The sheer incompetence and lack of…
The sheer incompetence and lack of integrity at GEICO is mind-boggling. One of your insured drivers hit my completely stationary vehicle while it was legally parked in a marked spot. Instead of doing their jobs, your claims representatives acted like absolute trash, showing zero professionalism and immediately trying to blame me for a crash I wasn't even moving for. To make your complete lack of ethics even more pathetic, you haven't even received a copy of the police report yet, but you have already denied my claim. I will be taking immediate steps against your company and filing a formal complaint with the State Board of Insurance to expose this garbage handling of a clear at-fault claim.
Unresponsive and Unprofessional
My brother was a long-time GEICO auto insurance customer. After he passed away earlier this year, our family promptly notified GEICO, followed every instruction we were given, and provided all the requested legal documentation to close his account.
Despite this, GEICO continued sending correspondence addressed to him for months and even referred a $59 balance to a debt collection agency. Our grieving mother ultimately paid the balance herself simply to stop the collection activity. We still have not received a meaningful response or resolution from GEICO.
While every other organization we dealt with during this difficult time treated our family with professionalism and compassion, GEICO's handling of my brother's account was unresponsive, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing.
Just got a Great deal on car insurance
Just got a Great deal on car insurance, better price than previous insurer.
Terrible customer experience
Outstanding driver here with no bad record on file, 15+ years experience, they wouldn't honor the same price without the drive easy program (discount) that they have going on. I called them to request the drive easy program to be removed and to maintain the policy at the same price, and they wouldn't honor so I'm changing policy. They stuck to their playbook and wouldn't give me a single moment or time of their day so they lost a customer. Their sales agents are also very rapey and harass the crap out of you from my experience. Bad experience overall, the claims process was not the best either.
Geico Insurance unethical practice!
A Geico's customer swung his car door and hit my new Tesla car. He admitted fault and provided his Geico Insurance information. I got 2 independent repair estimates from 2 very reputable, Tesla authorized repair shops of about $2,500 & $2,700 and I sent those to Geico. Geico's adjuster provided me an extremely low-ball & insulting $500 repair estimate. This is so typical of Insurance companies, especially Geico. This is unethical, fraudulent and horrible business practice from Geico. I was planning to switch Insurance company to insure our 6 cars, now I know which one to stay away... GEICO!!!
Geico deflects accountability to Lexis Nexis
I filled out an online form with Geico to request an auto insurance quote. A day later I got a cryptic email from Geico that information in my Lexis Nexis consumer credit report led to Geico increasing my insurance rate quote. After a VEEERY long, difficult time trying to get in touch with Lexis Nexis, I learned that my consumer credit report with them is spotless. No speeding tickets. No law enforcement problems. No negative issues at all. Yet Geico is sticking to their story that the increased auto insurance rate is due to "information we pulled from your Lexis Nexis consumer credit report." False. I've been with the same (other) insurance company for years now with an impeccable driving history--the same unmarred driving history I've had for over a decade. No tickets. No speeding. Yearly safe-driver course certification. I consented to the auto-plug-in device that monitors my driving moment by moment in order to circumvent these car insurance company shenanigans. The justification for these threats to consumer privacy (plug in devices also log your exact location...), the auto insurance industry told the US, is that these devices obviate the need for car insurance companies to take educated guesses about insurance applicants' driving safety through statistical links to credit reports... Instead, these plug in devices show EXACTLY how an individual consumer drives second-by-second over YEARS. THAT is real-time, granular driving safety/responsibility data. Yet still, Geico continues to claim that proxy data in consumers' files prompt rate increases--even when such data are absent in consumers' files! This financially predatory behavior should be investigated by states' attorneys general. And the kicker? Even Geico's BEST RATE offered was significantly higher than the six-month insurance rate my current company just renewed me for--with a discount for impeccable driving which their plug in monitoring device attests to.
On May 28
On May 28, 2026, GEICO Auto Insurance processed two identical charges of $256.86 against my debit card. Both charges are clearly visible on my bank statement as pending transactions sitting side by side. When I contacted GEICO to report the duplicate, I was told their system only showed one charge (in which i called back a day later to be told to submit documentation because they see the duplicate charge). No case was opened, no investigation was started, and nothing was done to release the duplicate hold from my account.
This one billing error wiped out my entire available balance and caused a cascade of financial harm. A scheduled merchant payment declined as a result. I was left without my vehicle. I had no money and work the following Monday. I left the situation embarrassed and in tears.
With no resolution from GEICO I was forced to contact my mother for emergency financial assistance. The unexpected expense caused her bank account to overdraft resulting in a $34 overdraft fee, a direct and documented financial loss caused entirely by GEICO's billing error.
GEICO says 'It feels good to GEICO.' It did not feel good when their duplicate charge destroyed my available balance, left me without my car, and created a financial ripple effect that hurt my mother too.
Geico, not a loyal company
After being with Geico for many years, after my car was totaled by another car, Geico showed zero compassion or concern for my situation. They decided to total my car even though the inside was just fine. They used a third party company to evaluate the cost, who used three ridiculous comparisons that were extremely low and then gave me the cash value for the car. Upon my Comparison, found many cars of the same as mine, which were5 to 10K more than what they gave me. The agent didn't even call me back until two days later. Horrible company to work with. We will be changing our insurance.
