I have 32 years of experience working with CAD, floor plans, and programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp. So I wanted to share my experience with Plan7Architect.

First of all, don´t underestimate the learning curve. This isn´t the kind of software you can install and immediately master without spending some time learning how it works. However, anyone familiar with CAD or architectural design software will know that this is completely normal.

The good news is that the tutorial videos are very well made. The "First Steps" video covers around 75% of the most important functions and explains everything clearly. I would recommend that every new user start with this video. After about an hour, you should already be able to create very good floor plans with the software.

Plan7 is considerably easier to learn than programs such as AutoCAD or SketchUp because it was developed specifically for architectural planning. You don´t need additional plugins or modules to create detailed, professional floor plans.

What I particularly like is the level of detail you can achieve. You can create complete plan sheets and customize them precisely by adding labels, hatch patterns, wall layers, dimensions, and many other details exactly where you need them.

The exported plans look professional and high-quality, whether you export them as PDF or DWG files.

One thing I don´t like quite as much is the navigation in 3D mode. That said, you do get used ti it after a day or two.

The new version is really good and a big improvement over the previous one. It now also runs on my Microsoft Surface with an ARM chip, which the old version couldn`t do. Thanks a lot for this great update!

Bought it to plan some changes to my House and it does the Job well.

I have been trying to use this software for weeks with little success. It rarely behaves the way the book (which is horrible) and the videos (which seem pretty good) all say it should work. The software often doesn't look like the screen prints in the book, and the screen prints are often in German. I watch a video, perform it step by step on my project, and it doesn't work the same way. Horribly frustrating. Customer support is highly responsive, but rarely solve the problem. They just tell you to go watch a video.

We inherited an old house and wanted to renovate and remodel it. We tested a few different programs and ended up sticking with Plan7 Pro because it‘s a one-time purchase. That means if we want to edit our floor plans again in six months, we can do that without having to pay again.

For me, that was a really important point. There‘s honestly nothing comparable on the market that you can buy without a subscription. The plans look very good and professional, and we exported them in different formats and sent them to our contractor and architect.

I think the people leaving negative Reviews are the ones who had completely unrealistic expectations of the Software. This isn't a Computer Game where you install it and design a castle within 10 minutes. It is genuine floor plan software, and you really should watch the First Steps tutorial. Once you do everything makes sense and – in my opinion– it's incredibly easy to use.

Not beginner‑friendly at all. It feels like you need to sink about 40 hours into it just to figure out the basics. I can see how it might be useful once you’re completely used to it, but the learning curve is so steep that if you only need it for one or two jobs, it’s absolutely not worth the hassle. Save your money

I‘ve had the Pro version for about a year now, and honestly, you guys have improved a lot during that time.

The old tutorials were pretty baf - especially the awgull AI voices - but the new videos you‘ve been uploading to Youtube since January are seriously helpful. They‘re really worth watching.

I also appreciate that you keep posting new tutorials regularly. And the newly translated PDF manual is a big improvement as well - very useful and much easier to work with.

I owe you an apology.

At firs, I confused the demo videos with the training videos and thought that was all the tutorial material available. Because of that, I wrote something negative about you in a forum.

Now I understand that I was wrong and that you actually have very good tutorial videos.

So I think I owe you a 5 star review!

I absolutely love this program. It does require some patience at the beginning because there are many tools, categories, and settings, which can feel a bit overwhelming at first. However, once you get familiar with it, everything becomes much smoother and easier to use. Overall, it's a very powerful and useful software.

This is not a "draw a house in one evening" kind of program. It is more advanced than that. It took me a while to understand all the feature, especially roof construction and detailed wall settings. That being said, once you understand the workflow, it's very capable. I like that it's a one-time purchase and not a subscription. Just be prepared to invest time into learning it properly.

At first I honestly thought this was just another basic home design tool, but I was wrong. Plan7Architect is much more capable than it looks at first glance. It does take some time to understand where everything is and how the tools were together. After a few weeks of using it regularly, it really started to click. Now I can create full construction drawings, sections and even 3D views without needing an expensive subscription. My advice: watch the tutorials and practical a little every day. Once you get over the learning curve, it becomes a very powerful program.
