Never use Qatar if you are going to India

We booked with Qatar to go to Mumbai. The first leg from Manchester to Doha was fine. However their partner Indigo were meant to take us to Mumbai, but the flight never got off the ground. We lost 23 hours of our time in India and Qatar took NO RESPONSIBILITY whatsoever for trying to help any of the passengers. Indigo were terrible.

My advice is if you are going to India, never use Qatar as their partner Indigo are shockingly poor.

After 13 years of flying with Qatar…

After 13 years of flying with Qatar Airways, I never imagined I would have to write a review like this. Unfortunately, my recent experience has completely changed my perception of the airline.

What disappointed me most was not simply the financial cost, but the complete lack of empathy, compassion and genuine customer support shown by the airline’s medical team when dealing with a sensitive medical situation involving my elderly parents.

Both my parents have underlying health conditions that require further medical examinations. My mother suffers from a chronic abdominal hernia that has worsened, while my father has an underlying heart condition. Following medical assessments in Australia, further specialist examinations were recommended, and they were not considered fit to travel until these appointments had been completed.

I contacted Qatar Airways requesting an extension of their return tickets on medical grounds. I submitted official hospital documentation and made repeated attempts to resolve the matter. To my disbelief, the medical team rejected the request seven times.

Let that sink in. Seven rejections, despite providing hospital documentation explaining the medical circumstances of two elderly passengers.

Eventually, I had no choice but to pay approximately USD 250 per passenger to change their flights. Where is the customer care in this situation? Where is the understanding that genuine medical circumstances sometimes require flexibility?

What makes this experience even more frustrating is the airline’s apparent double standard. When Qatar Airways cancels or changes a booking, passengers are expected to adjust their plans. Yet when a customer needs to make a change because of legitimate and documented medical circumstances, the customer is faced with penalties that can reach USD 300–400.

Customer service should not be a one-way obligation. Flexibility and understanding should work both ways.

I was not asking for a refund, compensation or anything unreasonable. I was simply asking for consideration and an extension of ticket validity to allow my elderly parents to complete necessary medical examinations before travelling.

After 13 years of loyalty, this experience has taught me a very important lesson: loyalty means very little when a customer needs support the most.

I have always believed that how a company treats its customers during difficult circumstances says far more about its values than how it treats them when everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, Qatar Airways failed that test.

This experience has left me questioning the airline’s commitment to customer care. I will certainly think twice before ever recommending Qatar Airways or choosing to fly with them again.

This is precisely why airlines such as KLM continue to earn my respect for their customer-focused approach. Customer service is not just about processing bookings and collecting fees; it is about understanding people, showing empathy and doing the right thing when circumstances are beyond their control.

QATAR = UNRELIABLE = BAD POLICIES = LAST MINUTE CANCELLATION.

They cancelled my FIL trip last minute even though the flight itself is not cancelled. And they won't even give me the itinerary that I am comfortable with. He is 73 year old who is travelling alone so I chose this itinerary because I had a company for him. They won't honor the same first leg even though the flight is still operational because his next flight is an issue and it'd cost them overnight hotel accommodation if they kept the first leg same. I also suggested another route that because my FIL aslo can't speak english. And they can't honor because of the higher fare not approved by policy and they didn't think twice before canceling the trip.

Customer rep tried to help but they can't because of extremely bad policies by Qatar. They are not customer centric at all. I've had the exact same experience in Jun when I came to know at the airport that they have cancelled the trip. They asked my wife to take a new route and then she was stuck because her luggage didn't arrive. They charged for the seat booking but they canceled the reservation and made a new reservation so my seats booking money was simply wasted. Same thing is happening again.

For Refund they won't give full ticket only partial refund because one way trip is used.

I'd not recommend this airline to anyone for their international travel. They have done it twice and are extremely UNRELIABLE

NEVER EVER AGAIN ON THIS CORRUPT…

NEVER EVER AGAIN ON THIS CORRUPT AIRLINE ‼️‼️
I flew on Qatar Airways on 23 and 24 August 2026. From Johannesburg to Qatar, then to Sri Lanka. This short route costs me a lot. Their booking website asks who your co-share airline is and your membership number. I supplied Qantas and my number (because they are part of the One World Group).
After the flight, Qatar Airways REFUSED to give me any frequent flyer miles or status credits with Qantas ‼️‼️ They even ignore all emails ‼️‼️
I should have flown with another HONEST airline. Next time I will be clever.