Best of the best
GEICO is #1 when it comes to any other insurance out there. They have multi car discount & very affordable, been with them for over 20 years. And they are the best.
Shop around
I had Geico for years and after about 5 years they were charging me $275 for full coverage insurance on my pickup truck. I just decided to shop around and see what was out there and progressive gave me the same deal for $140. I just wanted to put this out there so people know to shop around and don't trust Geico
We switched from Progressive and really…
We switched from Progressive and really regret it. Geico is part of the oligarchy class now, Berkshire Hathaway, technically called a "conglomerate", meaning they own many other companies, they consider it "passive income", because if you own a lot of companies, you don't have to do much. The money just keeps rolling in-- as long as the money keeps coming in, they literally do not care about anything else. PASSIVE being a generous term. Their lack of concern, customer service, can have massive effects on your life. They insure everything you need in your life, that you can lose if there is an accident, if they are incompetent or uncaring. What they care about is yachts, that you are now paying for. Move on.
Double billing on home owners insurance!
When I started a new homeowners policy for the house I inherited from my mother, I cancelled my mother insurance and Geico didn't cancel now they are trying to collect on 2 homeowners insurance policies on 1 house. They never cancelled the old policy. Rip Off!!! Watch out for Geico.
Gieco is a Horrible company
Gieco is a Horrible company,
Beware of ever "working
with" this company.
Don't let them record anything, what you say WILL be used against you!!
Purchase Dashcams before it is too late! I had one of their subscribers blew a stop sign and hit me with the side of its car while it was rolling through the turn on two wheels and they somehow determined that it was "my fault". This is the kind of "adjusting" that causes the problems with our insurance system. People waste in time and money on obvious cause and effect.
GEICO handled my claim in the worst…
GEICO handled my claim in the worst possible way and I canceled them immediately after finding much better (and cheaper) rates elsewhere.July 4, 2025 low-speed parking lot accident — no visible damage to either car. GEICO initially closed my claim at 0% my fault in July 2025. Then in October they reopened it and shifted liability to 50-50 based on the other driver's (Glenda Braun) accusation that she saw the Lowe's surveillance video — which was impossible without a subpoena. GEICO themselves tried to get the video in October and were denied without one (per their own declaration), yet they still relied on her unverified claim to reopen and change the liability. Their subpoena attempt was way too late (Jan 2026).They also relied on a tampered photo (metadata shows it was created Nov 6, 2025 — months after the accident), sent blank PDFs as "vehicle photos," never provided a repair estimate after 6 months, and ignored basic physics (low-speed <3 mph impact can't cause the claimed frame damage). This unfair handling caused me financial harm (surcharge) and emotional distress (worsened GAD). I'm now pursuing a bad faith lawsuit. GEICO does not treat customers fairly — avoid them at all costs.
Unprofessional Conduct and Administrative Negligence
After being solicited persistently for over a year to return to GEICO, I chose to give them another opportunity by binding a policy and paying the premium in full. Disappointingly, less than a month into the term, I received a cancellation notice requiring "PROOF OF OWNERSHIP" for vehicles GEICO had previously insured for over five years.
Despite providing the requested registration documentation two days prior to the deadline, my policy was cancelled on Christmas Eve (12/24/25). Upon following up, I was informed that the documentation had simply not been reviewed. This level of inefficiency and disregard for customer retention is unacceptable. They are quick to take your payment but even quicker to drop your coverage due to their own internal delays. I will no longer be doing business with this company and strongly advise others to look elsewhere for reliable coverage !
Extremely bad customer service
Recently was involved in car accident. Phone center employees were of no assistance. I was told I was at fault but no reason given. It was impossible to get anyone to explain the fault was providers erroneous and conflicting information. Only after filing complaint with TDI did I get a phone call returned.
Geico does everything right
Geico does everything right, best Ins. Co. I ever had!
In case of an accident, they provided a rental car. My previous company that I had for 30 years never did that, just kept raising rates suposedly discounted with car and home. I pay a lot less now.
I was in an accident almost a year ago
I was in an accident almost a year ago. I am suppose to be covered for lost wages. I started getting some money in March, not the 70%. So now GEICO is holding my pay (what they shorted me since December - August) for some reason. They have all info needed. They don't care if because they shorted or not payed you that you are ready to lose everything. Housing, utilities, no gas to get to Dr appointments. I have not received anything since August and that was $297.00. I payed into gieco for 3-4 years for exactly this circumstance. But do they return the services they say ? No. I am filing complaint through the regulatory commission.
This is one of the worst company I have…
This is one of the worst company I have to deal with in comes to “claims” . Every time we call even giving them the claim number still, we have to explain every single time of the whole situation.. finally we got hold of a person who knew what he was doing, C William . But with geico policy he can’t do anything to help us . We asked for the supervisor but never got to talk to that person. Geico wants us to pay out-of-pocket first for them to reimburse and we explained that we don’t have resources to do that. So frustrating trying to deal with them.. no wonder no RV rental company is willing to work directly with them.
