RentalPlus took an 800 euro deposit
RentalPlus took an 800 euro deposit. Upon my return, they wanted to charge me 420 euros for a small scratch. Later, I learned that someone actually changed the photo that I took w the rental car attendant. Now, comes the worst part. I will not admit to the falsified photo, but RentalPlus will not even return the excess $380 euros unless I agree with their falsified photo. Falsification and extorsion. I am still argung with them. They only respond (email) with terse unhelpful comments.
the worst experience in rental cars
The worst car rental experience I have ever had
By far, this has been the worst experience I have ever had when renting a car.
I arrived at the RentalPlus desk after landing, and there was absolutely nobody there. I went to look for the staff in the car park, and I was told to wait because they would come later. After quite some time, someone finally arrived and told me that, because I had arrived late, my vehicle had been cancelled.
I want to make it absolutely clear that the car was not simply reserved: it had been fully paid for four months in advance. Despite this, I was told that the only option available was to rent another vehicle at twice the original price.
I refused and requested a refund of the amount I had already paid. They also refused to refund my money and simply referred me to an email address to submit a complaint.
In my opinion, this has been a completely unacceptable experience, and I feel that I have been treated very unfairly. For this reason, I intend to report the matter to the relevant authorities in order to protect my rights as a consumer.
And please, RentalPlus, do not respond to this review by telling me to contact you. I have already contacted you and provided evidence, including photographic evidence showing that I was there within the stated arrival time, yet I have received no response.
Extremely poor experience – be very careful
I rented a car from RentalPlus at Rome Fiumicino for 9 days. Unfortunately, the entire experience left me with the impression that the operation is designed to extract additional charges wherever possible.
It started at the airport. The information about where to find the shuttle is extremely poor. There is no clear meeting point or timetable, and the shuttle only seems to come every 15–20 minutes. I initially waited in the wrong place and even called them for help. By the time I finally reached the rental office, I was more than 60 minutes past the scheduled pickup time. Instead of helping, I was told that because I was late I had to take an upgrade and pay extra.
At the counter I then had trouble remembering the PIN for my credit card. When I suggested simply using another card, the employee immediately told me that in that case she would have to sell me their full insurance coverage. I eventually got the original card to work, so no additional insurance was purchased, but the interaction certainly didn't improve my impression of their sales practices.
The car itself was a Nissan Qashqai with an extraordinary amount of existing damage. RentalPlus's own checkout report lists 28 pre-existing damage items, including scratches on doors, bumpers, fenders, wheels and even “small scratches under the door.”
After returning the car, they claimed to have found another “small” scratch on the right-side door-sill/undercarriage area. They asked whether I had specifically photographed that area when collecting the car. Naturally, I had photographed the vehicle, but not every concealed door-sill/undercarriage surface.
They then charged my credit card €363.50: €302.50 for the alleged damage plus a €50 administration fee and VAT. I am formally disputing this charge and have asked them to provide pre-rental photographs showing that this exact area was undamaged when the car was handed to me, as well as evidence substantiating the €302.50 valuation.
One particularly important detail: on their return document, I accepted the check-in, but I did not accept the reported damage. Those are separate fields on their own form.
Overall: unclear shuttle instructions, unfriendly and unhelpful service, pressure to spend more money at pickup, a heavily scratched vehicle, and then a substantial charge for another small scratch in an area most customers would never think to photograph.
Based on my experience, I would not rent from RentalPlus again and would strongly recommend that anyone who does takes extremely detailed photos and videos of absolutely every part of the vehicle—including door sills, underneath the doors and other less obvious areas—before leaving the rental location.

I dont know what are there a lot of negative review. I rented a car from here and everything was well with the car it was clean and normal price. The man who helped for us was kind. Thanks.

Amazing
The company saved me after another didn’t accept my card because it didn’t contain my middle name. Everything went super fast, I got a better car then I booked thru 3rd party. Super friendly staff members. Also while giving back the car it was 3min of check, no problems with anything. Definitely recommend!
Horrible customer service
The worst rental car experience I’ve had. Their location we rented from closed down and only have the city location in Florence. No notification and we had to take another cab there from the other location. When we got there the computer systems were down and had to wait another hour…
Also, the car was not clean, it had a ton of damage and was a manual engine (my reservation was for an automatic). They said you take this, because we don’t have another car this size. I recommend not renting from here. If you paid for your vehicle in advance, they will not help you.
