It's been years since I opened this app last time. The updates were installed really quickly, I have no complaints about that. But if you can't remember your password, the hell begins. You have two options: Send a verification code to your email (but apparently this email doesn't exist ?? o.0 ) or a message to your phone number to reset the password. The message never arrives. Will not use in the future (not that they even seem to want me to log in again, haha)

I've been using discord since mid 2022 and it's really fun and resourceful to use, I recently made a new account and after a few days after the account has been made, I get a pop-up telling me to verify my account by verifying my email, even though my account already had registered the email. This means I can't use discord as I wanted to because now I can't even get daily updates about what is happening.

PURE GARBAGE 🗑.

Was new to this app and wrote the word KILL...as in you KILL yourself working for flags, etc.
Next thing I got a rip from a mod because I used the "K" word. Was scratching my head thinking of some profanity starting with K.
She opened a ticket and explained rather patiently and calmly.
I of course agreed to the rules and we had a good chuckle in the end.
2 days later my K-word post was REPOSTED BY UNKNOWN USER. And as per usual the bored villagers were up in arms with their pitchforks and out for blood 🙄.
I then tried to defend myself with screenshots noting the date and the UNKNOWN USER, obviously NOT ME.
All the mod had to do was check the date, user and 2day old resolved ticket. But she, of no self worth, wanted to be a Hero and give the masses what they wanted.
So, in front of everyone I got PERMANENTLY BANNED.
And she got the virtual praises 👏 she so desperately needed.
Even though I had PROOF VIA SEVERAL SCREENSHOTS, EVEN CIRCLED THEM FOR THOSE WHO OBVIOUSLY CANT READ SIMPLE ENGLISH.
They were willing to let it go with the provision that I take ALL the blame.
I took the blame for my 1st post since I was unaware of the K word rule.
But I WILL NOT take the blame for SUPERMEGAPEACHY cuz she's too LAZY TO READ THE DATE.
BOTTOM LINE, MODS ABUSE THEIR POWER BECAUSE OF LOW SELF WORTH. AND WILL STICK TOGETHER EVEN IN THE FACE OF PROOF.
APPARENTLY IM NOT "FAMILY FRIENDLY". BUT THE LATE NIGHT "FLIRT" SESSIONS ARE FINE.
My anxiety has gone down ever since deleting this TOXIC app.

And when I did manage to get on discord it said my posts were au generated

there is no reason to download the discord client, as on the browser, it offers better performance and great responsiveness. discord client is annoying with the streamer thing, the in-game layout thing, and so many useless things that make my client lag that I HAVENT ASKED FOR

When I play on my ps I join discord to talk to my friends and they are weird about it and want to join private discord servers so I then get moved. When this happens I can’t leave the discord or join a discord and get completely stuck. This then means at this current moment of time I can’t use discord since it’s stuck. Sort your ps discord you dirty pricks.

I wish I could give an even lower rating the discord bot system banned my account for sending a meme to a friend in our private dms and when I tried to contact them and reason with them for suspending my account they didn’t even give a care and couldn’t respond for days they still haven’t by the way. I would understand if I got banned for a week or a month since I haven’t broken any other of their rules although I didn’t know sending a meme to someone could get you banned, but nevertheless I get it I broke the rules I deserve a “punishment” but I don’t agree with a permanent ban with one incident and again worst of all they can’t even message me to tell me why they consider it so bad it’s honestly pathetic how little care they give about their clients and how bad their support team is I would not recommend them whatsoever.

If you ever have a problem and you open a ticket, prepare for no resolution. As they do NOT respond at all. Try contacting through the BBB? They respond ONCE with a bot reply saying that they have many tickets open and nothing will be discussed in the claim. They age restricted my server after having no issues for 6 years, and nobody wants to talk or help. I pay them a lot of money for boosts and stuff in my server, makes me feel like crap that this is how they treat us.

