I initially and inadvertently made two payments when ordering a translation of a birth certificate. I sent an immediate explanation on 14th October, and subsequently sent proof of the overpayment. I was assured by email that the matter would be forwarded to the billing department for review. Several emails have simply repeated the same obligatory messages, and phone calls promising action have been equally unsuccessful. There obviously has been confusion over the two payments but Translayte it seems has made no attempt to address the issue and has provided very poor customer service. It is a small refund but a most fruatrating experience.

Fast and accurate translation. I am 100% satisfied.

I recently ordered a translation for a notary appointment relating to a succession procedure. As I had an appointment already scheduled to whic I need to travel from France to to Spain, I ordered the translation to be delivered a week ahead of time. When I received the first digital draft I noticed there was a mistake in the translation and send it back to be corrected. However, 2 days later I received the document with the same mistake again. I again sent it back and again I received the same documents. Noticing that the time was slipping away i phoned the service, who assured me that they would assure the translation to be corrected and send.Again I received a copy with the same mistake. Suspecting that it was a mistake of the wrong documents being sent, I again phoned the service, and this time the mistake was picked up. However the deadline for the paper copies to arrive in time was at this stage past. I had to go to the appointment without the paper copies and plead my case. I was grateful that the notary accepted the digital copies, as I would have been unable to extend my stay until the final delivery of the papers. What I am upset about is the lack of accountability from the service that has been shown to me, no gesture of good will besides a a message indicating that the service cannot guarantee the delivery times and a promise that their translations are verified and certified.

I had two translations done. In both cases, I needed corrections and they were extremely helpful and responsive. I was very happy with the final output and the price. I recommend them highly.

Translayte provided a swift and accurate certified translation of a Latin-language degree parchment for me, at a reasonable price. UPDATE — OCTOBER 25, 2026

My experience with Translayte has been an extraordinary example of organizational dysfunction, inadequate customer service, and an alarming lack of accountability.

I placed my first order on October 8, paying extra for urgent DHL delivery. I placed a second order on October 15, paying €207.33 for another certified translation.

Today is October 25. SEVENTEEN DAYS after my first order, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED EITHER PACKAGE.

What followed these purchases is almost unbelievable.

Translayte scheduled and subsequently cancelled FOUR separate shipments, generated multiple tracking references, and sent a seemingly endless succession of contradictory notifications.

I have exchanged approximately 50 emails and automated notifications with this company. Different representatives repeatedly apologized, promised investigations, and assured me that matters had been escalated.

Yet nobody seemed capable of performing the most basic task: ensuring that completed documents were actually delivered.

After four cancelled shipments, I was informed that their Shipping Department would investigate the problem. Why it took four cancellations and numerous complaints to involve the department responsible for shipping remains incomprehensible.

The company subsequently admitted that a courier had refused collection because of a shipping-label problem. An alternative carrier was supposedly arranged.

On October 22, I was assured that the documents had finally been dispatched through La Poste, with delivery expected within 48 hours.

Three days later, I still have nothing.

The company has provided only one tracking number, without adequately clarifying the shipment status of both orders.

Another particularly troubling detail: although Translayte insists that the translations were completed on time, I did not receive the certified electronic translation until October 22—and only because I explicitly demanded that they email it to me.

Completing a translation is not the same as delivering the service for which a customer has paid.

After I published my initial one-star review, Translayte acknowledged its responsibility and offered to refund the shipping charges for BOTH orders.

I accepted their offer. As of October 25, I have still not received confirmation that either refund has been processed.

The translation itself is not the central issue. The problem is the company’s apparent inability to coordinate its departments, communicate reliably, fulfill delivery commitments, or resolve complaints without extraordinary intervention from the customer.

Customers should not have to become unpaid logistics coordinators for a professional translation company.

These are official documents required for administrative procedures in France. Delays matter, and reliability is not an optional extra.

Seventeen days, four cancelled shipments, dozens of messages, repeated apologies, and still no physical documents.

An utterly unacceptable customer experience.

I cannot recommend Translayte to anyone who needs certified documents delivered reliably or within a specific timeframe.

One star remains an entirely appropriate rating.

I’m posting this as an honest warning for students, expats, and anyone dealing with Spanish bureaucracy, universities, or immigration. Do not use Translayte for sworn translations (traducciones juradas) destined for Spain.

Here is what happened and why their service is a massive waste of time and money:

1. Their "certified digital delivery" is legally non-compliant in Spain.
Translayte will charge you for an electronic sworn translation, but what you actually receive is completely unacceptable to Spanish authorities and public universities. Under Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC) regulations, an electronic sworn translation requires a qualified digital signature (Firma Electrónica Avanzada / FNMT with a verifiable CSV code).

Instead, their translator simply printed out their own copy, hand-signed/stamped it (wet signature), and scanned it into an unverified PDF. In Spain, a scan of a wet signature holds zero legal validity and will be rejected on the spot.

2. Predatory domestic shipping prices ($150 to mail an envelope inside Spain).
Because the scanned digital PDF was legally useless for my son's university processing in Madrid, I requested the physical, stamped hard copy. The translator was located in Alicante.
Translayte quoted $150 USD just to ship a standard paper envelope from Alicante to Madrid.

To put that into perspective:

Shipping the original documents internationally from New Orleans, USA to Madrid via tracked express courier cost half that amount.
A standard domestic tracked delivery via Correos, SEUR, or MRW within Spain costs roughly €5 to €15.
3. Five days of runaround while deadlines slipped.
When I challenged the absurd $150 shipping quote, support told me they were "verifying less expensive shipping options." They dragged it out for 5 full days, only to come back and say that $150 was their final rate and they wouldn't budge.

Summary:
They delivered a digital file that doesn't meet MAEC legal standards, tried to gouge me for $150 to send a letter 4 hours up the road domestically, wasted nearly a week of crucial time, and refused to provide reasonable solutions.

I’ve had to request a full chargeback through my card provider and hire a reputable local walk-in agency directly in Madrid (where you can just pick up the stamped hard copies in person without courier extortion).

Save yourself the headache, money, and missed administrative deadlines—stay far away from Translayte for Spanish official paperwork.

There was nothing wrong with the translation, but something went pretty wrong in getting it to me. Received 15 or more emails asking me to pay up while the site clearly showed my payments!
