Abstract
A method and a device for selectively crushing a lamp efficiently in a mass recycling system targeted at a waste fluorescent lamp. The device comprises a crushing machine and a glass receiving housing (6) for supporting the crushing machine and receiving glass chips (5) crushed by the crushing machine, wherein the crushing machine (3) is provided with a cylindrical crushing chamber (7) supported on the glass receiving housing (6), a rotary shaft (8) rotating in the crushing chamber (7) and a hammer (9), no wider gap than is required for allowing the hammer (9) to rotate is provided between the hammer (9) and the crushing chamber (7), and the crushing chamber (7) is tilted downward from the upstream end toward the downstream end and is formed at the bottom thereof with a screen (15) for allowing crushed glass chips only to pass therethrough, whereby the glass portions only of a waste fluorescent lamp are selectively crushed by the hammer (9) with an impact force only with no compression force, friction force tensile force nor shearing force acting on without crushing the base portion.
