Abstract

本発明は、不良を発生することなく、額縁領域における表示品位の向上が可能である液晶表示装置及びその液晶表示装置を提供する。本発明は、対向する一対の基板と、上記一対の基板間に設けられた液晶層と、上記一対の基板の液晶層側の表面に設けられた一対の配向膜と、上記一対の基板を狭持する一対の偏光板とを備える液晶表示装置であって、上記一対の配向膜の一方は、額縁領域に、当該配向膜が設けられた基板側の偏光板の偏光軸方向に沿って配向処理方向が規定された偏光軸方向配向領域を有し、上記一対の配向膜の他方は、偏光軸方向配向領域に対応する領域に配向処理されていない無配向処理領域を有する液晶表示装置である。
