This is the worst rip off company around. They charge heaps with there Dominator Website then do nothing at all. After 10 years I asked to have my returns policy put on my website and they charged me $150 for 2 minutes work even though their service offers Monthly website support, Bollocks. Never use this company. That is only the start of all the problems they have caused me.

I’ve always tried to use genius. want to know the meaning behind that lyric you just can’t figure out? want to add your own song? want to have a great time adding information and making sense of songs? well welcome to genius!

i once tried to add a meaning to lyrics, but the narrow minded top contributors bully you for getting even the slightest thing “wrong”. people spam hate comments and the so called moderators don’t moderate. i tried to add a song, wrote down every lyric and annotated them, but the artist for the song wasn’t on there. so, i set it as unknown artist and was going to add the artist afterwards. as i tried to do that, my account got suspended. i tried to see what happened, and they said to read the community guidelines and it would be un suspended. i did so. nothing. i then contacted a moderator like it said, not taking the time to realise THEY DO NOT CARE. i contacted support by email but had only one automated response giving me reasons why i might be suspended. there is no human interaction whatsoever. this site could be so good, but it sucks so bad. i beg they make this site work eventually, but i guess my prayers fall on deaf ears…

The website is terrible. You would think a company that routinely collaborates with big name artists would be able to run a website but apparently not. It refreshes every 5 seconds, ads cover a large portion of the screen, when I click on an annotation the page jumps to another section of the lyrics. I hoped it would run better with an ad blocker but no it didn’t help at all. Moderation is a whole other problem. For a site that’s main feature is providing community annotations for lyrics, it feels impossible to actually be able to do that.

Genius is the go-to place for reliable information about almost any track. You’ll find lyrics, annotations, background context, and references there. There’s nothing comparable at this scale.

Artists and fans contribute annotations that add a unique layer of insight. For anyone who appreciates music beyond just listening, Genius is an obvious first stop.

I’m not sure what the complaints are about. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

I am the legal guardian and authorized representative of the artist HaVexy. Recently, an individual uploaded the entire “Ear Blessers” album to Genius without authorization, falsely claiming it as their own work.

Genius did not verify the identity or rights of this user before publishing the album, which resulted in our original recordings being distributed without consent. This oversight allowed a third party to misrepresent copyrighted material and mislead listeners.

I hope Genius strengthens its verification and content review process to prevent unauthorized uploads in the future.

Everything sucks. They keep suspending my accounts for no reason, I don't know why. I hate them, one star, there are so many Reddit reviews on how bad it is, I recommend checking it out.
Don't become a member, they are so greedy.

The quality of the lyrics went downhill while useless features were being implemented. Good in the rap genius days, but now as much as a trashcan as Musixmatch...

Genius could not exist without volunteers - it is a free service where anyone can check and clarify the meaning of lyrics behind any song, as well as non-musical media. It seems most people writing here do not realise there are moderators and mediators they can reach out to to settle conflicts. Discrimination, rude behaviour, and opinionation are not allowed on the site. As long as an annotation is supported with references, it remains. If you see incorrect metadata, you can update it. If you're a song author, you get 100% control over all your records, and nobody can override you. Please read the instructions on how to use the site, and you'll have a much better time. Peace.

Loads of the lyrics are wrong and when I let them know about this a year back I was totally ignored

I regret signing up for Genius. It was advertised as a great Instagram prospecting tool, but it’s been nothing but frustrating. The biggest issue I had was with the messaging automation. The system sends out messages that feel overly generic and, honestly, kind of spammy. I tried using it to connect with potential clients, but all I got were unfollows and negative comments.

Another huge letdown was the lack of customization. You can't really tailor your messages in a way that feels personal, and there’s no way to effectively manage your outreach strategy. I also had technical issues where the tool wouldn’t sync properly with my Instagram account, which made everything more complicated.

On top of all that, their customer service was practically nonexistent. I submitted multiple support tickets and never received any meaningful assistance. Overall, I would not recommend Genius to anyone looking to grow their Instagram following or prospecting efforts. Very disappointed.

Not GDPR compliant. Forces unnecessary cookies while in Europe, no ability to turn them off, no option to decline. Only option is accept or to try and turn them off individually only to find that many advertising categories are set to always active and you cannot turn them off.

The lady from customer care I spoke to today was very helpful and so polite.

This service has taken my company's name without permission and created an account, or someone has. No one answers or takes this account down so guess I need to take legal actions next. The name is protected and there's no way there's anyone else in this world with the same name. What kind of service is this?

I suggested an improvement to a song.
They archived (deleted in fact) my improvement because they did not agree.
They blocked my account from adding any other suggestion.
They REFUSE to delete my account even though I emailed them about it several times. I never received any reply explaining why they don't delete my account.

The songs' explaination is entirely dependent on the consensus of the users, which tend to favour ideas that look cooler rather than those that make sense. Because of this the website is unreliable.

Interpretations of lyrics are removed, instead of it being an open forum. Songs that could have a trifecta of interpretations are limited to the thoughts of their narrow brained moderators or top contributors. It should be an open discussion instead of a popular pick, or bureaucratic vote. Don't waste your time with this site. I won't again.

The Moderators don't moderate.
The site lacks many many features and is strictly limited when uploading stuff.
It's packed with a bunch of Ads and Cookies, that slow down the website and makes it unusable without an Adblocker.

Keep it simple stupid.
This site is useless. Tried to upload my album before it gets released. Can't upload album art unless you have a url. You can't simply upload it from your computer, or anywhere else. Ancient way of thinking and a terrible site layout. Wasted 1 hour before I tried to erase my account. Only problem is, you have to request them to erase it for you. Allmusic.com via Tivo is way better. I'm finished uploading all my liner notes, including album art. Don't waste your precious time on this site. Especially If you're an independent artist or label.
