I had my profile verification interview with Freelancer a few days ago and the experience was very positive. I was pleasantly surprised that the interviewer took the time to ask me very specific questions about the job position I had held in my previous employment.
This level of detail shows that they take the verification process seriously and value the authenticity of profiles on their platform. The interview was professional and made me feel that my work experience was truly valued.

Barry was a great assistant, very attentive to the questions and patient with my answers.

So far, I have nothing but good to say about Freelancer. I am still quite new on the platform but I have seen really good and interesting job opportunities to apply for. The procedures on Freelancer are clear. Also I have decided to get verified to be able to apply to openings which are better paid, and the verification process was smoother compared to other platforms. Abbiamo ricevuto una comunicazione da parte della piattaforma in cui ci veniva contestata una presunta violazione delle regole, con la sospensione dell’account e l’addebito di un importo, senza alcuna prova concreta e senza che fosse mai avvenuta alcuna comunicazione o transazione al di fuori della piattaforma.

Abbiamo chiesto chiarimenti, evidenze e la base legale su cui si fonda tale addebito, ma non abbiamo mai ricevuto alcuna risposta puntuale. Nel frattempo, l’account è rimasto bloccato, impedendoci di completare diversi progetti attivi con professionisti con cui stavamo collaborando regolarmente. Non avendo i loro contatti diretti, ci troviamo completamente impossibilitati a proseguire i lavori.

A peggiorare la situazione, la piattaforma ha prelevato somme dalla nostra carta di credito senza alcuna autorizzazione, comportamento che riteniamo gravissimo e inaccettabile.

A questo punto abbiamo incaricato uno studio legale di intervenire, poiché la situazione è diventata insostenibile: ci sono collaborazioni in corso, fondi trattenuti senza motivo e nessun canale effettivo per risolvere il problema.

Troviamo tutto ciò ingiustificato, scorretto e dannoso, sia per noi che per i freelancer coinvolti, e una gestione del genere mina la fiducia verso l’intera piattaforma.

I would like to share my experience with Freelancer for the sake of full transparency towards other users.

We received a communication from the platform accusing us of an alleged violation of the rules, resulting in the suspension of our account and an unjustified charge, without any concrete evidence and without having ever conducted any communication or transaction outside the platform.

We have repeatedly requested clarification, documentation, and the legal basis for such a charge, but no clear or detailed response has ever been provided. Meanwhile, our account remains blocked, preventing us from completing several active collaborations with professionals we were working with correctly through the platform. Since we do not have their direct contact information, we are completely unable to continue the projects.

To make matters worse, the platform has withdrawn funds from our credit card without any authorization, which we consider extremely serious and unacceptable.

At this stage, we have engaged a law firm to intervene, as the situation has become untenable: active collaborations are blocked, funds have been retained without justification, and there is no effective way to communicate or resolve the issue.

We consider this conduct unjustified, unfair, and damaging, both for us and for the freelancers involved. Such management severely undermines trust in the entire platform.

This was handled extremely well and very professional, she was extremely patient and polite despite me being nervous and having audio issues. She was very accommodating.

I liked it that there was a response quickly, though my issue hasn't been completely resolved, but it's been investigated. Furthermore, I'll advice seriously that you should reconsider your chargeback options for clients, as with it, clients usually find a way to cheat freelancers and even get task completed for them for free. Also, chargebacks shouldn't be approved without prior confirmation from the freelancer as well, since he's another party involved in the project or the trust freelancers have in the site will be ruined.

Jonny was polite, professional, and made the conversation very comfortable. He explained the Preferred Freelancer Program clearly and listened carefully to my answers. The interview felt natural and friendly, not stressful at all. All the information about the program was clear and easy to understand. Everything went smoothly, and I have no suggestions for improvement. I really appreciate Jonny’s friendly attitude and professionalism — the interview gave me a very positive impression of the program.
