Charging session stops after a few seconds due to malfunction, pre-authorization fee is charged anyway. No problem, they see quickly enough that it was only a very short charging session and will quickly refund the majority of the amount. FOUR days later and still NOTHING refunded…. What service, Plugsurfing. NOT!!!!!

I had a disappointing experience with Polestar Charge / Plugsurfing.

During a hotel stay in Germany, I charged my Polestar 2 overnight using my Polestar Charge RFID card. I expected to pay for the electricity and parking, but was instead charged a total of €106 because an additional €80.21 time-based tariff was applied.

The issue is not that the fee existed. The issue is that there was no reasonable way to know about it before starting the charging session. I used the RFID card, not the app, and the charger had no display capable of showing tariff information.

When I contacted support, they explained that RFID users are expected to check the tariff in the app before every charging session. That completely defeats the convenience of using an RFID card, and it was never made clear beforehand.

Support was polite, but they refused any goodwill reimbursement.

My advice is simple: if you use Polestar Charge or Plugsurfing, always check the tariff in the app before using your RFID card. Otherwise, you may end up with a very expensive surprise.

Unjust Subscription Renewal and Poor Customer Service

I had a disappointing experience with this company. Despite cancelling my subscription within the specified one-month period, they renewed it anyway. When I raised the issue with their customer service, they refused to acknowledge my cancellation and were unwilling to provide information on how to escalate the complaint. I would advise against using this company, as their practices seem quite questionable.

Fraud, inside job?

I had 12 fraudulent transactions as the app was compromised on 30/8 similar to other reviews, all the same date the fraud happened but not suspicious? All were basically in different parts of the UK at very close intervals yet the company are saying it’s my fault as I didn’t notice. I have never used the app, I live in another country, never got a receipt or notification, they are refusing to provide CCTV or evidence. It seems like an inside job to me and I am over 600euro out of pocket! I am suing this company and have no other option at this point

account hacked and Plugsurfing customer service dire

I had two fraudulent charging sessions on my Plugsurfing account (30 Aug 2025). My account was clearly compromised, as I wasn’t in London at the time and couldn’t have made these charges.

When I reported this, Plugsurfing refused to refund me and told me only my bank could help. They also don’t provide basic security features like two-factor authentication, which would have reduced the risk of my account being hacked.

I’ve raised a formal complaint and will be escalating further. Very disappointed with the lack of security and support.

The app no longer accepts…

The app no longer accepts Romanian-issued cards and gives no warning whatsoever. I found myself next to my EV with 0% battery and no way to pay. Customer support first blamed me, then admitted they had "restricted certain countries" for strategic reasons. One word? Unreliable. Uninstalled and moving on.

180€ extra cost for 1 charge on a slow AC charger

I've been using Plugsurfing on the same location and suddenly a full charge of 30-40€ ends up in 180-220€ !!!
They started charging by the minute after 20 min of charging on a slow AC charger at the rate of 27€cts/min, even when done overnight.
The charge pole company already applied that they only charged the use of kW to Plugsurfing and are not aware of this surplus being charged.

CHARGED DOUBLE TO CHARGE MY CAR!

Shocking.

The same charging point cost me £0.54/kWh when using Ubitricity’s QR code, versus £0.948/kWh when using the Nissan / Plugsurfing app.

I got in touch with Plugsurfing - who are unable to answer beyond a few copy/pasted responses. They were adamant that it was the “operator” (ie Ubitricty) who set that price - even though clearly Ubitricity charge the cheaper price when you scan the QR code.

He then suggested in most cases Plugsurfing’s price would be cheaper. A quick look through other local charging points suggests this is egregiously dishonest.

All in all, Plugsurfing will charge you almost double to charge your car if you make the foolish mistake of using their app.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Expensive and not very good

I picked up my New Polestar about 3 weeks ago and was given the Polestar charging card *Plug Surfing* I opened an account etc but found the app not the best for locating the best charging station and I was disappointed to find out that to use the tesla charging network you needed to subscribe at over £11 per month which is a bit expensive and better alternatives around. just really disappointed and feel that I was ripped off with the one and only change I made on the card have now closed the account and cut up the card

Over 250 euro for 35kWh scam

They charged me over 250 euro for a 35kWh session. There is a mistake in the price (0.61eur per min instead of 0.61eur per kWh) but they claim the price is normal and refuse any refund.
Scam company with awful customer service.

Should you be offrered a Plugsurfing Card or Fob…

…my suggestion would be to politely decline. You will be happier for it.

It hardly seems worth writing this review, since how much worse can Plugsurfing get?

I’d love to tell you about how this company’s charging network performs, but that would require actually getting past their registration process—a feat I have yet to accomplish.

The charging fob I was provided with isn’t recognised by their own system. I have attached to my keys (although not for much longer) a small, plastic fob, that, much like this company, is utterly useless.

When I contacted them, I naively thought I’d get a quick fix. Instead, I received a masterclass in patience. It took over 12 hours for a response. Their replies are so slow and unhelpful, asking for information they already have and offering zero help.

Do yourself a favor: if you enjoy getting frustrated by what should be a simple registration process and holding onto useless plastic cards, give them a try! But if you're actually serious about charging your car, I'd recommend literally anyone else.

Really poor experience

Really poor experience
Went to two separate 150Kw fast chargers in two separate locations (Shannon Airport) & Shannon Starbucks. Neither were functioning.
Called the helpline and the call was answered. Was told an engineer would call me back. Took my number. And you guessed it. No one bothered to call me back. How crap is that? Will avoid this company and any of their charging units going forward. It’s a pity a reputable company like Shannon Airport partnered with them.

PLUGSURFING REMOVED UNUSED CREDIT WITHOUT NOTICE

Xpeng car owners received some credits during a Winter Service to use inside Plugsurfing app. for fast charging, NOK 1200,- The remaining total of those credits were suddenly without warning removed 31.dec 2023. After contacting PS and Xpeng customer service they say they have expired. But when we received the credits there was never any mention of an expiration date, nor in the mail or inside the app when we activated it. So in short, they took our money from us. All Xpeng users experienced the same. And customer service just went silent.

SCAM ARTISTS! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!

SCAM ARTISTS! The plugsurfing app states that the first hour is FREE OF CHARGE at ESB in London. However, I charged 37kW earlier and a payment of £39 tried to be taken. Thank god I added a card I don’t use. How do they continue to exist!? I’m shocked that they charge £1.056 per kW. I wouldn’t use Plugsurfing even if I was desperate. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
