Switzerland
Switzerland (German: Schweiz; French: Suisse; Italian: Svizzera; Romanch: Svizra) is an alpine country in Western Europe, famous for its numerous varieties of cheese. It is visited by Mario during the events of the Club Nintendo comic "Sag niemals Holerö!".
The plumber, exhausted with laying pipes, goes on a vacation to Switzerland. There, he skiis down a slope, when some other skiers notices that someone is singing "Holerö". Suddenly all of the inhabitants turn into cheese, due to the magic potency of the word "Holerö" which, when pronounced, turns all people except Mario into a kind of food typical of the person's country of origin.
Mario, terrified of these transformations, decides to leave Switzerland as soon as possible. At the airport, however, he finds that the crew of his American airline, which is supposed to take him back to New York, has turned into hot dogs. Doubting of the hot dogs' ability to fly a plane, Mario decides to go to Austria by train instead, in order to go to Germany and to go back to New York from there.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee, "Switzerland" is the name for a bonus in the Classic, All-Star, and Adventure modes, and it is worth 12000 points if the player does not give nor receive attacks. The name, as well as the conditions for receiving this bonus, is a reference to the country's policy of armed neutrality, adopted and maintained since 1815.
