Abstract
三方晶型の結晶構造を有し、Ce2O3-x(xは0以上で1未満の数を示す)で表される酸化セリウムを含むことを特徴とする脱酸素剤を開示する。この酸化セリウムは、Ce2O3-x(xは0超で1未満の数を示す)で表されることが特に好適である。この酸化セリウムには、該酸化セリウムの酸素吸収量を増大させる元素であるCa等が添加されていてもよい。この酸化セリウムは、含酸素セリウム塩又はその水和物を、還元雰囲気下に1000°C以上で焼成することで好適に製造される。あるいは、CeO2で表される酸化セリウムを、還元雰囲気下に1200°C以上で焼成することでも好適に製造される。