1 Star – Staggering £1,391.90 Excess Baggage Charge!

Absolutely staggering! My entire return flight to Australia cost £1,040.22, yet Qatar Airways charged me an additional eye-watering £1,391.90 for excess baggage!

I contacted Qatar TWICE before travelling because I couldn't purchase another hold bag online due to a Virgin Australia connecting flight. I was told I could pay at Heathrow.

What I wasn't told was that I'd be charged a whopping £44.90 PER KILOGRAM above my existing 25 kg allowance!

Had I known the cost would be so astronomical, I would NEVER have taken that much luggage to the airport. I would have made alternative arrangements!

I accept the charges were calculated correctly, but the lack of clear advice and price transparency was appalling, especially when I'd specifically contacted them beforehand.

Despite escalating my complaint, Qatar refused any goodwill refund.

Extortionate charges, dreadful customer service and absolutely no goodwill. Never again!

Been trying to get compensation for years

Been trying to get compensation for flight delay since 2022.When we went to the Maldives we missed our connecting flight from Doha and had to spend overnight in Doha airport
All we were given was a voucher for a pastry and a drink we then missed our connecting flight to our resort. There were 4 of us travelling together but shortly before boarding we were told only 3 seats available. We were not allowed to travel in twos so one traveled on there own 3 and half hours later
We tried applying for compensation back in 2022 two of us got £520 each then lines of communication stopped working
All email addresses bounce back claim forms on google dont work and their App is useless
Decided to try again using Skyrefund fingers crossed they will have more luck
They charge 35% fee but hopefully will get some kind of recompense

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Qatar Airways

I had a very disappointing experience with Qatar Airways and their customer service team.

Before travelling from the UK to Dubai, my wife obtained a Fit to Fly certificate from a UK doctor, which was accepted without any issues when we travelled from the UK to Dubai. At no point during our outbound journey were we informed that we would need to obtain a new Fit to Fly certificate before returning to the UK, especially considering that our stay in Dubai was only 7 days.

When we arrived at the airport for our return flight, we presented the same Fit to Fly certificate. However, the Qatar Airways customer service staff, including the team leader, refused to accept it and informed us that we would not be allowed to board. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of empathy or willingness to help. We were simply told that it was "not their fault" and advised to go to the nearest hospital to obtain another certificate.

As a result, we had no choice but to leave the airport and urgently visit a hospital to obtain a new Fit to Fly certificate, at a cost of nearly 900 AED. This was not a simple inconvenience. My wife was heavily pregnant at the time, and both of us had to rush back and forth between the airport and the hospital under significant time pressure in order to avoid missing our flight. The physical strain, stress, and potential risk involved for a woman in the later stages of pregnancy should not be underestimated. What made the situation even more frustrating was that this could have been entirely avoided had Qatar Airways clearly communicated this requirement before travel.

The entire situation felt unreasonable, particularly given that no one had advised us of this requirement in advance. We acted in good faith, relying on documentation that had already been accepted by Qatar Airways for the outbound journey, and had no reason to believe a new certificate would be required just seven days later.

To make matters worse, my wife's sister had been in a very similar situation and was able to travel with Emirates using her existing Fit to Fly documentation without encountering any issues.

This experience caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, additional expense, and considerable anxiety at a time when my wife's health and wellbeing should have been the priority. While policies are policies, the way the situation was handled demonstrated extremely poor customer service. A little empathy, clearer communication, and proactive guidance could have prevented a very frustrating and potentially risky situation.

Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will think twice before choosing Qatar Airways again and would struggle to recommend the airline to family and friends!!!

My Name is Hersi Ahmed an American…

My Name is Hersi Ahmed an American Citizen Traveling to and from Addis Ababa to Hyderabad with my daughter via Doha Qatar on 4th of November 2026 back to Our final Destination.
We were suppose to get a complimentary Hotel for our 14Hrs till our next flight, now the condition was that if there was an immediate flight to our destination then we don’t get a Hotel because one can change their ticket to that flight and move on or no complimentary hotel understandably but the Qatar help desk told us there is no immediate flight to our destination but there’s one that is coming from Hyderabad but not going to Addis Ababa and so they can’t unfortunately give us the Hotel which makes absolutely no sense, we believe these flights are managed by third party company called Indigo and they absolutely don’t care about the dignity and name of Qatar Airways, I have made the lady at the help desk to write down on my boarding pass about the refusal reason that there is only a flight coming from where I just came from which is Hyderabad and that there’s no flight going to my destination, I took a picture of my boarding pass and I am sharing it online for everyone to see.
even though Qatar Airways was my favorite Airline but from now on I have think twice before opting for it in the future.

