Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Verifikation eines Sicherheitsdokuments (1) mittels eines Lesegeräts (2), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass erste Transmissions- und/oder Reflexionseigenschaften eines ersten Bereichs (3) des Sicherheitsdokuments (1) in einem ersten Spektralbereich von dem Lesegerät (2) erfasst werden und hieraus eine diese Eigenschaften spezifizierender erster Datensatz erstellt wird, wobei der erste Bereich (3) ein auf dem Sicherheitsdokument (1) angeordnetes oder in das Sicherheitsdokument (1) eingebettetes optisches Sicherheitselement (1a, 1b) zumindest bereichsweise überlappt, dass zweite Transmissions- und/oder Reflexionseigenschaften des ersten Bereichs (3) des Sicherheitsdokuments (1) in einem zweiten Spektralbereich von dem Lesegerät (2) erfasst werden und hieraus eine diese Eigenschaften spezifizierender zweiter Datensatz erstellt wird, wobei der erste Spektralbereich sich von dem zweiten Spektralbereich unterscheidet, dass basierend zumindest auf dem ersten Datensatz und dem zweiten Datensatz die Echtheit des Sicherheitsdokuments (1) und/oder des Sicherheitselements (1a, 1b) überprüft wird.
