Bad quality product and SLOW response…

I wrote here since it seems that Norwegian Garmin support and repair happens in Denmark, and garmin.no and garmin.com is unclaimed.

But It all started with a Garmin zumo that suddenly stopped updating maps, even I had a lifetime upgrade,
Garmin gave me a decent discount on a Garmin zumo xt, so far so good, dut this device started loosing cradle connection, stoped chargeing, didn't handle rain on the screen, basically only worked when weather was good and when it was in a good mood, got a replacement gps, but the replacement didn't start when connected to any cradle, the power supply for the motorcycle was defective (0 volt output) had big issues taking charge when connected to a USB charger, refused to change from a computer with a USB 3 port, even a powered USB hub couldn't make it work, what really pisses me off is that it takes more than 9 day to get shippement to service facility (still at sorting facility (probably everyone on holiday.
And a possible replacement/repairs unit will not arrive until my holiday have started, that means 8000 kilometer in Europe without any of my bookmark and gps tracks for my planned holiday. I even explained this to support that I had to have replacement or repaired unit before holiday started, so thanks for a real crap of a gps I now understand what not zumo xt and zumo xt2 was so short lived.

Hopefully I can get my old zumo 660 mounted and live with a OLD map since it's impossible to update, but at least the old unit still starts

Hej

Disappointing customer service for loyal customers

I’m honestly really disappointed with Garmin’s customer service.

I’ve been a loyal Garmin customer for years — I’ve bought multiple products including a watch and a cycling computer, and I’ve always trusted the brand. That’s why this experience is so frustrating.

My heart rate monitor recently stopped working, and when I contacted support, the only solution they offered was a discount on buying a new one. No replacement, no real attempt to stand behind their product — just “here’s a small discount, go buy another.”

After investing so much in their ecosystem over the years, I expected better. A faulty product should be handled with proper support, especially for returning customers, not just pushed into buying a replacement.

This has definitely changed how I view Garmin as a brand. Loyal customers should be treated better than this.

Poor after-sales support – refusal to repair or provide spare parts

I am extremely disappointed with Garmin’s customer service regarding my Garmin Flux 2 hometrainer, which is still under warranty and currently sold on the market.

After a minor self-inflicted defect during maintenance (a small internal magnet broke), I contacted Garmin to request a paid repair or to purchase the spare part. Garmin refused both options and stated that the only solution was to buy a completely new hometrainer.

This is unacceptable for several reasons:
• The product is still actively sold
• The defect is minor and localized
• Garmin confirmed they cannot repair it even at my expense
• Garmin refuses to sell or supply the spare part
• Other customers in Europe have reportedly received this exact spare part from Garmin, indicating inconsistent policy application

Refusing repair and spare parts for a current product appears to conflict with EU right-to-repair principles, which require manufacturers to offer reasonable repair solutions or spare parts for a number of years, even outside warranty and even when damage is user-caused.

This approach forces customers to scrap otherwise functional equipment and buy new units, which contradicts sustainability claims and raises serious concerns about planned obsolescence.

For a premium brand like Garmin, this level of after-sales support and customer responsibility is deeply disappointing. I expected better from a company that positions itself as high-quality and environmentally conscious.

UPDATE: following my original feedback, Garmin offered a repair and ended up replacing the unit. As a customer I appreciate that service, however it is still not environmentally conscious just to replace instead of repairing and I had to go through trustpilot to get Garmin to take action.

Garmin Instinct 3 solar 45mm

I bought this watch to replace my Polar M400. I was initially worried that it wouldn’t include a soccer training profile and that I would need to add it manually. Fortunately, it exceeded my expectations—it includes this feature and many other details I didn’t anticipate.
The connection to my phone and the smart notifications provide useful information and create an excellent overall experience. I originally purchased the watch mainly for soccer, but it has quickly become part of my daily routine and has helped make my everyday life a little healthier.

I’ve owned a Tacx Neo Bike fOutstanding customer service—Garmin has earned my trust!or a while…

I’ve owned a Tacx Neo Bike for a while and love it, but the crank had been noisy from the start. It worked fine, so I didn’t make a big deal out of it—until recently. Even though my warranty had expired, Garmin support went above and beyond. They patiently tried several fixes with me, even sent me different tools to try at home, and when that didn’t solve it, they offered to exchange the drive unit completely. The swap process was smooth and easy, and my bike is now running perfectly.

