Abstract
The present invention relates to a water pipe or hookah comprising a water jar part (1), an upper part (2) for flameless combustion of organic matter and a tube system with a mouth piece/suction hose, for simple change in position of a mouth piece/suction hose connected to the water pipe or hookah and a hose connection part. The hose connection part is not subjected to mechanical pressure, and is mounted for easy rotation relative to both the hookah water jar (1) and the upper part (2) of the hookah and has at least one inner channel communicating with the hookah jar part (1) so that an under pressure can be generated therein via the suction hose.
Description
Waterpipe or hookah
The present invention relates to a waterpipe or hookah. The tradition of using a waterpipe or hookah is old. It is smoked in the company of friends and family, either by using the same mouthpiece which is connected to a hose and then to the waterpipe it self, for all the participating smokers, or by using a waterpipe or hookah which has been equipped with a plurality of mouthpieces. It is a social and relaxing activity for all the participants and the smoke also spreads a pleasant fragrance. Often herbs are smoked, not tobacco containing nicotine, and therefore there could even be certain positive health benefits in connection therewith. Other names for waterpipe or hookah are shisha, nargeela and argeela.
In using a hookah, each participant takes one or two drags and then passes the hose to the next person. There are also hookahs with a plurality of hoses, i.e. when smoked from the same hookah but each individual has his own mouthpiece coupled to his own hose. The greatest social effect in connection with using the hookah is however to smoke together with others from a single mouth piece, i.e. the mouth piece "is passed around" in the smokers' group. Since the connection between the hose and the hookah proper can lie relatively high up on the hookah there is a risk of upsetting the hookah if great care is not taken when passing the mouthpiece to the next smoker. The smoker who is sitting opposite the connection between the mouthpiece hose and the hookah proper must thus bend the hose 180°, which can strain both the connection and the hose itself, on top of the risk of tipping over the tall waterpipe.
The main purpose of the present invention is to achieve a hookah design which facilitates social smoking of a hookah with a common mouthpiece/suction hose. Another purpose of the invention is to define a device which substantially reduces the risk of tipping over the hookah when passing the mouth piece/suction hose.
Another purpose of the invention is to achieve a waterpipe or hookah which is easily disassembled and cleaned and which is also easy to assemble into a secure smoking configuration. The above listed purposes of the invention can be achieved by a waterpipe or hookah which has the characterizing features disclosed in the claims.
By virtue the fact that the suction hose is connected to a valve portion which is rotatably mounted on the waterpipe or hookah, the suction hose and valve portion can be moved 360° around the waterpipe without the suction hose becoming wrapped around and shortened thus increasing the risk of tipping over the waterpipe or hookah.
The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view of a waterpipe or hookah equipped with the valve arrangement in accordance with the present invention.
The figure shows the waterpipe or hookah in perspective in a partially disassembled state with an upper part 2 separate from a water jar part 1 and where an intermediate valve part A lies between these two parts. The upper part 2 is designed for flameless combustion of organic matter. The intermediate part A assumes no load from the upper part 2. From the upper part 2, a tube 4 extends down into the water jar part 2 and opens below the water surface. A collar C2 is disposed at the upper mouth of the water jar part and forms a sliding seal together with the lower portion a2 of a rotatable valve part A. The upper portion a1 of the valve part A forms, in the same manner, a sliding seal with the lower portion b1 of the upper part 2. The fluted connecting portion B has a tube 4 which extends below the water surface in the jar part 1 . Around its periphery, the connecting portion B has flutes or splines which permit underpressure in the suction hose to be transmitted via the valve part A to the water jar 1 . Is it important that the valve part A can change its angle and position easily in relation to the jar 1 and the upper part 2. By having the communicating connection between the valve part A and the jar 1 via said flutes or splines, which do not have any surface contact with the valve part A, the flutes or splines will be relatively simple to clean of condensate deposited during the use of the hookah. It is
of course possible to create said communicating connection between the valve part A and the water jar 1 in another manner, i.e. via one or more channels drilled in parallell in the connecting portion B. The fixing of the connecting part B to the jar part 1 can be advantageously effected with a bayonet lock of the type which provides a distinct sound when there is a correct connection between the parts.
A bayonet connection can also be disposed between the top of the valve part A and the part of the tube which extends up to the pipe bowl itself. The valve part A is a hose connection part which bears no load, is mounted for easy rotation relative to both the jar part 1 and the upper part 2 and has at least an inner channel communicating with the jar part 1 so that an underpressure can be created therein via the suction hose. A tube system with a mouthpiece/suction hose is thus connected to the hose connection part.
According to the invention it will be simple to change the position of the mouthpiece/ suction hose connected to the hookah and the hose connection part.
Claims
1 . Waterpipe or hookah, comprising a water jar part (1 ), an upper part (2) for flameless combustion of organic matter and a tube system with a mouthpiece/ suction hose, for simple change in the position of a mouthpiece/suction hose coupled to the waterpipe or hookah and a hose connection part, characterized in that the hose connection part is not subjected to load, is mounted for easy rotation relative to both the jar portion (1 ) of the waterpipe or hookah and to the upper part (2) of the waterpipe or hookah and has at least one inner channel communicating with the jar part (1 ) of the waterpipe or hookah so that an underpressure can be created via the suction hose inside the jar part.
