The trip is amazing in many respects, the star that is missing is due to the road system in Zimbabwe and because of that, couple of days were spent on long bumpy drives with very limited activities. B... See more

We took the "Hiking in Romania: Via Transilvanica Trail" trip with Intrepid in August 2026. The verdict: It was a fantastic experience within a group of 12, and the organization was top-notch! Our tour leader, Raluca, managed everything brilliantly and had a wealth of knowledge to share about the country and its people.

I joined a Premium tour in Borneo (August 2026); overall it was a nice tour, but I would have cut 40% of the program (days spent in cities and traveling to/from there) and replaced it with more wildlife sites, which is the reason why we go to Borneo; in particular, we hardly saw any marine wildlife - which we could have done spending a couple of days on one of the islands (Sabah) which are wonderful for that purpose. So, I felt like I wasted a lot of time; I might never go back to BORNEO in my life, and it was disappointing missing out on so much. Luckily we had a lovely group, so we had a lot of fun together, which helped closing an eye on the rest. The organization was perfect and our tour leader very professional. But Kuching and Kotakinabalu... WHY wasting 4/5 days? Out of 11 days, just one day in total in one city (to visit a local market) would have been enough.
Just adding one important point I had forgotten: during the stay at the Longhouse, 5 of us did not have a room with a bathroom en suite, and those of us who had paid for a single room risked having to share it. While these things can happen, still anyone who has paid for a single room should get it (or be refunded for that amount) and everyone should have a bathroom en suite. If there are not enough rooms with en-suite bathroom I can close an eye on that, but Intrepid should (without any need of asking from my side) show appreciation and balance that discomfort, for example by offering an optional activity. This has happened to me in the past with other tour companies, for example I was offered an elycopter flight over Victoria's Fall because in Chobe I had to share a room.

Had the best time! Everyone was so lovely and friendly, and Captain Ilias was absolutely amazing. He gave us so much information about all the places we visited. Would definitely recommend this trip! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i did a 3 weeks Australia East Coast trip and loved every second. The 2 guides, Rhi and Raq were (and still are) amazing , the different groups nice too and saw great places i only dreamed about. I also love Intrepids' "ethical" and truely engaged approach . IT was the first time for me with Intrepid but certainly not the last one!

Perfect brand to ruin your experience in a country. 👎
Intrepid has chosen to delete/flag my review. Lol I am not “frustrated” don’t victim-blame me. About one month since start date of tour and they didn’t action shit whilst they could have!
NOTE - INTREPID provides a substandard experience. Doesn’t address their consumer’s concerns in a timely and just manner.
Intrepid also condones the allowance of women’s safety, health and wellbeing being severely compromised.
Intrepid elects to defer you to a “regional” team whom has no control over the experience.
You should book your own itinerary- it’s cheaper, more convenient and enjoyable. They scam you with all these add-ons. Eg. A 75 each way TL charge for a private van to GO UP A MOUNTAIN (or be told you can walk it! wtf!!?) to see a key attraction (Pamukkale).
The listed itinerary- suggested and included isn’t discussed or viable to complete. Be prepared for EXTRA FEES and compulsion to TIP!!!! The “local” leaders are hardly experts and you’re blackmailed at every “local experience” to fund people’s sob story when they are all richer than you! SHAMEFUL.
Intrepid loves hidden fees and blackmails you to tip for this and that. All the restaurants we ate were absolute garbage and associated with the tour leader- who smoked, napped and visited family and friends and walked us around for 5 minutes then said he is hungry and wants to eat here- E.g. yucky yoghurt pasta place in Kas(h). Terrible money- hungry owner like all of them.
ZERO authentic experience or local knowledge. Tour was boring and BS; unstructured; no point of a tour guide- no “guidance,” many awkward silences. Not enough breaks from the arduous and unnecessary cheapened out bus travel.
Intrepid needs an overhaul AND AN AUDIT!
ONLY BOOK if you are desparate and have low to no expectations and standards in life. ✌️
If you speak up about mistreatment, they gossip about you on tour in a foreign language. The country I visited was full of CREEPS AND SCAMMERS. Horrible culture. Intrepid proudly took no proactive approach to mitigate this.
Your sales team also seems to operate as a some foreign call centre.
Skipped paid breakfasts, transfers where you walk in heat like an idiot or are left behind, hotels with poor plumbing or no electricity or functioning AC so u die in the summer. And ofocurse you have to fix everything cos the guide is on his personal holiday.
Intrepid should be sued for false advertising; breach of healthy and safety measures and policy; and REFUND all the aggrieved patrons below who have given 1 stars.
By comparison, G ADVENTURES (never booked) HAS A 5 star average rating on this website!