This level of support made my decision easy: I was on the fence about getting a Wahoo cycle computer, but after this experience, I’ll stick with Garmin. Great products and even better customer service. Highly recommended!

Garmin Venu 3 – One Year Later: Great for Athletes, Disappointing for Everyday Life

When I was in the market for a smartwatch, many people recommended Garmin due to their reputation in fitness and sports tracking. However, I’m not a sports fanatic, so I chose the Venu series thinking it would be more suitable for everyday use. After a year of wearing the Garmin Venu 3, I can safely say: if you're not living a life centered around fitness, you might want to look elsewhere.

In my daily life, I work night shifts – something the watch has a really hard time understanding. Sleep tracking doesn’t adapt well to irregular hours, and I’m often forced to manually enable and disable sleep mode. Even then, it doesn’t provide any useful insights or suggestions based on my real sleep patterns. It’s clearly built with a 9-to-5 schedule in mind.

As a parent, I often push a stroller – yet the watch can’t detect that I’m walking unless I’m using the arm it’s strapped to. While it does have a wheelchair mode, it doesn’t handle the stroller scenario at all. It feels like a huge oversight for anyone with small kids.

Customization options are also quite limited. The built-in watch faces are few and uninspiring. If you want more, you have to rely on the community store, but the free options are rarely better. Many paid faces require you to go through sketchy payment portals and questionable download methods – definitely not a smooth or secure experience.

I also bought one of Garmin’s kid-focused watches, hoping it would integrate well with my own. Unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. The kids’ watches use an entirely separate app, and there’s no meaningful interaction or overlap with my Garmin account. This could have been a great opportunity to create a connected family ecosystem – but it feels like a missed chance.

Sure, Garmin might be great for athletes and serious fitness users. But for anything beyond that – shift workers, parents, or casual users – look the other way.

Hi Ro,

Thanks for your feedback regarding your Venu 3.
We're sorry that you're experiencing that the watch doesn't live up to your expectations but it does have it's limitations.
It's correct that the watch by design, have difficulties registering sleep, when you don't sleep at night as well as tracking steps, when walking with a stroller. The last part is due to the watch being designed to track steps by it's accelerometer.

According to the watchfaces, you can use Connect IQ to buy third party watchfaces - these are not related to Garmin and we don't have anything to do with their payment settings.

In regards to the watch for your kid, we're
curious on what interaction you're seeking between your watches and we would therefore appreciate if you could contact our support on 7071 6401 or write to us at support@garmin.dk.

Kind Regards,

Right to Repair WHAT?!?!

Update 17 March 2025.
Since I am located in Denmark I did contact you Garmin DK.

Also tried Nordic Support and US, all I got was the offer described in my review.

And honestly, there is course for concern when one of Garmins subsidiaries, you Garmin DK, is unable to take up an issue within the company. An issue that concerns several of your products worldwide, an issue that you yourself have acknowledged via email.

As I see it, the logical step would be for you to contact Garmins Main Office, solve the issue, change your policy, make a public statement sharing the solution and then offering you customers a better way to handle the issue with battery life.

Unless of course you wish NOT to change your current practice?

My guess is probably not.

There is more money in keeping the customers in this Buy and Discard Loop, than making a sustainable product.

Guessing that’s also why you want me to contact you directly instead of posting a solution on Trustpilot or to your website, let's keep this quiet and hope it goes away??

Review:
After weeks of writing emails and arguing my case, I sadly find it necessary to write this review.

Firstly, I own a Garmin Tactix Delta Solar with Sapphire Screen, but the following also applies to other high end Garmin Watches!

If you haven’t heard of the Tactix Delta, it is probably be course it is Garmins top of the line Specialist Watch when it comes to ruggedness, functionality and PRICE.

The issue:
My watch is slowly dying due to poor battery life.

Solution:
Change the battery!?
WRONG!!

You cannot change the battery in these premium watches from Garmin, the only way to increase the lifespan of your $1000+++ device is to, drum role...buy a new watch!

Now Garmin Support will claim they have a great deal for you, offering a new watch of the same make and year as your current model at a lower price, or even sell you the newest model at a fraction of the retail price, but still at a price many times higher than simply changing the battery on your current device.

