Beware of Safe Driving Program!

What started off as a reasonable alternative to owning or leasing a car became a complete nightmare when Flexcar started dinging me repeatedly for going as as much as 1 mph over designated speed limit limits. Initially one representative told me that Flexcar’s thresholds were 20 mph over the speed limit or more, and then a few months later I was told, no, that’s incorrect, you will be flagged if you go as much as 1 mph over the speed limit. This is simply inhumane and punitive tracking of drivers resulting in increased anxiety and me being unable to concentrate on driving and instead of worrying when they’re going to penalize me further. Furthermore, they will not provide you any data around by how much you violated the speed limit,, what the speed limit was, or any of that, so they’re simply setting arbitrary limits and flagging you for things that may not even be in your control.

Overall, horrible experience with their so-called “Safe Driving Program” and would not recommend this service to anybody for this reason alone.

Practically steal your money

**Extremely Disappointing and Misleading Billing**

I used Flex car over a year ago, and while the customer service was mediocre, my biggest issue came a full year after I had returned the vehicle and finished using the service.

If you rent a vehicle for more than a week, Flex car requires you to sign up for an annual maintenance plan. What I did not realize—and what I don't believe was adequately disclosed—is that this plan automatically renews and charges you another $300 one year later, even if you haven't rented another vehicle and are no longer using Flexcar. They don't allow any refunds of this charge.

I returned the car over a year ago and reasonably believed my relationship with Flexcar was finished. Then, completely unexpectedly, I noticed a $300 charge on my credit card for an annual maintenance plan. There was no notification or reminder that I was about to be charged for another year of a service I wasn't using.

Automatically renewing a $300 annual plan for a customer who hasn't used your service in a year, without clearly notifying them beforehand is **predatory and stealing** in my opinion.

Customers should not have to discover a surprise $300 charge on their credit card a year after they stopped using the company. At a minimum, Flex car should provide a clear advance notification of the upcoming renewal and make it easy to cancel.

I would strongly recommend checking your credit card statements if you've used Flex car in the past. You may be charged another $300 a year later without realizing the maintenance plan is still active.

I will not be using Flex car again and don't recommend others use it either.

Untrustworthy

Untrustworthy. Flexcar overlooks the fact that, consumers are any organizations most valuable stakeholders. Nevertheless, they will eventually see in real time as Consumers pull away from investing into Flexcar due to its hidden agendas to benefit wealth from unsuspecting consumers , the decline in its revenue 😮

My experience with Flexcar has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

After another driver hit the vehicle, I followed the proper process and reported the incident. Despite not being the person who caused the damage, Flexcar charged me $500 to my account. The damage they are charging me for is on a plastic bumper and is no bigger than a quarter, yet I was still expected to pay a significant fee without a clear explanation of why I was being held responsible.

What makes this even more concerning is that, to my knowledge, the vehicle has not even been inspected to determine the actual extent of the damage or the cost of repairs. I do not understand how a $500 charge was determined before a proper inspection was completed.

I also pay approximately $250 per month for insurance coverage on this vehicle because I believed I was protecting myself and the vehicle in situations like this. I expected that if an incident occurred, there would be a fair review process, clear communication, and transparency before being charged hundreds of dollars unexpectedly.

When I contacted customer support, I repeatedly tried to get answers about the charge, why I was being held responsible when another driver caused the damage, and what documentation supported the fee. Instead of addressing my specific situation, I felt like I was given the same scripted responses over and over.

The representative I spoke with today was not helpful and came across as having an attitude during an already stressful situation. I’ll admit I was frustrated and upset because having $500 taken from your account unexpectedly is a serious financial burden, but I was looking for someone to actually listen, explain the charge, and help resolve the issue.

Instead, I felt dismissed and unsupported. I reported the incident, cooperated with the process, and expected transparency and fair treatment. Being told I have to return the vehicle while still not receiving clear answers has made this experience even more stressful.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Flexcar. Customers deserve better communication, proper inspections before charges are made, and a fair review process before being held responsible for unexpected fees.

Poor credit beware

Just wanted everyone to be aware that if you have poor credit, don't waste your time applying. They will reject your application quickly. In my opinion, this company sucks the shaft.

Terrible customer service

Flexcar new car concept, sounded to good to be true. First few months were great. Then I had to start traveling further for work, called and emailed to change mileage usage and they began charging $48 per 100 miles or every day and a half. I called and emailed repeatedly and
Kept being told they were upgrading my problem with no call backs what so ever. Finally talked to a real person who did not have a clue, about the contract, how it worked, why it was
Costing me so much and again my call was being upgraded. Decided to return vehicle which would not work on the app. Called again guess what they said they would upgrade my call and then sometime in the middle of the night a covert mission to pick up the car. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. In the end , Yes too good to be true…outrageous billing with no answers…I have filed a grievance with the attorney generals office and bank. They should be ashamed of themselves with their bait and switch program…simply not the way to treat people

Good experience about 9 months in. If you have multi cars it's not cheaper though.