Same as many others before me, my experience with the platform is also not a good one. Their automated system flagged my account as SPAM for joining 2 servers consecutively, which is a normal thing to do when you're looking for communities to join. Did absolutely nothing wrong, but my account, with an active subscription, is now limited for 2 years, which is crazy.

I tried to appeal, but my appeal was shot down without giving a reason or providing proof.

On top of that, they collect massive amounts of data on each user, which I know because I requested a copy of my data and could see the extent of it (I am registered since 2016).

The recent breach makes it only worse because they lied about how they store and process our data, with over 1,6 TB of personal data (including ID cards) leaked.

When my subscription runs out I'll have my account permanently (I hope) deleted.

unusable you get warned every 2 days and muted i literally have over 20 accounts banned and 100+ rule breaks for nothing completely garbage never buy anything that supports this company please somebody should shut this company down because they put in more effort into protecting pedophiles than making their app usable

Discord will charge you for a subscription even if you cancelled it and received confirmation. It happened to me TWO months in a row, and the second time they refused to refund me due to their 'refund policy' despite this being an obvious scam.

As someone who has the misfortune of working in customer support, I can tell you this is what companies do. Best avoid putting any money into Discord for anything, and make sure you firmly let them know you'll be taking legal actions against their behaviour.

Their customer support is all bots. I am letting everyone I know who uses Discord of their rotten/scammy practices and discouraging them from ever giving them any money. After this, I certainly won't spent a cent on their rotten service.

Discord was already growing an increasingly bad reputation, due to protecting abusive behaviour towards children and having moderators who identify as furries support said abusive behaviour.
They also would not apply their own code of conduct onto other furries, being a furry essentially got you special treatment.

This already left a sour taste in my mouth, but I just figured I'd leave all public servers so I wouldn't have to deal with public nonsense and only used the app for private discourse.

Then the company and app became increasingly focused on monetization, this came with a major increase in popups in 2025 "Buy this now!" "Enjoy this offer now!", besides all the other stuff going on and the data collection, this was starting to get on my nerves.

The final drop in the bucket was the recent data hack, it happens, but their response is what's crazy, their response was to FORCE a new terms of use on their users, no option to decline or accept later, no way to interact without first accepting the new EULA, it prevents you from sueing them, only able to go through arbitration now, if you accepted, you just gave up your right to take legal action when they are complacent with your data.

Would I be likely to sue them? No, but I'm sure we can all agree that this kind of response is absolutely disgusting and scummy, they're more worried about their own situation instead of being remorseful about your data or all the stuff that goes on on their platform.

I already deleted the apps and used the service via my browser to limit data collection, but now I'm really just done with Discord, I've requested permanent account deletion.

TLDR: Automated, ignored, AI without moderation

As much as I like the app and have many good memory, the way on how the moderation and the ticketing system is I don't think I will ever use this app ever again even if they lifted my ban I won't be using it as to how much of a bloatware it has become.

Account were banned left and right without context as to what caused the ban, when asked copy and pasted answer or just robot again no human answer it, better yet if no one reply to the ticket after 2-3 hours the ticket will be marked as solved without anything got solved at all.

As much as I've loved discord before I can't ever see it the same way again thank you for the opportunity you gave me before.

I want to share my experience so others don’t fall into the same trap I did.

My Discord account was logged out after using a VPN. From that moment, I’ve been completely locked out. Discord requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA) or backup codes to log back in. But here’s the catch:

If you don’t have your backup codes saved, and you’re not already logged in on another device, your account is gone forever.

Discord Support will keep sending you the same scripted replies — “reset your password,” “use backup codes,” “check authenticator app” — even after you explain none of those work.

They refuse to disable MFA/security keys under any circumstance — even if you prove you’re the real owner through your email, tickets, IP history, or screenshots.

The only “solution” they offer is to delete your account.

This means if your account gets hacked, or flagged by Discord’s own system (like mine did), you can lose everything — servers you created, communities you moderate, friendships, even Nitro purchases — with no way to recover.

