# Why You Should Stop Using FTMO in 2026

FTMO was once considered the best prop firm in the industry. It built a strong reputation by rewarding talented traders and setting the standard for funded trading. Unfortunately, in 2026, my experience has convinced me that it has become one of the worst.

I am sharing my own experience, but I also believe there are thousands of traders who have been treated unfairly and never had a voice. Many beginners simply accept FTMO's decisions because they think they have no choice.

In March 2026, FTMO refused to pay one of my payouts. They claimed it was because I had traded during news events and held positions over the weekend. Although I strongly disagreed with their decision, I accepted their explanation and decided to move on.

To avoid the same issue in the future, I purchased a Swing account, which is specifically advertised as allowing traders to hold positions over weekends and trade during news events. I successfully passed both evaluation phases and was expecting to start receiving payouts the following week.

However, during a trade where I risked only 1% of my account, FTMO suddenly intervened by closing my position without my authorization. Their action caused my account to lose approximately 6% instead of the original 1% risk, which ultimately resulted in my account being breached.

Even more concerning, FTMO acknowledged that the account had been breached because of their own intervention. Despite recognizing this, they refused to restore my account or provide any fair solution.

This experience completely destroyed my trust in FTMO. If a company can interfere with your trades, cause your account to fail, admit what happened, and still refuse to make it right, then every trader should be concerned.

I strongly advise traders to think carefully before choosing FTMO in 2026. There are many prop firms that respect their traders and handle disputes fairly. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend FTMO, and I believe traders should avoid risking their time and money with a company that, in my opinion, has treated its customers unfairly.

The trading experience and app interface is best in industry

I had a very disappointing experience with FTMO.

After trading on my challenge account, I received an email stating that I had violated their “cross-account hedging” policy. However, I was never provided with any specific evidence, such as the trades or accounts that allegedly triggered this decision.

I contacted support and requested clarification, but I was informed that the Risk Department’s decision was final without any detailed explanation. As a customer, I expected greater transparency before receiving a permanent ban.

I respect every company’s right to enforce its rules, but permanently banning a trader without providing sufficient details makes it very difficult to understand or address the issue.

I am writing this from a perspective of an ongoing 2 step challenge customer. Really clear objectives. After gaining a profit it is also transparent, as well as remaining part. Same works for losses, and levels of max daily loss/ objective failure.

Tech and customer support replies both quick and to the point. Even if the question seems weird, silly or is clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions document you will receive professional and calm reply.