Good experience about 9 months in. Their claims about being less cost then owning are somewhat accurate if you have only 1 car so you have to then factor in that you will not have your own car insurance. If you have multiple cars in the household then NO it's definitely not cheaper. Why?

With Flexcar if you get 2 cars then insurance is 2X. When you have multiple cars in house normally and have 2 cars insurance is more like 1.2X. I think if they resolve that part then it may be interesting for multi car households.

Two things they do, on purpose, that annoy me:

1. If you are swapping cars it's difficult to find what the fuel level was on the car when you first got it. You'd think it would be in your swap email or easy to find on app...no. So what does that mean if you can't find it, people probably fill it up since that can't be wrong. Leaving this out is on purpose given how much they invested in technology.

2. Our app kept showing that we could "save" by upgrading plan, given the average miles we were driving per month. Not sure if this was done using our highest driving month but the message didn't change even 4-5 months later despite my knowing that we were frequently way UNDER the mileage plan we had. So no that wasn't our 'average' anymore. That too is on purpose since thats really easy to figure out.

So knowing the above we still use the program and keep the above in mind. Since we do have 2 cars we will exit when we purchase/lease whatever another car since as I said the insurance cost is WAY more with multiple cars in the family and using Flexcar.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed thoughts after 9 months with us. We hear your concerns about multi-car household costs, the visibility of fuel level details during swaps, and the plan upgrade messaging in the app. Feedback like this helps us improve both the member experience and how clearly information is presented.

My experience with Flex.

My experience was a good one with one exception I felt as though it was false advertising because the car that I originally was shown was nothing like the picture the inside and outside of the vehicle, and that was very disappointing because of what they are charging me to drive it the original interior is all gone and the floor is made out of cheap material. So no I’m not fully happy with Flex.

Thanks to Brandon and his team our intial experience has been great. Although we've only had the car about a week, so far, so good. The team has already checked in with us a few times via text and calls (yes, an actual human!) We are hoping this kind of experience continues. If it does, I think there will be a bunch of folks who suddenly realize this a great option to lease or use if you are between cars, on extended travel, etc. Much more affordable than the standard car rental (standard is about $60-$100 per day and Flexcar is about $30 - $60) for the equivalent vehicle. Nice choice in vehicles and easy pick up. Will update re: any other services, change fees, membership fees, etc. Thanks Flexcar!

Horrible service. Felt like a second rate citizen date of experience, is last 2 weeks. Daily

I got a flat tire. They didn't return my call, wouldn't answer. Then took a couple days to approve. Didn't have my car, all week. Doesn't seem seamless. I call to complain, leave messages, and I was told. Someone will get back to me in 2-8 hours. That was a week ago. Yet demanded payment immediately. Called it past due, on its due date. Absolutely disgusting service. No issue breaking promises, to get you to sign. Today is 7/10. Guarantee they will retaliate against me. I have reached out to them, daily. They clearly, hate us

SITTING WITH A DEAD CAR

SITTING WITH A DEAD CAR! I’ve had nothing but issues with their customer service. Sitting here with a dead vehicle zero transportation when I pay over $1000 a month a drive a vehicle. They are not willing to give me a loaner or swap my car out for me while they fix mine. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! this is not my fault that the car is dead. Their constant tracking killed the battery yet I’m left to pick up the pieces.

SHADY AND ILLEGAL!

I helped my wife with ONE payment of $502 and immediately took my card off file! Two days later they charged ANOTHER $502, but I just had my wife pay me back and we both emailed them. ...since then I've randomly been charged $36 THREE separate times EVEN THOUGH MY CARD IS "OFF FILE". ILLEGAL SHADY SCAMMERS ...STAY AWAY.

Paid in full.. car taken

I had a terrible experience with Flexcar. I paid **$788.85 upfront for a 30-day rental**, but the vehicle was taken back after only about **15 days**, leaving me without a car for the remaining half of my rental period.

I paid for 30 days of service and only received approximately 15 days. I expect a **refund for the unused 15 days**, as I should not have to pay for a service that was never provided.

This situation caused a significant inconvenience and disruption, and the lack of reliability and accountability is unacceptable. Customers should be able to trust that if they pay for a 30-day rental, they'll have access to a vehicle for the entire rental period or receive a prompt refund if the company ends the rental early.

Until Flexcar makes this right by refunding the unused portion of my rental, I cannot recommend their service.
