . It comes with Euro plug and costs 38.5 Euros and take 15 working days for delivery. ….. So I am now returning to the store to return the items - a 60 mile WASTED round trip and a WASTED DAY!!!!!
What a lovely charactor Amy is
What a lovely charactor Amy is. She helped me breeze through some red flags that came up on check out. I was already on panick mode...and she eazed the moment. No words needed ❤️

Bought 24 pack of Cushelle toilet rolls costing £11 something. Got home to find you can get the same from Asda for £8. Absolutely disgusting ripping people off who come in on a budget, no better than the rest of the grocery thieves out there.
No Greek food items available on the advertised date!
Went to Lidl Wincanton to
purchase items included in its Greek Week. Although it was advertised as available from 29/10/2026 to 4/11/2026 there was no Greek items on sale today.( 29/10/2026). Enquired as to what was happening. Told that the Greek items were on a pallet around the back of the shop, but could not tell us when they would become available! Fortunately we live fairly local to the supermarket, otherwise we would have been even more annoyed...and we were very annoyed as it was!
Went back to Lidl this afternoon. (30/10/2026). Surely the store would have sorted itself out by this time. After all the items should have been available from the previous day. Surprise! Surprise! Still no Greek items for sale. Spoke to the store manager, a nice enough woman, but obviously she did not feel that living up to Lidl's advertising promises was a priority.
Whilst we love Greek food, we will not going back again. And any consideration of moving away from Tesco and Morrison's to Lidl for our weekly shop has disappeared too!
Warminster manager
I have shopped at Lidl's Warminster for years and always found them happy and helpful. It is very sad that the Manager Dan is moving to another store. He will be sorely missed. He was a great asset to the branch.
I wish you all the best. Sandra H
Customers are not safe
Customers are not safe — procedures are not working
"On 30 September 2026, I experienced a serious safety incident at Lidl Edgware, HA8 7DD. When I needed help, I asked a member of staff for assistance. Instead of stepping in to keep me safe, when I tried to take a photo of the person involved, I was stopped — and made to feel like I was the one in the wrong. It felt like their procedures exist, but not to protect the customer. A wonderful fellow customer stepped in and helped me when your staff did not. To that kind stranger — whoever you are — thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I filed a formal complaint — Lidl Case Reference: 140112437 — but my questions about what procedures exist and why I wasn't helped have not been answered. I have also reported this to Harrow Council Environmental Health — Reference: HAR7239556_3809519. Every customer has the right to be safe and supported in a store. My only reason for sharing this is that I believe changes need to be made so no one else feels unsafe, ignored, or made out to be the wrong person when they need help."

I found a piece of plastic in my chocolate which nearly broke my tooth at Leicester , Loughborough road store. I emailed complaints team but there service is poor, I'm still waiting for a reply after I rejected there offer which is not acceptable to cover dental damage
Thank you Lidl Edenbridge
I recently visited the Lidl store in Edenbridge during a particularly busy period, and I must say I was genuinely impressed with the experience. Despite how busy the store was, everything looked neat, well-organised and well-maintained, and the bakery section was especially inviting.
What really stood out to me, however, was the exceptional customer service I received from a Shift Manager named Seyi. I made a point of remembering his name because of how helpful he was. He went above and beyond to ensure we found the exact product we needed, and even took the initiative to help my mum carry our shopping, as we had quite a lot.
His patience, kindness and willingness to help, especially during such a busy period, were truly commendable. It’s refreshing to come across someone who genuinely cares about making customers feel valued and supported.
A huge well done to Seyi and the entire Edenbridge team! This is customer service at its finest, and Lidl should be proud to have someone like him representing the business. A fantastic experience all around!
