Abstract

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés pour décomposer de façon thermique une charge d'alimentation hydrocarbonée qui peut comprendre une charge d'alimentation hydrocarbonée, un gaz support non oxydant, un ou plusieurs échangeurs de chaleur et une chambre de réaction. Le gaz support peut être utilisé pour transférer de la chaleur à la charge d'alimentation hydrocarbonée. Le ou les échangeurs de chaleur peuvent être configurés pour chauffer le gaz support, et la chambre de réaction peut être configurée pour recevoir la charge d'alimentation hydrocarbonée et le gaz support chauffé. A l'intérieur de la chambre de réaction, la charge d'alimentation hydrocarbonée et le gaz support chauffé peuvent se mélanger l'un avec l'autre provoquant la réaction de décomposition thermique. La réaction de décomposition thermique a lieu dans un environnement sensiblement exempt d'oxydant, éliminant ainsi ou réduisant grandement la production de sous-produits d'oxyde carboné. L'hydrogène gazeux peut être séparé à partir d'un courant de produit gazeux qui est ensuite collecté à partir de la chambre de réaction. Une partie du courant de produit gazeux peut être couplée de façon thermique au gaz support et peut ensuite être recyclée à travers le système.
