Definitions
- the present invention relates to implements for holding and supporting small objects, and more particularly to finger mounted tweezer devices.
- the invention also relates to a method of attaching individual hair extensions to individual hairs of the eye lashes.
- Tweezers also known as pincers, are mainly used for tasks such as plucking hair from the face or eyebrows, often using the term eyebrow tweezers.
- Other common uses for tweezers are as a tool to manipulate small objects, including for example small, particularly surface-mount, electronic parts, and small mechanical parts for models and precision mechanisms.
- Stamp collectors use tweezers (stamp tongs) to handle postage stamps which, while large enough to pick up by hand, could be damaged by handling; the jaws of stamp tongs are smooth.
- Tweezers are also used in kitchens for food presentation to remove bones from fillets of fish in a process known as pin boning.
- Conventional tweezers make use of two levers, or tongs, or prongs, connected at one fixed end (the fulcrum point of each lever), with the pincers at the others.
- Finger mounted tweezers are known from, for example, patent document US 3,293,958. Problems with currently existing solutions according to US 3,293,958 is that the finger mounted tweezer is difficult and expensive to manufacture and that it is difficult to use the tweezer since the fingertip is covered by the hood of the tweezer and that the tweezer is difficult to clean in an efficient way. Further problems which the present invention aims to solve will be elucidated below in the detailed description of the various embodiments .
- An object of the present invention is to provide novel and improved implements for holding, supporting or manipulating small objects in a manner that has been up until now practiced by means of tweezers, the implements being arranged to be mounted on the ends of the fingers of the user so as to serve as finger extensions designed to function as an improved tweezer.
- the invention relates to a finger mounted tweezer where the tweezer comprises a ring shaped body portion where a tong is arranged to the ring shaped body portion.
- the tong is arranged to a shield and the shield is arranged to the ring shaped body portion.
- the ring shaped body portion and the tong, and/or the shield are made of stainless steel.
- the tong is arranged to the ring shaped body portion and/or the shield by welding.
- the diameter of the ring shaped body portion is adapted so that the fingertip of the user of the finger mount tweezer is exposed.
- the exposure of the fingertip is between 2 - 8 mm measured from the fingertip to the ring shaped body portion of the finger mount tweezer.
- the invention further relates to a method of attaching individual hair extensions to individual hairs of the eye lashes, where a first finger mounted tweezer is arranged to the index finger of a first hand and a second finger tweezer is arranged to the long finger of the first hand and a third finger mounted tweezer is arranged to the thumb of the second hand and a fourth tweezer is arranged to the index finger or the long finger of the second hand where; - an individual hair of the eye lash is laid open by separating the surrounding hairs of the eye lash by the first and second finger tweezers,
- the individual hair extension is kept in the position to the individual hair of the eye lash until it is fixed to the hair of the eye lash.
- the little finger of the second hand is arranged with a fifth finger mounted tweezer.
- the invented finger mounted tweezer provides more control, improved ease of manipulation, and being especially useful in attaching hair extensions or removing hair, especially hairs of the eyelash and/or eyebrows.
- Other suitable uses could be in the repair, assembling or dismantling of small or delicate mechanisms.
- Fig. 1 shows a figure of a finger mounted tweezer according to one embodiment of the invention.
- Fig. lb shows a figure of a part of a finger mounted tweezer according to one embodiment of the invention.
- Fig. 2 shows a figure of the main body portion of a finger mounted tweezer in a view from two sides according to one embodiment of the invention.
- Fig. 3 shows a figure of the tong of a finger mounted tweezer according to one embodiment of the invention.
- Fig. 4 shows a figure of details of a pair of of a finger mounted tweezers according to one embodiment of the invention .
- Fig. 5 shows a figure of the main body portion of a finger mounted tweezer according to one embodiment of the invention .
- Fig. 1 shows a finger mounted tweezer.
- Two tweezer implements are intended to be used in pairs to achieve tweezer functionality.
- Each tweezer implement 1 comprises a main body portion 10 of metal or other suitable rigid material, said main body portion 10 are preferably of a ring type but could also be concavely-recessed and contoured to receive the end of the finger of a user.
- the body portion could also be of a ring with variable diameter.
- An example of a ring with variable diameter is a magnet band ring or a ring with an opening allowing for change of the diameter of the ring.
