Abstract

The invention relates to a steam ironing device (2), comprising an ironing soleplate (4) having steam outlet openings (6), a tank (8) for evaporation liquid (W), a steam generating system having a steam chamber (10), which is connected to the steam outlet openings (6) and into which the evaporation liquid (W) can be introduced, a heating device (14) for heating the ironing soleplate (4) and/or the steam chamber (10), an electrically operated pump (P) for actively pumping evaporation liquid (W) from the tank (8) into the steam chamber (10), and a first switching element (S1), which interrupts an electrical circuit of the pump (P) if a temperature in the area of the steam chamber (10) or of the ironing soleplate (4) is below a specified first temperature threshold. In addition, a second switching element (S2), which closes the electrical circuit of the pump (P) if the temperature in the area of the steam chamber (10) or of the ironing soleplate (4) is below a specified second temperature threshold, wherein the second temperature threshold is below the first temperature threshold, and an operating element (26) for activating a cleaning process, wherein evaporation liquid (W) is pumped into the steam chamber (10), are provided.
