“Building the physical infrastructure for America’s future requires significantly increasing the pipeline of skilled tradespeople across the country – a challenge that can only be addressed with collective action.” — Ruth Porat on our new Skilled Trades Alliance in partnership with BlackRock, Carhartt, and Ford Motor Company. To help meet the growing demand for skilled trades workers, Google is joining forces with BlackRock, Carhartt, and Ford to launch the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades. Together we'll expand apprenticeships, modernize training, and help fill hundreds of thousands of open jobs. We're starting with training programs across 30 states, with the goal of expanding nationwide. To multiply our impact, the alliance is focusing on three key areas: -Building a stronger pipeline for the skilled trades. -Scaling proven, evidence-based training approaches. -Inviting new partners to help expand opportunities nationwide.  Learn more about the alliance in this Fortune op-ed co-authored by the founding companies. https://lnkd.in/gBRBbQ7E

The best part about landing an internship as part of your graduate degree? Getting to solve real-world problems alongside the engineers who built the systems you learned about. After moving from India to the US to pursue his graduate degree, Smit landed a Software Engineering internship at Google, where he’s getting hands-on exposure to some of the world's most complex computing systems. Today, his day-to-day tasks directly impact the physical foundations keeping the internet online. “I wanted to be part of a collaborative culture that continuously pushes the boundaries of innovation,” he explains. “Knowing that Google operates some of the most complex computing infrastructure in the world, I was eager to gain hands-on experience optimizing the systems that power the cloud.” Ready to take your advanced research from theory to planet-scale production? Some stories endure even without images. On August 2, 1959, Pelé scored against Clube Atlético Juventus what he would later describe as the most beautiful goal of his career. The goal at Rua Javari was never captured on film, yet it lived on for decades through the memories of those who witnessed it and in the imagination of generations. Now, in partnership with Google, that moment has been brought to life in an unprecedented cinematic reconstruction, shaped by historical research, memory, and technology. More than recreating a moment on the pitch, the project offers a new way to experience one of the most iconic stories of Pelé’s career. The result is a gift to sports fans everywhere. A work that keeps the King’s legacy alive and, above all, gives a new generation the opportunity to discover his story, understand his greatness, and be inspired by it. The goal at Rua Javari comes to life again. Watch the full project: https://lnkd.in/dKdXXvEw

As the leader of our Applied AI Tech team across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Cristina guides a growing organization with two distinct engineering paths. If you’re looking to apply your skills to real-world AI, understanding the difference can help you find your perfect fit: 🔹 Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs): The hands-on builders who work directly with clients to deeply customize, write the code and physically deploy live generative AI tools into production. 🔹 Customer Engineers: The strategic tech architects who map out and design high-level cloud infrastructures using Google technology to solve complex business problems. To thrive in either role, Cristina shares that developing a very specific type of professional fluency is key: "You need to be multilingual — and I don’t just mean speaking Italian, English and Spanish! You need to speak 'Code,' 'Product' and 'Business. The best engineers and leaders in this space can sit in a room with deeply technical developers to debug a GenAI architecture, and then walk into a boardroom and clearly articulate to a CEO exactly how that architecture will drive revenue." Ready to expand your coding skills into real-world business strategy?
