The Blaufisch, as he refers to himself, is a blue fish appearing in the Club Nintendo comic "Das Vermächtnis des Dr. Lichtblitz". He appears to be loosely based on a Kine, an ocean sunfish-like creature appearing in the Kirby series.
Mario, dreaming of becoming a private detective, sets off to his future workplace, only to find the Blaufisch in a fishbowl on a desk. The Blaufisch explains that his previous owner left him on the desk, wishing for Mario to change his water and buy him a larger fishbowl. Mario explains that he wants to be a detective, not a fish farmer, though the Blaufisch says that he can be useful to him, explaining that he was his predecessor's assistant (Kirby) and he can do anything for him. Mario, excited by this offer, opens his own detective agency, Marioso, a few days later.
Now owning his own detective agency, Mario decides to take the Blaufisch to a place where he has more space to swim in. The Blaufisch, believing it to be a built-in hot tub, is disappointed to find that Mario took him a toilet, commenting that it is not exactly what he expected. Mario, however, reasons that it can act as a wave pool, flushing the Blaufisch down the drain as he screams for help. After flushing him down the toilet, Mario worries that he may have clogged up the drain.
Later, as Mario laments how difficult his first case is, the Blaufisch suddenly pops out of a drain, furious of having been flushed down the toilet. However, the two are later back on speaking terms in a short time, and are now at the Blaufischbar, discussing Mario's case. Seeing the photos taken by the Game Boy Camera, the Blaufisch notes that they depict UFOs, and deduces that Dr. Light's prototype camera is now in the hands of aliens, saying that they have just flown away with it. Mario realizes that they must go after them, and the two head off to space in a spaceship.
In space, the Blaufisch spots a spaceship resebling Kirby, with Mario noting its resemblance to him. Aboard the spaceship, the Blaufisch spots a photo on the wall that makes him nervous, to which Mario notes that it appears to have been taken by the Game Boy Camera. They then spot the camera floating in midair, with Mario wondering how it is possible. Suddenly, a giant shadow appears on the wall, frightening that two. As Mario and the Blaufisch fear about being eaten by the "monster", the Game Boy Camera lands in Kirby's hand before greeting the two.
Kirby explains to Mario and the Blaufisch that he borrowed the camera for his flying detective agency, explaining that he works in space protecting the Earth from aliens. He continues by explaining that he also took photos of some of the aliens, explaining that, though some were malicious, others were friendly, even exchanging recipes with them. Mario comments that it is amazing, though adds that Dr. Light has lost his mind ever since he took the camera, with the Blaufisch explaining that he thinks he is a bird in his padded cell. Kirby realizes that they must do something about this, and the three return to Earth to explain the situation to Dr. Light. The Blaufisch is last seen at the end of the comic, in a yellow pot of water holding a glass while commenting that the doctor is back to normal.
What appears to be another member of his species appears at the Blaufischbar as a dancer.

Notes[edit]
- While he does not appear in the comic, Kirby disguises himself as him in the comic "Kirby und das Geheimnis des Glibbers". In the comic, his fins are a smaller size; his dorsal fin is closer to his tail fins; his pectoral fins are colored yellow instead of light-blue, and his tail fins are the same color as his body.
