Cracks in new resin bound surface
In April 2026, I gave a contract to install a new resinbound surface to Tony O’Donell of Broadwalk Paving Ltd, West Drayton (previously known as Hamilton Driveways, Ruislip) at a cost of approx £36,000.
Tony subcontracted the job to SuDS UK (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems Ltd, Hertfordshire, SG6 1NR), who installed the surface using materials from Daltex (also known as Derbyshire Specialist Aggregates / resinbondedaggregates.com).
Two months after the installation, the surface lifted with a crack in one place, which was notified to the contractor promptly. Then, new cracks started appearing periodically. At the moment, there are eight cracks and the whole area appears to be crumbling.
The three companies involved in the job (Broadwalk Paving Ltd, SuDS UK and Daltex) have been blaming each other for the problem.
In July 2026, Tony and SuDS gave me a date of 26 Aug 2026 to carry out repairs. No one turned up with no notification, and there is no response to my follow ups.
Anyone considering installing a resin bound surface should be careful, as any subsequent repairs are extremely difficult and expensive, particularly in comparison to other surfaces. I would never do it again.
