- the points markings 32 relate to "Credibility Points" of the players, and are arranged such that the points level for each player remains within a specified range of between 60 and 300 Credibility Points.
- the indicator 24 is arranged to reduce the points level at a maximum bound of over 300 points, and to increase the points level at a minimum bound of under 60 points.
- the indicator 24 also provides a benefit 34 to the respective player on reaching the maximum bound, and a detriment 36 to the respective player on reaching the minimum bound.
- Credibility Points of a player are increased or decreased when that player's game piece lands on a particular lot 14, as depicted on the specific lots 14 shown in the drawings and as discussed in the example below.
- Each of the indicators 24 has the same information on its reverse side, as shown in Figure 20. This information relates to use of particular cards within the "Justice” and “Double Jeopardy” card sets, in particular a "SUBPOENA” card, a “PRIVILEGE” card and an “INNOCENT” card.
- Each of the "Justice” cards has a letter of the word “JUSTICE” marked thereon, such that it is possible to spell the word by possessing the correct set of seven cards. It is possible to pick up or offload a "Justice” card at various lots 14 on the board 10.
- the games set also includes "Weight of Evidence” (W/E) tokens in three different weight categories - "1", "2" and "3". In order to win the game, a player must collect the correct set of said cards to spell the word "JUSTICE", as well as two W/E tokens from each of the weight categories, without any surplus "Justice” cards or W/E tokens.
- W/E Weight of Evidence
- the game is called “Scales of Justice” and comprises the following tools:
- Game piece tokens (x6) - the game may have 2 to 6 players • Weights of evidence W/E (1 ,2,3) - 25 of each, 75 total
- CONTEMPT Land on this lot and you immediately lose 120 CPs.
- BAIL When a player lands on BAIL, their next roll will determine whether they move or not. If they roll an ODD score number they should then proceed that number of spaces and play. If they roll an EVEN score number (including a "double") they must remain in BAIL until their next turn to roll again to try to roll an ODD score number and proceed.
- NB They can use (BAIL - OUT back of PRIVILEGE Card). They must display BAIL - OUT place this card on DISCOVERY then roll, this entitles the player to roll either an ODD or EVEN number "other than a double" in order to proceed that number of spaces.
- TRUST The player to your left picks up the next (2) DJ cards, you must now TRUST that player to choose which one of these cards is to apply for your turn.
- Weights of Evidence W/E Aim - (l&l. 2&2. 3&3V W/E acquired by choosing in relation to the "above”. (Y), (R), (B), or by instructions from DJ cards. NB: 1 W/E is the lightest W/E, then 2 W/E and 3 is the heaviest W/E.
- DISCOVERY Seven (7) "J” cards are placed on this lot prior to play. "J” cards accumulate on this lot. Players who land on “ELECTION” or choose Election from the OPTIONS lot can choose to DISCOVER and look through all the "J” cards on DISCOVERY and select ONE and only ONE of the cards from this pile. NB: (If there are only a few cards that remain in the actual "J” pile, a player should gather all the cards on DISCOVERY to shuffle all, then place (7) seven of these back on DISCOVERY and the remaining cards back on the "J” pile. Likewise if the DISCOVERY pile of cards is used up, then a player must uplift the next (7) "J” cards from the "J” pile and place them on DISCOVERY.
- ELECTIONI-(DISCOVERY or WAIVER) A choice must be made, once a player elects they are committed to DISCOVERY (see above), WAIVER represents a strict waiver, the election to waiver means the player must wait for their next turn to roll the dice.
- OPTIONS When a player lands on an Options lot, he/she can choose from the following OPTIONS:
- JUSTICE - "J” Pick up the top “J” card from the “J” pile. Aim to spell the word "JUSTICE”. (It is important not to show these cards to your opponent(s)). (Poker-type play).
- DOUBLE JEOPARDY - DJ Wild card element of the game. All cards to be READ ALOUD, played and then placed at the bottom of this pile. DJ cards are obtained by rolling "double numbers" on the dice ie. (l&l, 2&2, 3&3, 4&4, 5&5, 6&6). NB: YOU DO NOT MOVE THIS NUMBER OF SPACES ONLY PICK UP THE TOP CARD FROM THE DJ PILE.
- ORDER Add +100 CPs to your CPR or Subtract -100 CPs from your CPR.
- NB CPR must be observed and players must miss a turn as per (G.B.B.) or apply rules of DEAL if required.
- NBj Significant "J" playing cards - indicated on back of CPR, these can only be used to counter certain DJ cards.
- PRIVILEGE is used to counter the use of a SUBPOENA card to be used against you.
- the PRIVILEGE card has two uses (BAIL - OUT & to counter a SUBPOENA).
- the INNOCENT card can be used to counter the use of any DJ card that you either pick up or an opponent proposes to use against you.
- Figure 21 shows a games set in accordance with an alternative example of the invention.
- the games set differs from the one shown in Figure 1 as the central picture 16 is slightly different - specifically, lawyers 38 and a judge 40 in the courtroom scene are not wearing wigs.
- This version is intended for markets in which custom dictates that lawyers/judges do not wear wigs in courtrooms, and may be particularly suitable for use in the United States of America.
- the courtroom scene also differs in that a cricket bat depicted in the picture in Figure 1 (on a bookshelf in the room at the bottom left) is replaced with a baseball bat 42, as may be more appropriate for the US market.
- the games board shown in Figures 1 to 9 and 21 has coloured scale lots which are marked so as to add or subtract a player's Credibility Points simply as a result of the player landing on the lots.
- each of the coloured scale lots has either a positive outcome or a negative outcome, as detailed above under the heading "Coloured Scale
- the coloured scale lots 44 are marked so as to force a player whose games piece lands on the coloured scale lots 44 to pick up a question card. The player then has to answer a question printed on the question card, and has Credibility Points added or subtracted according to whether he/she answers the question correctly or incorrectly. If the player answers correctly, they may uplift a W/E, in accordance with the markings in the relevant coloured scale lot 44.
- the question may be a true/false type question, such that this version of the games set is an educational version.
- the coloured scale lots 44 may still be coloured so as to determine the number of Credibility Points (and the type of W/E) at stake.
