Abstract
The present invention relates to a dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2), a washing tub (3) provided into the body (2), in which washing is performed, and a drying pocket (4) provided between the washing tub (3) and the body (2), enabling the air drawn from the washing tub (3) to be sent with lower humidity to the washing tub (3).
Description
The present invention relates to a dishwasher with improved drying efficiency.
In a dishwasher, after applying the steps of washing and rinsing, the dishes are dried at the drying step. The drying step is of utmost importance for the dishes to come out of the dishwasher shinier and cleaner. In the drying step, water droplets on the dishes are removed from the dishes by being evaporated. The evaporated water droplets condense by coinciding with cold surfaces and humid air, and are discharged from the washing cabinet. In order for the drying step to be efficient, after completion of the step it is necessary to remove the water vapor rapidly from the washing cabinet or to discharge the vapor from the washing cabinet by condensing. However, it takes time to evaporate, re-condense and to discharge the water droplets on the dishes from the washing cabinet. Therefore, the drying step takes a long time, leading to an increase in program duration and energy consumption. Whereas energy saving programs have a lower drying performance.
State of the art German patent application no. DE102009049066 discloses a dishwasher in which phase change material is used to improve drying performance.
The aim of the present invention is to realize a dishwasher with improved drying efficiency.
The dishwasher realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims comprises a body, and a washing tub provided into the body. A drying pocket is provided between the body and the washing tub. The drying pocket enables the air drawn from the washing tub to be sent to the washing tub by reducing its humidity. A drier air is thus sent to the washing tub, improving the drying performance.
The dishwasher of the invention comprises a chamber provided on the drying pocket. At least one surface of each of the chamber and the drying pocket completely contact each other. By this means, the air in the drying pocket is dehumidified more rapidly.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a chamber whose surface contacting the drying pocket, has modifiable temperature. The chamber is thus adaptable to varying algorithms.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a chamber which can be filled with cold water from the mains. By this means, a cold surface is formed on the surface of the chamber contacting the drying pocket.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a chamber filled with hot water drawn from the washing tub during washing. By this means, a hot surface is formed on the surface of the chamber contacting the drying pocket.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a heater provided on the chamber. When cold water is drawn into the chamber from the mains, the water is heated by means of the heater. The chamber is thus adaptable to varying algorithms.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a chamber attachable on and detachable from the drying pocket. By this means, the chamber can be added later on, or can be removed when required.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a reservoir provided on the body. The reservoir contains water of temperatures different than that in the chamber. By this means, the amount and variety of water stored in the dishwasher is increased.
The dishwasher realized to achieve the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the dishwasher.
Figure 2 is a schematic view of the drying pocket and the chamber.
Figure 3 is a schematic view of the chamber and the heater.
Figure 4 is a schematic view of the chamber and the reservoir.
The elements in the figures are numbered individually and the correspondence of these numbers are given hereinafter.
- Dishwasher
- Body

The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2), a washing tub (3) provided into the body (2), in which washing is performed, and a drying pocket (4) provided between the washing tub (3) and the body (2), enabling the air drawn from the washing tub (3) to be sent with lower humidity to the washing tub (3). The air drawn into the drying pocket (4) is dehumidified and sent back to the washing tub (3). By this means, when the washing program reaches the drying step, a rapid drying is performed by means of the dry air. The duration and energy used for drying is thus reduced. (Figure 1)
The dishwasher (1) of the invention comprises a chamber (5) provided on the drying pocket (4), whose at least one surface contacts with a surface of the drying pocket (4) and enables heat exchange with the drying pocket (4). Heat exchange is enabled by means of the surface of the chamber (5) contacting the drying pocket (4). By this means, the air drawn from the washing tub (3) to the drying pocket (4), is dehumidified more rapidly. The drying step can be performed more rapidly thanks to shortening the process of dehumidification of the air in the drying pocket (4), thereby saving time and energy. (Figure 2)
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a chamber (5) adaptable to varying algorithms by modifying the temperature of its surface contacting the drying pocket (4). The surface temperature can be modified by changing the temperature of the water in the chamber (5). By this means, using the chamber (5) enables saving time and energy also through varying algorithms.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a chamber (5) enabling forming a cold surface when filled with cold water received from the mains. The surface contacting the drying pocket (4) is cooled when the chamber (5) is filled with cold water. By this means, the condensing process is performed more rapidly in the drying pocket (4), enabling shortening the duration of the drying step and saving the energy consumed for condensation.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a chamber (5) forming a hot surface when filled with hot water drawn from the washing tub (3) during washing. The hot water drawn from the washing tub (3) during washing, is filled into the chamber (5). A surface of the chamber (5) is thus heated. The humidity of the air can be rapidly reduced on the drying pocket (4) contacting the hot surface. By this means, more dry air can be sent to the washing tub (3) in a shorter time, thereby shortening the duration of the drying step and saving energy.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a heater (6) provided on the chamber (5), enabling the water received into the chamber (5) to be heated. The cold water received from the mains into the chamber (5) can be heated by means of the heater (6). By this means, only the water in the chamber (5) is heated, without using the water heated in the dishwasher (1) during washing. The dishwasher (1) is able to adapt varying algorithms by means of the chamber (5) enabling the water within to be used as cold or hot water. (Figure 3)
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a chamber (5) attachable on and detachable from the drying pocket (4). The chamber (5) can be attached on and detached from the drying pocket (4). By this means, the chamber (5) can be removed when desired. The harmful materials likely to be formed by the water remaining in the chamber (5) can be easily cleaned by removal of the chamber (5). Hygiene and ease of use is thus provided.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a drying pocket (4) whose outer surface thickness is reduced. The thickness of the outer surface of the drying pocket (4) is reduced. By this means, the heat exchange between the chamber (5) and the drying pocket (4) is enhanced. In addition, the drying pocket (4) with the reduced outer surface thickness occupies less space in the dishwasher (1). By this means, placement of the chamber (5) on the dishwasher (1) is facilitated.
In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a reservoir (7) provided between the washing tub (3) and the body (2), containing water of a temperature different than that in the chamber (5). Water with a temperature different than the water in the chamber (5), is filled in the reservoir (7). Water can be transmitted to the reservoir (7) from the mains or through the washing tub (3). The reservoir (7) and the chamber (5) can be utilized simultaneously. By this means, the amount of water stored in the dishwasher (1) is increased. (Figure 4)
A dishwasher (1) with improved drying efficiency is realized with the present invention. The air in the washing tub (3) is used at the drying step by being dehumidified by means of a drying pocket (4) provided between the washing tub (3) and the body (2). The faster the dehumidification process of the air is performed in the drying pocket (4), the faster drying is performed. A chamber (5) is used on the drying pocket (4). The chamber (5) can be filled with cold or hot water. The dehumidification of the air is performed more rapidly in the drying pocket (4) by means of the heat exchange between the chamber (5) and the drying pocket (4). By this means, drying performance is enhanced, saving time and energy.