💡 The sad truth:
Discord would rather let real users lose access than risk staff overriding MFA for hackers. Their policy protects them, not us.

If you use Discord, save your backup codes NOW in a safe place. If you don’t, you’re one logout away from losing your account forever.

I personally won’t be spending a cent on Discord after this. It’s clear they don’t care about users who get locked out by their own flawed system.

It’s time people start looking for better, more reliable alternatives to this shady service. Don’t wait until it happens to you.

I'd rate Discord a 0 if I could.. For a hell of a lot of reasons.. If Discord has any 'suspicion' that you might be a bot or spammer or for any 'reason' they might have, they will force you to enter your phone number.. Not only that, but even after you put your number in and then try to remove it after you verify yourself, it brings you back to the phone verification screen because you're forced to use a phone number in order to access your account again. I've tried to contact Discord, they use to also have a way to contact them through email, but they apparently no longer do that. But Discord only uses a automatic bot to respond to emails now.. No human whatsoever..

Also on Discord, your account can not only get reported and no human looks at the issue (instead it's just a bot), your account can even get suspended or banned by a lot of people or even from just ONE PERSON who can falsely report you many times and still have no way of getting your account back after you're suspended for anything that goes against Discord's policy, again without any real person from Discord to find out what happened. It can be easy to get in trouble on Discord if you're not careful.

Another thing.. This was from another account I had, but JUST RECENTLY, my account also got a message from the Official Discord messages, and Discord said my account is limited for 'age inappropriate content' that was reported over 800 days ago back in May 2023!!!! And I didn't get the notification until just around now as of September 2025!!!!!!!! I have absolutely no idea what I posted back at that time and all this time since, I didn't think it was anything that seriously broke Discord's policy at all, but somehow I don't get reported for something that I most likely been falsely reported for by someone back over 2 damn years ago.. But Discord did not send me a message about the report or did not limit my account in May 2023, until September 2025 instead! And these Discord reasons for account suspension/bans are absolutely ridiculous because for instance they've only told me I'm limited for 'age inappropriate content' and not show me the exact message or any image for what I'm reported for exactly...

If something also happens to my account, and if I already have friends added on there or have done so much on my account that I don't want to lose, I could possibly download data from my account if needed, but not that it would get everything I have done on it, but that I'd also need a backup account and add friends on there too incase if something happens to my account.. But should we have to do that?

To put it all in short, I'm also experiencing a lot of problems other people are experiencing too.. And Discord hasn't fixed these issues for years...

Even though this can be absolutely insane and I couldn't be any more pissed off than ever, to be fair it can be an okay app to be honest, however when it comes to huge issues and so many issues on Discord like this and from what all users including myself are experiencing, Discord's just god awful.. If something comes up much better than Discord, I am f***ing leaving Discord for good.. Bet a lot of people on Discord now would do the same..

What happened to discord. I didn't use it for 10 years and then came back to find that discord turned into a bad joke.
What the hell are these shitty Buyable boostpacks or nitro plans? To be honest I don't even want to know.
I miss the old discord from the past. RIP

It usually doesn't open, crashes and uses so much internet.

Atleast its fun to use but it is so slow.

*UPDATE*I got falsely banned for child safety on my account for no reason, all my other accounts got banned aswell for ban evasion while i have done nothing wrong, support is legit non existent just AI. Sad to see such a amazing app go downhill... i mean the reviews speak for them self 1 star on trustpilot that is next level of a downfall. Hope to see a proper response from team discord on my appeal one day. Twinsuo is my username. UPDATE Here, Got a automated mail back that the punishment will stay sadly they used AI to do this instead of proper human check. I have taken legal action for defamation and asked for my chat history and data and will full on fight them for this as EU Laws apply to them i will give discord 1 month to give me my data and if i see nothing that proves their claim on me the issue will be escalated further 1415093898669199420 is my support ticket discord. If u read this do ur proper check and give me proof of what ive done.
