  • This invention relates generally to exercise machines used to improve performance, power, agility, speed and quickness in sports requiring at least some lateral movement, and to an adjustable resilient resistance device. More specifically, the disclosed and claimed subject matter relates to a resistance device used in combination with a modular exercise device for functional training that have pedals mounted on inclined, lateral tracks and an adjustable resistance device that uses a spring or other resilient means to provide resistance to lateral, downward movement of the pedals. An alternative modular exercise device with the pedals are mounted to vertical tracks is contemplated. The invention also relates to a method of functional or performance training on the machine.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil modulaire à résistance réglable destiné à être utilisé avec au moins un dispositif d'entraînement pour améliorer les performance d'un utilisateur, telles que la puissance, l'agilité, la vitesse et la rapidité, dans des sports faisant appel à au moins un certain degré de déplacement latéral ou vertical. L'appareil à résistance selon l'invention met en oeuvre des moyens élastiques, tels que des ressorts, pouvant être réglés afin d'augmenter ou de réduire la quantité de force de résistance par changement du type de moyens élastiques (présentant une résistance plus ou moins élevée à un mouvement d'étirement), du nombre de ressorts ou du réglage d'emplacement des ressorts le long d'un ou plusieurs montants pivotants. Les dispositifs d'entraînement utilisés avec l'appareil à résistance sont fixés amovibles sur ce dernier et reliés opérationnels par un câble.
