h…Hastings branch randomly closes when it wants

It seems the staff at Hastings branch in Queens road like to pack up early on a Bank holiday. First they close the main doors to the high Street so it's only accessible by the mall just to reduce expectations I guess and that's it 3.30 and the shops closed. So if like me you pay 3 pound for half an hour parking turn up and its closed, the post office in there is closed too then your gonna be writing a deserved bad review. Its just so slack and it's not good enough.

WHsmith's culture!

It's not difficult to realise when a business is going down! Low turnout of customers, bad customer service, unresponsive communication (try to ring them and see if they answer!), late arrival of some newspapers and magazines etc. The high street branches are sold recently (God help the new owners!).

Prices are fortune in hospital. Disgusting

The last place you expect to overpay is in the hospital. WHSmith in Tameside hospital has prices close to airport. You can’t leave direct review and probably that’s why that shop is still there. Disgusting how WHSmith making money on ill people.

Ripoff Pricing

While waiting to collect someone from Heathrow Terminal 3 yesterday, I thought I’d buy some mints so visited your store in the Arrivals area. I was shocked to see a single tube of Trebor mints priced at £2.69 and refused to buy. I quickly checked online and a well known supermarket is selling four such tubes of Trebor mints for £1.44, that’s £0.36 per tube. So, even if W H Smiths bought mints from the supermarket, you’d still be making a massive 550% profit. I fully understand that running a shop in Heathrow is expensive but 550% (or more) mark up? Really? How do you justify?

Prices

I have had to frequently visit the Leicester Royal Infirmary for the last 6 months. Early on, I visited the store as I wanted a chocolate bar. I was really shocked by the pricing.

Another time I thought, I'm really hungry I have no choice so thought I'd try again but I still couldn't bring myself to purchase anything.

Today, as I have to go straight to work I decided to "bite the bullet" and get a meal deal. However, when I saw the price was over £5, once again I left.

How can these prices be justified in a hospital? Unfortunately, many people will pay because they have no choice but this feels like exploitation. There are no other shops nearby so you have a trapped market and these people are there due to ill health.
These prices in this environment, shows the company has little regard for customers and money is their only concern.

Don’t pay the amusing inflated prices

On visiting WHSmith I am amazed how they can justify such high prices. It is amusing to just walk around the store and look at the shelf price labels. One can only imagine that the customers spending money in Smiths don’t know the normal prices of confectionery Snacks and drinks.

Avoid WHSmith Departures EDI

Avoid WHSmith Departures – Edinburgh Airport

I’ve used this WHSmith in Edinburgh Airport departures a few times as a regular traveller, and unfortunately the service has been consistently poor.

On my most recent visit, I bought a few small items. The prices charged did not match what was displayed. When I raised this, the member of staff was dismissive and said he didn’t know how to change it and that “the prices are what they are – if it’s wrong, I can’t do anything about it.”

I ended up having to resolve the issue myself using the self-checkout, which is not what you expect as a paying customer.

The same staff member also appeared disengaged and more interested in his phone than assisting customers. This is not an isolated experience, as I’ve encountered a similar attitude on a previous visit.

Given this is an airport store where prices are already high, customers would reasonably expect accuracy, professionalism, and basic assistance when issues arise. That standard was not met.

For others considering using this store, be aware that my experience of customer service has been poor and inconsistent.

You walk into the WHSmith

You walk into the WHSmith. There is that consistent feeling of both sheer wisdom and cleaner fluid that loosely hangs in the air as you walk in.

If you have ever been in Britain for a good amount of time there is a guarantee you’ve been in one, from time or another. There is always a reason for coming in, and I’ve never known a person, who says they come to browse.

The Times Bestsellers rack or Discount table is always approached by first. On the right, you may have a billard for the post office. Every WHSmith is different yet nearly all are organised the same. Papers on the outside nearby, chocolates and confectionary 10 steps away.

You breath, the WHSmith worker looking away in the far corner; Of which there always are at least two at any time. No more, no less. Either they are stocking items or lounging at the counter.

Ahh, ya gotta love it at times, or not.

Poor customer service

I was served 5mins ago by a gentleman at Stockport train station platform 2 who looked very unhappy and like he didn't want to be there.
Initially when I went to the til noone was there so I went to the self checkout but that didnt seem to work which was fine but he just let me stand there instead of coming over to me.
He was very unapproachable and didn't smile or make eyes contact with me which in my opinion, is the opposite of good customer service.

The sandwich range is a huge rip off

The sandwich range is a huge rip off. I bought a chicken caesar salad wrap and there was pracfically no chicken in it. Mostly dough and lettuce. How you can justify paying more than other brands I do not know. Will not buy again

RIP OFF PRICES AT BELFAST AIRPORT
Don’t buy anything from WHSmith at Belfast International Airport. A bag of Twiglets is £2.69.

A single 45g bag of Twiglets typically costs around £0.80–£1.20 in UK supermarkets,

That is 220-300% more than normal retail prices.