Avoid. Worlds worst customer service, deny boarding for no legitimate reason

Myself and my two children were denied boarding from edinburgh to phuket. When checking in there were three people waiting for availability who had been bumped from the previous overbooked flight. By no coincidence suddenly our passports had issues and we were denied boarding. Staff openly admitted that the flight was full. I travelled the same day, with emirates to phuket, on the same passports, and eight times thereafter with no issues. The customer service has been shocking. I contacted the local newspaper and the civil aviation authority and qatar failed to reply. Qatar were also aware my son had additional support needs due to booking assistance, and showed no empathy, advised of no next steps or policies/procedures, no written confirmation of the refusal to board, just shut the check in desk and left. It’s been one year since this event and I’ve had to take legal action as they fail to reply to any emails or calls. Im disgusted on how this whole situations been dealt with and 100% believe qatar bump passengers off overbooked flights for false reasons to avoid paying compensation, making it appear that it is not themselves at fault.

Not one customer service agent has called me over the past year, and every email reply contradicts the previous one.

For the “worlds best airline” it’s the worlds worst customer service

Honest Airline

This is to say how happy I was to find not only a very good airline but an honest one as well. I unfortunately left a Patek Philippe watch and a silver bracelet in the security tray whilst going through on our way back to England. I realised an hour later and rushed back not expecting anything. The helpful staff bought them to me straightaway and I was astonished and so pleased so thank you Qatar Airways for your honesty.

Poor Service and Lack of Assistance

One of the worst airline experiences I have ever had. Our flight from Jeddah was delayed, causing us to miss our connection to Edinburgh. My mother, who has knee and back medical conditions, was left without wheelchair assistance, and we spent 5 exhausting hours at the airport without proper support or accommodation. We also faced unreasonable baggage handling and further delays on our return journey, nearly missing our connection again.

The lack of care, organization, and professionalism was shocking. I honestly don’t understand how Qatar Airways is ranked among the world’s best airlines. Based on my experience, it deserves the opposite. I will never fly with Qatar Airways again.

Their flights are unnecessarily Delayed and Baggage lost not found yet 24 hrs passed

Their flights are unnecessarily delayed.
I embarked on their flight from London Heathrow to Islamabad Pakistan with a connect in at Doha.Flight QR 110 LHR-DOH dated 1st Nov was delayed unnecessarily as I could see ground staff not much interested in boarding passengers timely like other Airlines.Flight departed heathrow half hour late at 1600 hrs rather than original time 1530 hrs.Naturally it reached Doha late and next flight QR614 DOH-ISB 2nd Nov 2025 was also delayed. It took off at 0300 am rather than original time of 0205 am local time. Reached Islamabad at 0850 hrs local time , 1 hour 25 mins late. And worst cherry on the pie was that most of the passengers from UK didn't recieve their check in luggage. Kept waiting at belt till 1130 hrs local time and than was told that It didn't come with flight rather left at Doha in hurry by Airline. It's been 24 hrs passed and no news of our checked in luggage yet. The contact # they gave 00925159055993 either doesn't attend or remains busy. On website our baggage keeps coming as "delayed". A nightmare for me and 50 other passengers like me. Avoid

Nuisance passenger in seat 36A on a flight 01:05 to Lagos on the 3 of November. Stressed me out constantly disturbing my sleep and peace. Want me to pull up my seat and not relax on a 7 hour flight, with the passenger in front of me having their seat fully reclined and in my face too. If every passenger were to pull up their on a long haul flight, how will they cope within the confine space?

Missed connection to Madrid due to Qatar Airways' own delay, and no real help

My mother and I missed our connection to Madrid in Doha because our inbound Qatar Airways flight arrived late. This was entirely the airline's fault, not ours. Their solution was to rebook us on a flight 8 hours later.

The only assistance offered was a meal voucher and a suggestion to go to a resting room inside the airport. Every resting room was full, with people sleeping on the floor. We are now stuck in the terminal in the middle of the night, facing a 7-hour wait, with no one from Qatar Airways visible or available to help us.

For an airline that markets itself as five-star, this is unacceptable. A delay caused by the airline should come with proper care: a hotel or guaranteed rest area, clear communication, and staff present to assist stranded passengers. Instead, we were handed a voucher and left to fend for ourselves.

Very disappointed. I expected far better from Qatar Airways.