Do not trust these scammers
Booked a car (all-inclusive damage etc) from the Catania (Sicily) office on 18/07/26 through Sunny Cars (Sunny Cars is a trusted agency that works with third parties). Upon arrival they told me I had to buy an extra insurance for road assistance, even though my Sunny Cars voucher said it was included. I luckily did not get the additional insurance.
Our clutch ended up malfunctioning out of the blue. We had to call a pickup company ourselves in the 40degree burning sun and we had to pay for a 80 euro taxi back to the airport. Upon arriving back at the airport, they made us pay 360 euros (!!) for the road pickup, the petrol we used thus far and service costs for refilling the tank. We could do nothing but pay, or we would not get a new car.
Two days after we paid and got a new car, we got multiple text messages saying that we had to bring back our car, or we would have to pay for an extra rental day. We called Sunny Cars emergency help, and luckily they helped us deal with these scammers.
All in all, the customer experience was horrible, and they attempted scamming us multiple times.
DO NOT TRUST RENTAL PLUS!
Unacceptable service and failure to reimburse essential vehicle maintenance – Contract RA 8694
I submitted a formal complaint regarding contract RA 8694 (Bari Airport) after receiving an empty AdBlue error on the dashboard during my rental. AdBlue is a critical operational fluid (like engine oil or brake fluid), and handing over a vehicle without checking its level represents a clear lack of basic vehicle maintenance.
When the warning appeared, I repeatedly called RentalPlus emergency lines, but received no response at all. To prevent the engine from shutting down and leaving my family stranded, I was forced to buy a 10L AdBlue bottle (€18.00) out of pocket.
Despite providing the purchase receipt and proof of unanswered emergency calls, RentalPlus customer support has officially refused to reimburse this €18.00, dismissing AdBlue as a standard "consumable" rather than a maintenance oversight.
Delivering a vehicle with low essential fluids and ignoring emergency assistance is completely unacceptable.
Do not rent from them ever.
We had a very poor experience with RentalPlus. Our flight was delayed, so we arrived at the airport 30 minutes later than scheduled. We immediately called RentalPlus for their shuttle service, but we had to wait 30 minutes for pickup, and the agent on the phone was unhelpful, rather rude too.
Their policy states that reservations may be released if a customer is over 1 hour late. Because of the 30-minute wait for their own shuttle, we exceeded that 1-hour window. Upon arrival at the counter, we were informed our reserved vehicle was no longer available and that we would need to pay approximately €300 in additional fees to secure a car.
Due to the unhelpful service, the rigid application of the policy despite the shuttle wait, and the high additional fee, we chose to cancel our business with them on the spot. I strongly advise future travelers to stay away from this company.
I am reporting this business to Consumer Protection for review.
COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT USE
COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT USE. I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They stole $2k from me for being 30 minutes late to my reservation. Said, "nothing we can do sorry." DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Please avoid this company at ALL costs…
Please avoid this company at ALL costs they are scammers. They insist in charging unwarranted extras. They also have terrible reviews. Please make sure to read the reviews and make sure you are well aware of all their misleading, scamming tactics before you buy.
We arrived with a fully paid booking voucher and a valid card that strictly met every requirement explicitly listed in their official Terms and Conditions. However, the desk agent refused to release our vehicle unless we paid an additional €468 for their in-house "insurance."
This company says it is in brindisi…
This company says it is in brindisi airport. It is not. We had to wait 1 hour for the co. To answer the phone. We called at least 14 times. Whe we arrived at the facility the man was rude. There was no apology
Further we had specifically booked rental plus because we wanted to return at Bari airport. I paid a premium to do this When I got to the office I was charged a further euros 97. There is very little one can do at this point and we felt we had to pay. They then tried to charge euros to clean the car at the end of the rental saying this was normal. Bari airport is a nightmare there are no signs to guide you to rental plus. Give yourself plenty of time of time But don’t use rental plus There are plenty of of other operators And look at the small print
SCAMMERS
One of the worst car rental experiences I’ve ever had.
Despite already selecting and paying for the young driver fee during my online reservation, I was charged for it again at the counter. When I explained this, the response was: “Then complain to them, not to us. We just give you the keys!” No effort to help, just another charge.
At drop-off, the employee Matteo was extremely rude and even shouted at us. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
They also failed to provide the invoice and rental documents, forcing me to send multiple emails the next day just to receive paperwork that should have been provided automatically.
Finally, although the car already had several scratches and dents when we picked it up, they spent an unreasonable amount of time looking for the tiniest mark at drop-off, seemingly trying to find any excuse to charge us extra.