Firstly, this is just not the way to do business in 2025!
I realize a lot of customers will forfeit the Right to Repair on the promise of a new shiny device at a cheap cheap price, but I choose to see this as a marketing scheme from Garmin.
I believe Garmin is hoping customers will leave the old watch in a drawer and buy the newest model, not even realizing they can get the newer model at a discount by complaining about the battery life of the old one...maybe Garmin has been looking to the iPhone for inspiration??

But even Apple have started to get slammed with the Right to Repair Bill, so come on, get with the times Garmin!!

Your way of doing business is wasteful, environmentally unsound and just plain stupid from a consumers perspective!
And also, Garmin will start by telling you to send your watch in for repair, even though they know for a fact the issue is just an old tired battery and that they are unable to replace it. When they have the watch in house, it is much easier to convince the customer they should just pay a bit extra to have their watch replaced instead of having it repaired.
All new and shiny, aren’t we just a nice bunch of manipulative service minded friendly neighborhood watch makers?

I bought the Tactix Delta be course I needed a watch that would take the beating associated with working as a fist responder handling chainsaws, heavy loads, extreme weather and also going for a run every now and then.

The sales rep from Garmin didn’t have a doubt, I needed the Tactix Delta!
Now this Mill Spec (water resistance, durability and so on) super duper watch is getting defeated by a battery that has lost its will to live, like all rechargeable batteries do after a few years.

Garmin have told me it is impossible to make a watch with a replaceable battery that will also keep its Mill Spec after replacement.
I am very thankful Garmin have not communicated this to my old Luminox watch or my Dive Computer! They both seem to be keeping their rating just fine even after having changed the battery several times over the years.
I have heard they use the magic of Pressure Testing to ensure their devices are up to spec after battery replacement, just like Casio did with the G-SHOCK DW-5000C in 1983 nineteen-eighty-three (pardon the slight sarcasm).

Now, I have suggested several solutions to my issue.
And, believe it or not, I actually really like my watch so I even submitted a suggestion regarding device design going forward.
Sadly all I am getting back is excuses and the silent treatment.

So if you enjoy spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars or euros for that matter, on a very expensive watch that will do all it can to waste resources, take a ridicules approach to repairability and well, tell the time, go ahead and buy a Garmin watch.

If not, maybe try one of the old Casio watches, I hear good things...

Premium Price, Poor Product

My experience is with Garmin Ireland, not Denmark, but garmin.com is unclaimed on this site. Which I can understand given how poor the reviews are! Purchased a premiumly priced watch Forerunner 945 which stopped working after 3 months. The returns process is extremely tedious and I am going to be without a watch now for around a month. I find this incredibly unfair. I spent a lot of money on this product and for something to happen that is not my fault to be left without the replacement for so long is absolutely terrible service. I am disgusted. This is my first Garmin product and will also be my last.

Great products but terrible software experience

As much as I love the intentions, hardware quality and design of most Garmin products, as much do they cause frustration almost every time I purchase a new product, try to upgrade the software or use new functions.

Having to juggle with several apps (Connect, ConnectIQ, Messenger, Explore, ActiveCaptain etc.), passwords and websites (Garmin Express, Garmin Messenger and probably more) in order to activate, update and use the products hampers the experience to a level of frustration - It's difficult not to compare with the experience of buing a new Apple product and let your AppleID and an intuitive guidance (mostly...) do its magic!

I've bought several Garmin products that I never managed to use to their full potential because of a combination of software problems, terrible interfaces and confusing guidance. Example: I used to have a Garmin dash cam in my car. I never found an easy way to extract video footage, and the one time I really needed it after an accident, I had to go through support to come up with something, I could send to the insurance company.
I've also bought Garmin maps that I after several high bloodpressure inducing attempts never managed to download to my Garmin device.

Recently I spent half a weekend setting up my new GPSMAP 67i and while I eventually made my way through the jungle of setting up an InReach account, I still didn't make it connect to Garmin Connect which is quite important to me as I want to be able to import routes from a third party provider.

During the process of updating, connecting or downloading I often experience to get an error message but rarely guidance about how to move on; it simply stops at something along the lines of "An unexpected error occured". When I consult garmin.com for guidance, the advice or suggested actions often tend to get to technical for my liking - I'm a hiker, not an engineer...

It's my overall impression that Garmin didn't manage to create a software environment that properly supports their products and the users possability to make the most of them.
