Abstract

A silica masterbatch which comprises (A) 100 parts by mass of an organopolysiloxane and (B) 60-200 parts by mass of silica, characterized in that when the silica masterbatch is sieved with a plain-weave gauze sieve having an opening size of 420 µm, the resultant residue on the sieve accounts for 65-85 mass% of the masterbatch. This silica masterbatch enables the silica to be satisfactorily dispersed in organopolysiloxanes, and a silica-filled silicone rubber composition can be produced therewith in a short time. When the silica masterbatch is mixed with an organopolysiloxane to obtain a silicone rubber composition and this composition is cured, the cured composition can be inhibited from having gel particles. Also provided is a silica-filled silicone rubber composition which gives a cured object reduced in the number of gel particles formed therein.
