Abstract

This is a new oven for cooking food comprising a removable partition (2), insertabJe between the ceiling (1.4) and the floor (1.5) inside the cooking chamber, designed to divide said cooking chamber into two laterally adjacent cooking semi-chambers (1a, 1b). Runners (1.3, 2.1) for supporting racks are provided on the lateral internal surfaces (1.1, 1.2) of the cooking chamber aod on the lateral surfaces of the removable partition (2). There arc two or more sources of heat for the independent heating of the two semi- chambers (1a, 1b).

Description

AN QVEN FOR COOKING FOOD
DESCRIPTION
The present patent relates to ovens and to domestic and/or fitted ovens in particular. There are known domestic ovens comprising a muffle with a front opening covered with a corresponding drop-down door.
Inside the muffle, i.e. in the cooking chamber, there are side walls with runners for the insertion of one or more supporting racks for resting pans. baking tins and the food to cook in general. Said cooking chamber is heated by one or more sources of heat, typically using gas or electricity.
Gas-heated ovens usually have a burner located underneath floor of the cooking chamber.
Electrically-heated ovens usually have one or more electric heating elements located under the floor of the cooking chamber and/or in the vicinity of the ceiling of the cooking chamber, inside the chamber itself.
In some electrically-heated solutions, there are also fans designed to make circulate and spread the air heated by said electric heating elements.
The ovens of the known art have several drawbacks. The ovens of the known art have only one cooking chamber; as a consequence, when two or more dishes have to be cooked, this must be done sequentially or by means of undesirable combinations. Different dishes rarely require the same type of cooking method, temperature and duration, so it is rarely possible to cook dishes simultaneously. There are known types of oven with a cooking chamber of small dimensions, typically 40 cm by 60 cm, that are generically used to cook small servings of food. These ovens are inadequate on the occasions when it is necessary to cook larger-sized servings.
There are known types of oven with a cooking chamber of larger dimensions, typically 40 cm by 90 cm, that are needed to cook larger servings of food to serve several people. These ovens are not cost-effective, however, when it becomes necessary to cook smaller servings of food.
To overcome all the above-mentioned drawbacks, a new oven has been conceived and realised that has a large cooking chamber fitted with a removable partition applicable in a vertical position inside the cooking chamber, so as to obtain two distinct cooking chambers inside the same oven.
One object of the new oven is to enable both the cooking of large dishes that cannot be divided, and the cooking, even simultaneously, of smaller dishes requiring a different cooking method, cooking temperature and cooking time. Another object of the new oven is to enable the cooking of two different dishes using two different sources of heat.
Another object of the new oven is to enable the cooking of two identical dishes of small dimensions, using different times for beginning and ending the cooking process. These and other direct and complimentary objects are achieved by the new oven with a large cooking chamber fitted with a removable partition that is applicable in a vertical position inside the cooking chamber so as to obtain two separate cooking semi-chambers. Inside the cooking chamber, on the side walls, there are suitable runners for the positioning of supporting racks that have the same width as the width of the undivided cooking chamber. On both sides of the vertical partition there are corresponding runners for positioning supporting racks that have the same width as each cooking semi-chamber.
The new oven has a single drop-down door or, alternatively, two adjacent, separate drop-down doors, each of which is the same width as the correspondijog cooking semi-chamber. Said two doors are also designed so that they can be connected together in order to enable them to be opened simultaneously when the oven is used without the vertical partition. Two sources of heat are provided for each of the two semi-chambers separated by said removable partition. Said sources of heat may be of the same type or of different types; they may rely on gas or electricity, possibly also with a fan-assisted circulation. Each of said sources of heat is complete with on/off controls and independent temperature controls. It is also possible to provide for the controls of one of the two heat sources to regulate the other source of heat too when said two sources of heat are operated jointly to heat the undivided cooking chamber as a whole. The characteristics of the new oven with a large cooking chamber complete with a removable partition applicable in a vertical position are better clarified in the following description with reference to the drawing attached as a non-limiting example.
The attached drawing shows a generic front view of the new oven. The new oven has a large cooking chamber, on the side walls (1.1, 1.2) of which there are runners (1.3) suitable for the positioning of supporting racks of a width corresponding to the width of the undivided cooking chamber.
On the ceiling and floor (1.4, 1.5) of the cooking chamber, there are runners
(1.6), occupying a generically central position and extending along the full depth of the cooking chamber. Said runners (1.6) are designed to contain a removable partition (2) and to keep it in a vertical position.
Said removable partition (2) is exactly the same height and depth as the cooking chamber.
When said removable partition (2) is contained in the corresponding runners (1.6) inside the cooking chamber, said cooking chamber is divided into two adjacent cooking semi-chambers (Ia, Ib). Said removable partition (2) is made of a thermally insulating material so as to enable the heating of each cooking semi-chamber (Ia, Ib), without substantially influencing the temperature of the adjacent cooking semi- chamber (Ib, I a). On either side of the removable partition (2), there are runners (2.1) for the positioning of racks that correspond to the runners (1-3) provided on the side walls (1.1, 1.2) of the cooking chamber.
Two semi-doors (3a, 3b) are hinged to the lower edge of the front opening giving access to the cooking chamber, each of which is designed to close one of the corresponding cooking semi-chambers (Ia, Ib) into which the cooking chamber is divided by the removable partition (2).
Each of said semi-doors (3a, 3b) is fitted with its own handle (3.1) for opening and closing. Gaskets (4) are provided both along the lateral edges against which the doors (3a, 3b) abut with the cooking chamber, and along the outward-facing edge of the removable vertical partition (2). The new oven is fitted with separate sources of heat for each of the cooking semi-chambers (Ia, Ib), operated by separate controls (5a, 5b) for each semi-chamber (Ia, Ib).
Thus, with reference to the previous description and to the attached drawing, the following claims are advanced.

Claims

2. An oven according to claim 1, characterised in that the inside lateral surfaces (1.1, 1.2) of the cooking chamber have runners (1.3) for supporting racks, and in that said removable partition (2) also has runners (2.1) for supporting racks on its lateral surfaces that correspond to the runners (1.3) on the walls of the cooking chamber.
3. An oven according to previous claims, characterised in that it has two or more sources of heat for independently heating the two cooking semi-chambers (Ia, Ib).
4. An oven according to claim 3, characterised in that it has two sets of controls for operating and adjusting the sources of heat for the two cooking semi-chambers (Ia, Ib).
5. An oven according to previous claims, characterised in that it has two adjacent separate doors (3a, 3b) suitable for closing each semi-chamber (Ia5 Ib) of the cooking chamber.
6. An oven according to the previous claim, characterised in that it has gaskets (4) both along the lateral edge of the doors (3a, 3b) abutting with the cooking chamber and along the outward-facing edge of the removable partition (2).