Overall, the whole experience felt dishonest, with hidden charges, poor customer service, and practices that seemed designed to get more money from customers. I would never rent from this company again and strongly recommend choosing a different rental company at Milan Malpensa.
AVOID THIS COMPANY
The cars themselves were absolutely fine and we had no issues with the vehicle, but unfortunately the customer service completely ruined the experience.
One of the female members of staff in particular was incredibly rude, impatient, and unprofessional from the moment we arrived. While we were speaking, she kept laughing and making comments to one of her colleagues in Italian, which felt extremely disrespectful and made us feel like we were being mocked.
The biggest issue was over our credit card. She refused to accept it because it showed my initials and surname rather than my full first name, insisting that “it could belong to anyone.” Instead of trying to help or explain the situation calmly, she created a huge amount of unnecessary stress and caused a scene in front of other customers. No alternatives or assistance were offered.
Eventually, she contacted her manager, who confirmed that the credit card was perfectly acceptable and could be used without any issues. Despite being proven wrong, she carried on as if nothing had happened and didn’t offer even a simple apology for the inconvenience or the way she had treated us.
After a long journey, this was the last thing we needed. What should have been a quick and easy car collection turned into an unnecessarily stressful experience because of one staff member’s attitude. If it weren’t for her, I would have had no complaints, as the car itself was perfectly good. The company really needs to improve its customer service, as one rude employee can completely overshadow an otherwise positive experience.
Also shouldn’t it be the company job to make sure the car is 100% spotless for the next customer to use? Why do they expect customers to find somewhere that cleans cars in a foreign place we have never been to!
Lastly be swear they will try add on so much money before and after getting the car. They insisted we got insurance with them even though we already paid for our own. They added £100 for unknown reasons and said we couldn’t have the car if we didn’t pay it.
Overall AVOID THIS COMPANY

We recommend booking a car with Rental Plus Palermo Airport. We had a nice and new Fiat 600 and everything was perfect 👌
SCAM PROCESSES AND NON SERVICE MINDED PERSONELL
SCAM
When arriving to the rental office I only had a virtual credit card. My wife had a physical creitcard and they wanted +€933 on a €1.000 booking motivated with ”you have to have our own additional insurance if changing driver” even tough I already had full coverage through DiscoveryCars who I made the booking through. It would have been understandable to pay additional for second driver but not almost as much as the full booking.
Discovery helped me to change to another rental firm at no additional cost.
Clearly a scam schedule.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH RENTAL PLUS AND FLEXY RENTAL
Rental Plus now have a new "low-cost" brand called Flexy Rental. My issues were as follows:
1. I was told at the checkout (in Cagliari) that a Euro12 fee was payable for car cleaning. This should have been flagged at the time of booking.
2. Be very careful: the older male employee at Olbia spent almost 10 minutes checking every part of the car and was VERY ANNOYED AND DISAPPOINTED when he was not able to find any damage to the car.
3. I understand that staff at RentalPlus are incentivised to find small areas of scratches and damage and to then charge extortionate amounts.
4. Unlike most other companies who only block a deposit, Rental Plus actually take Euros 700 from the credit card.
5. I am still waiting (3 days later) for my deposit to be returned.
6. On the positive side, the car was nearly new and clean however there was a warning light showing re the tyres.
Overall, I will not book with this company again.
Cheap until you return
Cheap until you return, then charged 330 euro for an existing mark on the bumper. Car not full on pickup, refused to acknowledge. Lied about level of cleanliness required to sell a cleaning package that was unnecessary. Avoid.
RentalPlus claimed damage to car … False!
We picked up our car from RentalPlus at the Bari airport the evening of May 13 2026. The woman at the counter was pleasant and knowledgeable, and the location is so convenient, directly across from the terminal exit doors. Finding the car was an incredible challenge in a very crowded parking lot with multiple car rental agencies, but we picked up the car in a rain storm, in the dark, and drove to our hotel. We happily used the car for 10 days and returned it early morning May 24 in the same bonkers parking lot. Thank heaven my husband had the presence of mind to take photos of the car before we caught a flight to Rome. I was informed later that day that our deposit was being retained because of damage to the car. After three weeks of going around in circles with RentalPlus on WhatsApp, I finally contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute. Thanks to the photos, and my correspondence asking multiple times for proof of any damage, Chase reversed the deposit, and closed the dispute in my favour.
Everything up to that point was great! I was the first driver on a new car, we were upgraded at no extra charge, but things went downhill at the end. I’m so disappointed in this company and don’t see what the gain is for them.
