video submissions

I wish there was a way to make video submissions to an instructor that we are subscribed with.
It is not unreasonable for me to expect to pay up to $25 for each video submission… Or perhaps they could be sold in packs of three for $50. Your courses are already effectively priced and do not need a price increase to accommodate this feature because only a few people would take advantage of it.

Hello Eileen,
I'm sorry you were disappointed in the new course, and I've refunded the one payment that you made when you signed up.

As we've said in the course materials, Beginning Banjo by Ear is a brand new course that we just launched, and we are adding new lessons every month. It is paced so that people just starting out on banjo can keep up, practice what they are learning, and get used to playing the banjo by ear, without relying on tab. You might be beyond that level in your playing, but we've found that it is a great approach for people who are just starting out and who want to train their ear.

In any case, we've refunded your money. Do check back later, when BB's lesson library has grown, or see our other great banjo courses on Peghead Nation.

Thank you,
Dan Gabel

Illustrating Sounds on Strings

Through Peghead Nation, fabulous fiddler/violinist Alisa Rose offered some incredibly helpful improvisational exercises, based on pretty easy mechanics. Within these lessons it grew nearly impossible to keep my bow from dancing around and landing lovely places. She passed on some stellar split second tricks that can both strengthen instrumental impulses of a rookie, and also remain timeless tools for warming up musical muscles.
I especially adore Alisa's method of visualizing melodies as shapes. Following her spontaneously scribbled maps got my fiddler great places, like bringing notes up high & down low & across wavy hills with a steady beat at the ground. Even greater places are where we're headed after working with Alisa - I am already feeling more capable of quickly illustrating sounds on strings. Thanks so much to all!

The course is perfect

The course is perfect. The song selections are much to my liking, the instructions from Scott are very clear and he breaks down the complex nature of the riffs into simple to follow steps. In addition I love Scott as a musician and his music.

Old-Time Mandolin, Reischman, Peghead Nation are treasures.

Course is well-taught by a master, concise and clear, with outstanding repertoire, and the extras (play-along tracks, transcriptions) are thoughtfully included. The approach of Peghead Nation generally is friendly and approachable, down to the weekly or biweekly emails with performances, gear reviews, new lesson and/or course announcements. That positivity is motivating. Overall an excellent value, and you get out of it what you put into it, like anything else.

Great teachers

Great teachers! Wonderful variety of course offerings and topics. I particularly love mandolin master Marla Fibish and her teaching approach. Learning traditional Irish mandolin technique and tunes is affordable and convenient, and having the opportunity to work at my own pace is great. This is a brilliant opportunity to learn from the best within the tradition!

Best Bluegrass Lessons 10/10🔥🔥🔥

I’ve been a member on and off for a decade. Scott Nygards bluegrass lessons are perfect for me and I love, love how they give you the ability once a month to try a different course. That is a huge feature for me as I will go back-and-forth between the different bluegrass courses.
