Description
A DROP LABEL FOR USE ON TEXTILE PRODUCTS
Technical Field:
The invention relates to a drop label for flexible, robust and aesthetic application of various figures, images, text, logos and emblems to textile products.
State of the Art:
Labels are applied on the products they are used on and fulfill tasks such as improving their aesthetic properties and promoting the brand. The type of label with the most aesthetically elegant and prestigious appearance is the drop labels with a curved shape on the outer surface. In the automotive industry, these labels are usually found on the front and rear logos of the vehicle or on the steering wheel hub. Drop labels are also used on white goods, electronic devices, textile products and promotional products. The present invention relates to the drop labels mentioned herein.
Drop labels are not used on textiles in the state of the art. The reason for this is that application difficulties are encountered in textile products. Drop labels cannot be applied to the fabric of textile products, and even if applied, sufficient strength and flexibility cannot be provided. In the invention, this situation has been overcome by using a specific material.
One of the main reasons why drop labels cannot be used on textile products is that textile products are exposed to temperature, water and pressure during washing, ironing and similar processes. In such cases, the label is expected to be resistant. Since the material of the drop labels used in the known state of the art is not resistant to these processes, they cannot adhere to textile surfaces.
In the known state of the art, drop labels contain mercury to form a thick consistency. Mercury can cause serious harm when it comes into contact with human skin.
As a result, there is a need for a new drop label that overcomes the known state of the art and eliminates its disadvantages.
Brief Description of the Invention:
The invention relates to a drop label that exceeds the state of the art, eliminates its disadvantages and offers additional advantages.
The object of the invention is to provide a drop label for use in textile products.
A further object of the invention is to provide a new drop label that is soft and stretchable, with high strength and improved aesthetic appearance.
A further object of the invention is to provide a drop label which is not affected by washing, ironing, drying and similar processes to which textile products are subjected.
Another object of the invention is to provide a new drop label that does not contain mercury in the material so as not to harm human health.
Description of Figures:
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying figures, so that the aspects of the invention will be more clearly understood. However, it is not intended to limit the invention to these particular embodiments. On the contrary, it is also intended to cover all alternatives, modifications and equivalents of the invention that may be included within the field defined by the appended claims. It is to be understood that the details shown are provided only
for the purpose of describing preferred embodiments of the present invention and are presented for the purpose of providing the most useful and easily understood description of both the embodiment of the methods and the rules and conceptual features of the invention. In these drawings:

Description of the Invention:
In this detailed description, the drop label (10) of the invention is described only by way of non-limiting examples for a better understanding of the subject matter.
In Figure 1 , the drop label (10) of the invention can be applied to textile products. In order to achieve this, the drop label (10) must be flexible and have high thermal resistance. As described in the known art, due to the structure of drop labels, both flexibility and thermal resistance capabilities are low. Also it is very difficult to adhere to flexible and pliable products such as textile fabrics. In the invention, the drop label (10) has high flexibility and thermal resistance due to its material. At the same time, its adhesion to the surface is also improved.
The drop label (10) of the invention is applied on the textile surface (13) with hot glue (12). Since the melting point of the hot glue (12) is high, it prevents the drop label (10) from separating from the textile surface (13) in processes requiring temperature such as ironing, drying and washing to be applied to the textile product. However, there was still a need for flexibility and surface adhesion capability. For this purpose, a special mixture was preferred for the resin (11 ) material forming the convex curved part of the drop label (10). Resin (11 ) is a mixture of Dimethylacetamide, Cyclohexanone and Polyurethane in certain proportions.
Dimethylacetamide appears as a clear, colorless liquid with a slight odor, similar in density. It has approximately the same density as water. It has a specific mass of 0.940 g/ml, which makes the resin (11 ) more elastic. Its boiling point is between 163-165°C. This improves the thermal resistance of the drop label (10). Dimethylacetamide has a transparent appearance, allowing the resin (11 ) to be produced colorless. Color pigments can be added to the resin (11 ) mixture to produce a colored drop label (10). The above-described information describes the purpose for which Dimethylacetamide is preferred in the invention. (The accuracy of the information can be checked at PubChem web address).
Cyclohexanone appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a pleasant odor. It has a specific mass of 0.962 g/ml, which makes the resin (11 ) more elastic. The boiling point is 155.4°C, which improves the thermal resistance of the drop label (10). One of the reasons for preference is that it is colorless. Color pigments can be added to the resin (11 ) mixture to produce a colored drop label (10). The above-described information describes the purpose for which Dimethylacetamide is preferred in the invention. (The accuracy of the information can be checked at PubChem web address).
Polyurethane is a polymer consisting of a chain of organic units joined by carbamate linkages. They are used in the production of flexible and non- stretchable foams, durable elastomers and high-performance adhesives, synthetic fibers, gaskets, condoms, carpet backing and hard plastics. The resin
(11 ) is used as a filling material in the invention.
Polyurethane is a material often used in drop labels. It is not possible to use a drop label (10) made directly from polyurethane in textile products since sufficient flexibility cannot be provided. Its flexibility has been improved and its thermal resistance has been increased by using Dimethylacetamide and Cyclohexanone materials in the resin (11 ) of the inventive drop label (10).
12.5% of Dimethylacetamide, 25% of Cyclohexanone and 62.5% of polyurethane are used in the drop label resin (11 ) of the invention. Although these ratios were determined in this way as a result of the tests performed, it is considered appropriate to use Dimethylacetamide preferably between 5-25%, more preferably between 10-15%, Cyclohexanone preferably between 10-50%, more preferably between 20-35%, polyurethane preferably between 40-85%, more preferably between 55-70% in the invention.
In some embodiments of the inventive drop label (10), a matte PET film is used to improve the surface adhesion between the textile surface (13) and the hot glue (12). The matte PET film layer, with its rough structure, allows the hot glue
(12) to better penetrate between the resin (11 ) and the textile surface (13). In this way, the adhesion ability of the drop label (10) on the textile product is improved.
The resin (11 ) of the drop label (10) of the invention is formed directly on the textile product (A) or on the matte PET layer by a computer programmed transfer machine, and then applied on the textile surface (13) with hot glue (12). The transfer machine presses the resin material with nozzles that can move in three axes. The mode of operation is exactly like a CNC machine. Application is
carried out under appropriate pressure at room temperature. With the support of the computer program, the nozzles provide the creation of a label model with all kinds of text, figures, logos and similar shapes drawn in the computer program. The inventive drop label (10) allows the formation of curved shapes on textile products (A), which can be glossy, transparent, colored or matt. In this way, manufacturers can apply their logos or marks and special patterns to textile products in a flexible, high quality and aesthetic way.
