Abstract

A drum type washing machine has an ion generating device (61) disposed above a water tank (20) and generating positive and negative ions by electric discharge, an air blowing means (2) for blowing by means of an air flow the positive and negative ions generated from the ion generating device (61), and an ion supply air passage (63) for supplying the positive and negative ions generated from the ion generating device (61) to a circulation air passage (39) through an ion supply hole (22a) formed in the upper part of the water tank (20). One end (63a) of the ion supply air passage (63) is connected to the outlet of the air blowing means (62), and the other end (63b) is disposed at a spacing opposite the ion supply hole (22a).
