Abstract

An article of footwear (100) may include an upper (120) and a sole structure (110) secured to the upper (120). The upper (120) has a knitted component (130, 152, 600) formed of unitary knit construction that includes at least one gore region (410, 620) located in a heel region (103) of the article of footwear (100). The gore region (410, 620) provides a contoured configuration to the knitted component (130, 152, 600). In a method of manufacturing, a knitted component (130, 152, 600) may include a first gore region (410, 620) and a plurality of second gore regions (410), with the first gore region (410, 620) being located in a heel area of the article of footwear (100) and the second gore regions (410) being located adjacent to the sole structure (110).
