Unfortunately

Unfortunately, my experience with Drive Vauxhall Bristol East has been extremely disappointing.

I purchased a Vauxhall Combo Life on 8 June 2026, paying a £3,200 deposit, only to discover numerous issues shortly after taking delivery. These included a missing passenger seat adjustment lever, a faulty rear charging port, ripped rear seats, scratched headlights (one cloudy), a scratched reverse camera, a parcel shelf that wouldn’t retract, a discoloured steering wheel and intermittent engine management concerns.

I reported the issues immediately and requested to reject the vehicle within the first 30 days under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. My request was refused.

The vehicle was booked into my local dealership for repairs, where I used my last day of annual leave. After being without my car all day, no repairs were completed because parts had to be ordered.

As I urgently needed a reliable vehicle for my family, I agreed to change into a Peugeot 5008. However, this left me in a much worse financial position. I ended up with approximately £2,000 of negative equity added to my new finance agreement, paid a second deposit, incurred around £800 in travel and hotel expenses, and my monthly finance payments increased significantly.

I appreciate that the dealership arranged a replacement vehicle, but I do not feel the overall financial impact on me was dealt with fairly.

Because we were unable to reach a resolution, I have referred my complaint to The Motor Ombudsman, which has confirmed that my complaint is eligible for investigation.

Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.

Poor customer service

I had the the most unfortunate experience of being in in a RTA. My insurance company is Aviva and I paid for the best insurance. After contacting Aviva I selected Drive Vauxhall Leicester to do the repairs, believing a big company would carry out the work to a good standard. HOW WRONG I WAS. My car was deemed un road worthy by Aviva due to a fault with the bonnet. DRIVE decided after a few photos I was to drive it to there location without any Insurance. They informed me to drive a un insured vehicle on the highway. Disgusting. A week later I am still no further on. the car is outside my home.

Parking lets an otherwise good dealership down

This review relates to Vauxhall Bristol North.

The service itself was good. The staff were friendly and professional, and the work carried out on my car was completed to a good standard.

However, the parking situation is by far the worst I've experienced at any dealership. There is no customer parking available when dropping off your car, so simply arriving for a service becomes stressful. I wasn't using a courtesy car, so my partner drove separately, and we both struggled to find anywhere safe and legal to park. It's difficult to understand how a dealership can operate without adequate parking for customers.

The quality of the work deserves credit, but the parking situation seriously lets the whole experience down. Unless this improves, I'll most likely have my car serviced elsewhere in future.

Picked up my new car today

Picked up my new car today, Scarlett was amazing and helped me to understand everything about my new vehicle. From the purchase to driving away from the forecourt.

Thank you

Very disappointing experience from…

Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
We travelled 58 miles to view and purchase a vehicle after being assured it would undergo a full 120-point inspection and that several issues we identified would be rectified. We then had to make another 58-mile trip to collect it, only to find the car wasn't ready, required further work, and some agreed repairs had either not been completed or were left in a poor state.
On the journey home, the car developed a knocking noise. After reporting this, we were initially offered an appointment weeks later, despite the potential safety concerns and the fact we were still within the 14-day cooling-off period. After pushing the issue, the car was booked in, requiring yet another 58-mile journey, and we were provided with an unsuitable courtesy car for our family of five.
Communication throughout was poor, and we constantly had to chase for updates. Due to the number of faults and the way everything was handled, we decided to exercise our legal right to return the vehicle within the cooling-off period. The manager incorrectly told us we had lost this right because repairs had been carried out, was rude throughout, and even hung up during the conversation. It took multiple emails and phone calls, another 58-mile trip to return the car, and almost two weeks before our deposit was finally refunded.
Overall, the condition of the vehicle, the lack of communication, and the attitude of management were completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this dealership based on our experience.

Overall disappointed

Overall disappointed. From ordering the car I was told 2/3 weeks for delivery. It was nearer 2 months. When collecting there is a hard sell to buy gap insurance, which if you want it is much cheaper shopping around. Couple of days after having the car I noticed a grab handle is missing, obviously just an oversight somewhere.Reported 3 days ago and not heard back. Service plan is ridiculously over priced. No particular problem with the sales representative although during the process I was not offered the advertised dealer contribution,Had to ask myself!! When chasing up delivery of car left 4 messages before anyone had the courtesy to call back. Happy with the car, but would expect better customer service.

Serviced and mot'd my car 22/6/26.
Had it for 8 hours and put a tyre on it to pass the mot. On my way home the car dash pinged telling me that my tyre pressure was not innicilised.
These technicians are meant to be professionals, and they can't do basic stuff.

Avoid at All Costs

Avoid at All Costs – 6 Months of Stress and Frustration

My experience with Drive MG Leicester was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

When I first visited the dealership, I dealt with Adam Smith, who I found to be very pushy. Additional packages were added to the vehicle without clear explanations, leaving me feeling pressured and uncertain about what I was agreeing to.

The problems continued on the day I collected the car. Despite the dealership knowing exactly what time I would be arriving, I was left waiting for hours before I could take delivery of my new vehicle.

Unfortunately, the vehicle itself developed problems almost immediately and broke down within 25 days of ownership. I returned the car to the dealership expecting support, but the customer service I received from both Adam Smith and Thomas Abbott was appalling. I was told that “cars break all the time” and that they would not prioritise repairs or provide a courtesy car. Adam also insisted that he had not sold me a faulty vehicle and implied the issues were somehow my fault. Once again, I was left waiting at the dealership for hours while they supposedly investigated the problem.

Given the faults with the vehicle and the poor treatment I had received, I decided I no longer wanted the car and exercised my right to reject it. I was advised to pursue the matter through my finance company and left the vehicle at the dealership.

What followed was over six months of stress, frustration, and being without a car. The dealership refused to refund my money and, even more concerning, produced a “job card” claiming I had authorised repairs. I was never informed that repairs would be carried out, never agreed to any repairs, and the signature on the document was not mine.

The matter eventually escalated to the Ombudsman, who criticised the dealership’s customer service, communication, handling of a faulty vehicle, and, most importantly, the production of the fraudulent job card.

This entire experience caused significant inconvenience, stress, and unnecessary hardship. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from Drive MG Leicester to NOT proceed with getting a vehicle from them.

I would give 0 if possible

I would give 0 if possible. Paid in full for a car on the date it was supposed to be delivered it but never arrived. After several phone calls I was told the car was being used as a curtesy car.
It then took 2 weeks to get my money back
Terrible customer service you won’t have phone calls or emails returned
Even their on line complaints contact ignores you

Great experience at Redcar Drive

Went to Vauhall Drive, Redcar, and was looked after by Chris Lamplugh; he was very pleasant and helpful to deal with. Any questions I had were answered. He is very knowledgeable about warranties and insurance and was able to give me lots of information without making me feel I had to purchase anything. I didn't feel rushed or pressured into any decisions. I bought a car, and when I collected it, the couple of marks I had pointed out were gone and the car was perfect. He called the day after to check everything was ok and provided all the paperwork for me. I have been very happy with the service received, and I would recommend Drice Redcar. Thank you.
