Purchased multitrip policy from HeyMondo administered by AXA-Spain. Broke arm in Ushuaia awaiting boarding for Antarctica cruise. They excluded my reimbursement as I was judged to be already on the trip while awaiting boarding and cancellation would not apply! Trip interruption was also disallowed by the application of a strange clause in the contract I was unaware of and is a non-industry standard. Please read the policy. It will fail you. Most of us don't when we purchase. I bought the multitrip and used it two other times in the year. It is cheap and "good" if you don't need it. Beware. I lost a lot of money and was delayed for months awaiting a disappointing adjudication. I contacted and resubmitted and had much difficulty getting to the end. They did pay my Argentine medical and flight expense (I used miles). I had to inform and hassle with getting the international bank transfer to my account. They refused to acknowledge that it was possible. They processed it at my expense for the transaction. Be sure you won't need it before you purchase. Hey Mondo has responded incorrectly. The trip was canceled before embarkation. I was simply in Ushuaia awaiting the boarding. The judgment was made conveniently.

We are sorry you are unhappy with your case resolution. However we have checked with AXA and they confirmed your case has been handled correctly and you have been refunded for the repartiation and the medical expenses.
Please notice that trip cancellation and trip interruption are 2 different coverage.
The Trip Cancellation coverage covers your non-refundable travel expenses should you have to cancel your trip prior to the start date for one of the covered reasons.
And the Trip Interruption coverage applies if during the trip, due to a covered cause, you need to return home sooner than expected. It only covers the mean of transport (train or flight) to go back home. Unused portion of trip is not covered.
In your case, the applicable coverage was Trip Interruption.
We remain at your disposal for any further clarification.

I had reason to Contact Mondo customer support because my suitcase had got delayed during a trip. The lady I spoke with was very helpful and emailed me immediately the documents that I needed.

They do not refund you & disappear
At first I thought this company was great, I bought the highest level of insurance for my trip and when I first needed to go and see a doctor they helped with minimal issue, although there was quite a bit of back and forth messages etc. BUT when my health situation escalated and instead of having extensive treatment in the USA which would have cost them MASSIVE money, I thought I chose the easier option of returning home. I explained everything very clearly and received random emails from different people, one person redirecting me to another person redirecting me back to another person. All this while I was very ill was beyond stressful. In the end they agreed to cover my return flight (obviously since it would save them thousands upon thousands). I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND MONTHS LATER!!!! They have ghosted every email I have sent them and I am being forced to contact a lawyer and ombudsman!!! I cannot speak for the other branches of this company but AVOID THE SPANISH ONE, the customer service doesn’t exist.
UPDATE please do not be fooled by their seemingly helpful reply, at the same time I received an email saying they my case and that they would continue to ‘look into the case and let me know’. I have still not received the refund for my expenses that I was promised. This company has the worst customer service and have made my health situation so much more stressful. Avoid!
UPDATE don’t be fooled! This company have absolutely NOT TRIED TO CALL ME. the service is an absolute joke. I send an email a day to ask where my money is and they just send generic replies. Do not trust this company.

The clearest online application
The clearest online application form I found. Made it clear that you can start the contract while abroad (after 72hours), whereas many of the "big" banks hide in the documents that it will not be valid if youre already abroad, no matter how many days you have been away.