- the inside surface of said main body portion 10 could be provided with a resilient deformable lining of rubber or other suitable cushioning material to provide for a better user experience.
- the main body portion 10 is provided with a forwardly-projecting tweezer tong 11, said tweezer tong having a tip 12, the tweezer tong 11 could for example be straight or tapered curved tip.
- the tong is made from a flat piece of metal where the tip is tapered and ending with a square or rectangular surface with small area. The tip should nevertheless not be pointy.
- the body portion 10 could define a cavity to receive the end portion of the finger, or fingertip, of the user but it is preferable to have a ring type configuration to that the fingertip of the user is exposed.
- the exposed fingertip of the user of the finger mount tweezer helps the user to feel the skin of the individual to whom hair extensions to individual hairs of the eye lashes is attached.
- the tong 11 is preferable attached to the body portion 10 by welding 13 but could also be glued or attached by other means.
- the tong 11 and body portion 10 could also be manufactured from a single piece of material. Suitable material for the tweezer is stainless steel, other metals or plastics.
- Fig. lb shows an alternative embodiment of a part of finger mounted tweezer where the tong 11' is arranged to a shield 30.
- the shield 30 is preferably configured to be positioned above a nail of the user of the finger mounted tweezer.
- the shield 30 is thus in size and shape identical or similar to an artificial nail.
- a body portion 10 is arranged to the shield 30 at a position on the shield 30, as an example the position 35 fig. lb.
- the shield 30 could be arranged on the external surface of the body portion 10 or on the internal surface of the body portion 10.
- the shield is preferably made of stainless steel, other metals or plastics.
- the shield is preferably about 0,1 - 2 mm thick, 8 - 20 mm long and 8 - 20 mm wide and slightly curved to follow the curvature of the nail.
- Fig. 2 shows the body portion 10 of the finger mounted tweezer.
- the body portion is preferably between 3 - 15 mm in length, 1, and between 0.2 - 2 mm thick, t, and an internal diameter, d, between 14 - 25 mm.
- Fig. 3 shows the tong 11 of the finger mounted tweezer.
- the tong 11 is preferably made of a rectangular piece of sheet metal with a length, 12, of between 10 - 50 mm, a width, w, of between 1 - 10 mm and a thickness of between 0.1 - 4 mm.
- the tip preferably starts to be tapered about 2-20 mm, as indicated by tp in the figure 3, from the end of the tong.
- the width at the end of the tong, w2 is between 0.2 - 2 mm.
- Fig. 4 shows details of a pair of finger mounted tweezers 1, 1', arranged to operate in combination.
- the tong 11 may be arranged so that their tips 12 can cooperate with each other to manipulate or grasp delicate and slender objects with perfect control thereof by the user.
- Fig. 5 shows the main body portion 10 in the form of a ring with an opening 20 allowing to adjustments of the diameter of the main body portion 10.
- the tweezer devices may be readily slipped over the ends of the user's fingers and will be retained thereon as long as required. When the required operations have been completed, the tweezer implements can be quickly and easily removed from the fingers of the user merely by slipping them off.
- a pair of tweezer implements 1, 1' may be engaged on the thumb and forefinger of the hand of the user with the tweezer tong elements 11 in opposing cooperating relationship, the body portions 10, 10' frictionally engaging the ends of the fingers of the users and being thus retained thereon.
- the ends of the fingers may be readily slipped into the body portions 10, 10' when the implements are to be used, and may be readily disengaged therefrom at the end of such use.
- a first finger mounted tweezer is attached to the index finger of a first hand and a second finger tweezer is attached to the long finger of the first hand and a third finger mounted tweezer is attached to the thumb of the second hand and a fourth tweezer is attached to the index finger of the second hand where; a individual hair of the eye lash is laid open by separating the surrounding hairs of the eye lash by the first and second finger tweezers,
- a fifth finger tweezer could be attached to the little finger of the second hand.
- the fifth finger tweezer could be utilized to move individual hairs of the eye lash to be secured by the first and second finger tweezer holding the surrounding hairs of the eye lashes.
- the invention is not limited to the embodiments specifically shown, but can be varied in different ways within the scope of the patent claims.
- removing hair by epilation i.e. the removal of the entire hair including parts of the hair that is below the skin.
