Abstract

This invention encompasses systems and methods for converting solid carbonaceous material to a liquid product, comprising maintaining a solid carbonaceous material in the presence of at least one active source of nickel and at least one active source of a second metal at a reaction temperature of greater than 350C and at a pressure in the range of 300 to 5000 psig for a time sufficient to form a liquid product.
