Review of CARFAX

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Carfax is meaningless

We bought a car from a high end car dealer in the Chicago area. The Carfax showed the car had been in a minor accident with cosmetic damage. After purchasing the car, it malfunctioned on the drive home. Turns out the car had been in a serious accident and parts of the car had little just been glued back together with caulk. Contacted the dealer and they wouldn’t honor a repair, but that’s another review. Reached out to Carfax to ask about the discrepancy, and they simply said they can’t verify their reports. Basically, their reports are meaningless. Yes, it will contain information if owners/shop have been honest. But it’s the scams that you need to know about, and Carfax is meaningless for this.

Review of Choice Home Warranty

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Generally a good experience except the time for reimbursement

Overall, a little above average service, but much, much, much better than American Home Shield (a truly dishonest company). At first, the process was quick and professional, and in the end, we received a credit voucher for our washing machine when it couldn't be repaired. However, once the voucher was offered, they didn't provide the electronic credit for around four weeks. I almost rated them 3 stars since I think withholding the payment for that long is egregious.

Review of Choice Home Warranty

Better than AHS but absurd payout time

I had a home warranty through American Hone Shield for years before a nightmare experience (my home AC unit went out and had to be replaced. The cash offer was a whopping $150. Incredulous!) I switched to Choice and at first I left a 5 star review because the company was prompt and reasonable in response to my broken washing machine. It too couldn’t be repaired since a part was not available. The replacement offered is reasonable but then I learned it takes 3 months to a month to receive the electronic gift card. That is absurd in our digital world. Potentially not being able to replace a broken appliance for a month is not acceptable. I almost rated them 3 stars but I’m still hopeful this will be a good company.

Review of StubHub U.S. and Canada

Quick and fairly simple

It was quick and reasonably priced. Found a seat, purchased through Apple Pay and ticket link was quickly sent by email. The fee seemed pretty small.

Review of American Home Shield

Dishonest and poor customer service from international call centers who don’t understand repairs

Unfortunately like many insurance companies, they deny coverage and the service representatives constantly give conflicting information. I have called almost daily for two weeks and have had only one good customer service representative. Almost all sound like international agents who don’t understand repairs and constantly give false information.
Even worse, the company is dishonest. They don’t follow their policies from the website and then try to upsell repairs without being transparent on the coverage. Do not trust this company.
