Abstract

L'invention porte sur un désoxydant caractérisé par le fait qu'il présente une structure de cristal trigonal et contient l'un quelconque des oxydes de cérium de la formule Ce2O3-x (x est un nombre de 0 à moins de 1). De façon particulièrement préférée, l'oxyde de cérium est représenté par la formule Ce2O3-x (x est un nombre de plus de 0 à moins de 1). L'oxyde de cérium peut être chargé par un élément capable d'augmenter la quantité d'oxygène absorbé par l'oxyde de cérium, tel que le Ca. De préférence, l'oxyde de cérium est obtenu par cuisson d'un sel de cérium oxygéné ou d'un hydrate de celui-ci à au moins 1000 °C ou dans une atmosphère réductrice. De façon également préférée, l'oxyde de cérium est obtenu par cuisson de l'oxyde de cérium de la formule CeO2 à au moins 1200 °C dans une atmosphère réductrice.