I have travelled on many Intrepid tours to various countries over the past 10years and have found the local tour leaders to be exceptional with their knowledge, care and organisation. The local mini bus drivers have made me feel quite safe as I can be a nervous road traveller. The tour to Sicily I have just returned from, took us to some amazing places. Our tour leader, Divo, took care of each one of us, organising dinner venues, special requests by some of us and making sure we were all happy travellers. I must say, we had a wonderful group of 12, varying in ages from 18 to 80. The local guides in each place, including Agrigento and Palermo, were exceptional imparting their knowledge and history of each place. A couple of the hotels, one in Catania and one in Palermo were not as good as they could have been but the other places were very good. Intrepid, because of the smaller groups and vehicles, take us to more out of the way and local places. I love the fact they are suppportive of local communities and sustainability.

Do NOT book with Intrepid Travel! I had an incredibly unfair and traumatizing experience with them this April. The tour guide was extremely hostile and unprofessional. When I reached out to their customer service, instead of helping, they sent me a warning letter filled with intimidation and threats, and even claimed they would "ban me permanently" just because I stood up for my rights. For my own safety, I had no choice but to leave the tour early. They stubbornly refused to issue a refund. Fortunately, I disputed the 6,000+ CAD transaction through my bank. After reviewing all my hard evidence (the threat messages from their staff), the Mastercard credit card organization officially ruled in my favor and forced a full chargeback in June. The bank's legal decision proved that this company breached its service agreement. Beware of their bullying behavior and toxic customer service. Save your money and stay away from this company!

I travelled with my 13-year-old daughter. We joined 2 other families and from day 1 she was great friends with the other kids and the parents connected so well. It was such an easy, relaxing, stress-free holiday. All the logistics taken care of, no research, planning or worrying required. Just swimming, snorkeling, nice hotels, great food and company. We had a fabulous time.

Intrepid took our time available and tailored a customer trip to wrap around a motorcycle trip with another provider. We had a great experience touring the sights in India’s Golden Triangle and really appreciated the familiarity of having the same guide and driver before and after our motorcycle trip.

A Great Trip with exzellent tourleaders.
Thanks very much. I just would love to stay longer at such wonderful places! One night is much too short.

Great trip - good group and the two guides were very informative, well organized and good at looking after the group, including activities that fitted the level of the group.
We saw some great places and felt that we experienced the feel of The Kimberley.
Sometimes I felt that the guides were a little too protective. We were a group with a lot of good sense and experience,
who could have been more a part of the cooking etc. However I assume that it was Company policy that we not handle fire/cooking or other potentially dangerous jobs.

Mongolia's Naadam Festival 2026 was a fantastic 15 day tour, our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and the vastness and beauty of the areas visited were stunning.
Accommodation was mainly in tourist Ger camps which were very comfortable and meals were good.
The final 2 days at the Naadam Festival were amazing especially the opening ceremony. Loved this trip.

Varied walks with the climb to the top of Ben Nevis as highlight. Qualified tourleader. Suberb guesthouse with extensive breakfast (Scottish as well as continental), small bar and wunderfull views out of the terrace. Level of walks graduated structured (starting with easy walks). Nice small international group of participants (we were only with 5, which makes everything more flexible). Highly recommended.

Travelled to The Galapagos May/June 2026 and joined a cruise on the Grand Queen Beatriz. Everything was well organised. I wouldn’t call it luxury, but it was very good. Comfortable bed and pillows, which is very important. Staff friendly and helpful. Our guide, Richard, clearly loved his job and had extensive knowledge about every bird, animal, sea creature etc. he was also encouraging to us as inexperienced and somewhat reluctant snorkellers!
There was a good range of drinks available, and there were choices of foods available. Usually fresh fruit for dessert.
Being on the cruise for 10 days was great, as we got to see 14 of the 15 major types of wildlife on the Galapagos. A shorter cruise would still be worthwhile, and many of the other guests we met were doing the cruise as part of a longer tour.
I would definitely recommend this trip and location.

The guide was excellent. the hotels were very good. the itinary covered the area well and was varied. The right amount of things covered. It was a grade 2 walking tour but one day might be called grade 3 due to the glacier retreating and changing the surface

Intrepid is a great company with great tour operators but this tour is awful and expensive. Do not take this tour.

The best parts of the Classic Scandinavia trip with Intrepid featured things I would not have known to do on my own--the wonderful overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm (midnight sun on the Baltic!) and the great country town in Sweden, Tallberg. Great hotels, great itinerary, in a wonderful part of the world.

Tour guide was not the best fit for this trip (totally unprepared and dislike hiking - we all felt in danger). The itinerary was not optimized to enjoy and explore (we had to go back to hotel early almost afternoon). I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the hotel was really good.
