- TITLE Alteromonadaceae extract and its cosmetic use
- the present invention relates to a particular extract of Alteromonadaceae and a method of cosmetic treatment of the skin using this extract.
- the present invention relates to an exopolysaccharide included in this extract.
- Exopolysaccharides are high molecular weight polymers composed of oses and secreted by a microorganism in its immediate environment. Due to the great diversity of composition, exopolysaccharides have found many applications in various industries.
- bacterial exopolysaccharides are advantageous because their production and quality do not depend on climatic, ecological and political risks unlike the equivalent extracted from algae or plants.
- these polymers offer a greater degree of structural regularity and may be extracted and purified more easily.
- the inventors discovered a new exopolysaccharide of a particularly large size, and very rich in uronic acid.
- the use of this new exopolysaccharide makes it possible to improve the luminosity of the skin, and to standardize the complexion and the texture of the skin, thereby improving the radiance of the complexion, while promoting hydration and generating a feeling of well-being.
- this exopolysaccharide due to its high molecular weight, gives sensory properties to the cosmetic composition and reinforces this feeling of well-being.
- the effective concentration is lower than those conventionally described for other exopolysaccharides, which is of economic interest to the formulator.
- This exopolysaccharide may, in particular, be obtained from Alteromonadaceae.
- the present invention therefore relates to an Alteromonadaceae extract comprising an exopolysaccharide with a molecular weight between 3.10 6 and 5.10 6 Da which comprises the following amounts: glucose, galactose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid.

- Uronic acids are chemical compounds obtained by oxidation of the last carbon of simple oses.
- the exopolysaccharide present in the extract comprises more than 20% by weight of uronic acid, preferably more than 30% and more particularly more than 35% of uronic acid.
- the exopolysaccharide comprises between 35 and 45% by weight of uronic acid.

- the exopolysaccharide present in the extract according to the invention does not include any substituents other than the lactate and acetate substituents.
- the exopolysaccharide according to the invention does not comprise a sulfate group.
- the osidic composition of the exopolysaccharide present in the extract of the invention was determined by gas chromatography.
- the exopolysaccharide present in the extract according to the invention is preferably very hygroscopic.
- the extract according to the invention comprises between 0.1 and 10% by weight of this exopolysaccharide.
- the extract according to the invention has a polydispersity index of less than 2 and more particularly between 1 and 1 .5.
- the polydispersity index was determined by steric exclusion chromatography.

- Example 1 The extract obtained in Example 1 was analyzed by High Performance Steric Exclusion Chromatography (HPSEC), see Figure 1 . This figure shows that the extract obtained is of high purity. The weight of the detected molecule is 4.16.10 6 Da.

- the interaction profile of the extract was obtained by testing the capacity of this extract to inhibit the interactions between a lectin and the binding ose. 20 lectin/ose pairs (see Table 1 ) were tested at 3 different concentrations.
- the exopolysaccharide from the extract of Example 1 had an effect on the following lectins ConA LCH, DC-Sign, BC2L-A, AIA, PNA, PA-IL, GSL-II, WGA, HPA and COR-M .
- This shows that the exopolysaccharide comprises glucose, galactose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid residues and bioavailable rhamnose-like units.
- These results confirm the glycosidic sequence deciphered in GC, and reveal a new motif, the rhamnose-like motif.
- DC-Sign is involved in chronic skin inflammations.
- COR-M indicates the presence of a bioavailable rhamnose-like motif and indicates that the exopolysaccharide could promote dermo-epidermal regeneration by activating the extracellular matrix and by promoting the production of gene mediating inflammation.
- the extract provides a significantly more satisfactory result than the placebo.
- the hydration of the skin is improved in the presence of the extract compared to the placebo solution.
- the extract therefore hydrates the skin.
- the extract also makes it possible to increase the luminosity of the skin, to improve the texture of the skin, and to homogenize the color of the skin, thus improving the radiance of the complexion.
- the Emospin test was used to assess the emotional impact of using the extract.
- the prosody of the volunteers in Example 4 was studied before the test and at the end.
- the frequency (measured in Hertz (Hz)) and the volume (measured in decibels (dB)) of the voice of the volunteers in Example 4 were evaluated (see Figures 5 and 6).
- the inventors observed that the frequency and the volume of the voice of the volunteers who used the extract decreased significantly compared to the volunteers who used the placebo. This decrease is a sign of relaxation and therefore improvement in the person's feeling of well-being.
