Bookshop.org is an online bookshop with a mission to financially support local, independent bookshops. We believe that bookshops are essential to a healthy culture. They are where authors can connect with readers, where we discover new writers, where children get hooked on the thrill of reading that can last a lifetime. They are also anchors for our communities -- owned, staffed, run and full of real people who have a genuine love of books and reading. As more and more people buy their books online, we wanted to create an easy, convenient way for you to get your books and support independent bookshops at the same time. If you want to support a specific bookshop, select them from our map and they’ll receive 30% of the cover price (or almost all of the profit) on your orders for a year. Otherwise, 10% of the cover price of your order will contribute to an earnings pool that will be evenly distributed among participating independent bookshops each month. By design, we give away the vast majority of our profit to bookshops, publications, authors and the many others who make up the thriving, inspirational culture around books and reading.

Pleased with first purchase
Fast, kept updated by email on order status and shipment tracking. Book arrived in great condition showing care with packaging.
Speed of Molasses
When we placed the order, we got a prompt asking to support yall over the Amazon’s of the world… it took five days for yall to fulfill our order and nearly two weeks to receive the package. Five days between receiving the order and getting a box filled with the items, before even making it to USPS. If we had placed the same order on Amazon, it would have taken three hours. While I understand you don’t have their infrastructure, you certainly don’t have their sense of urgency, either. I don’t want to support them over you, but three hours over two weeks is significant.

Great customer service
I hastily hit "pay" on an order before I realized that I hadn't updated my mailing address since a recent move. I sent in inquiry to Bookshop and received a reply FROM A REAL PERSON in just a day. The issue was resolved quickly, and I'll receive my book at the right address.
In a world of robots, it's so refreshing to speak to a real customer service expert. Thank you.
