Abstract
This invention describes a delivery aid used for abutment which will be assembled with implant fixture in patient's jaw bone. This abutment holder have crucially incised annular club at its bottom and snap fits into screw hole of abutment. So even if the shape of abutment needs to be changed, operator can deliver it without accidental fall off.
Description
Description DENTAL IMPLANT ABUTMENT HOLDER
Technical Field
[1] Provided is dental implant abutment holder which can hold implant abutment and deliver it to engage with its counterpart of installed implant fixture without falling off not to cause accidental swallowing of abutment. Background Art
[2] Recently, Dental implant treatment was widely proposed to make up for the disadvantages of conventional prosthetic work.
[3] The conventional dental implant except one body type implant comprises an implant body (fixture ) made of titanium which is embedded in jawbone, a gingiva-penetrating member which is engaged with an upper end portion of the implant body, a post core made of either titanium or gold which is screwed through the gingiva-penetrating member into a post core fixing hole provided in the implant body, an artificial tooth fixed on the post core using a securing pin or cement.
[4] Usual implant abutment holder can only be used for certain abutments which can not be modified in its shape but either custom made holder should be fabricated or abutment should be handled manually in case operator must modify the shape of abutments.
[5] These abutments are so small that it is very difficult to deliver them onto exact mating part of fixture embedded in the jaw bone and asssemble tightly using abutment screw without any kind of abutment holder.
[6] This is very cumbersome task especially in the back of mouth and sometimes patient can swallow a dropped abutment.
[7]
Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[8] Until now, a custom made abument holder should be fabricated in case abutment should be modified. If not, modified abutment can not be held during delivery into patient's mouth and can be fallen off, may cause long chair time and accidental swallowing of abutment. But it takes time and extra cost to make every holder individually to fit on each abutment.
[9]
Technical Solution
[10] It is an object of present invention to provide an instrument which can deliver and handle a selected abutment for the embedded detnal implant fixture even if those
abutment should be modified without fabricating time consuming individually custom made abutment holder.
Advantageous Effects
[11] The dental implant abutment holder described in this invention simplifies operation and help dentist to save time. Also it prevents possible problem of accidental swallowing which can decrease confidence of patient.
Brief Description of the Drawings [12] Now, the present invention will be described in detail.
[13] The dental implant holder of this invention snap fits into abutment screw hole and can always hold selected abutment even if its shape is changed. [14] Fig. 1 to 8 illustrate sequential order of abutment holder assembles onto fixture embedded in the jaw bone and fig 9 is an example of abutment holder which can be used for a ready made abutment that should not be changed in its shape. [15] Fig 1 shows cross-sectional view of abument holder(lOO) described in this invention.
It consists of crucially incised anular club(13 ) at its bottom, coaxially projected plastic cylindrical post(12) in the middle and round flange(l 1) at the top end. [16] Fig 2 is an underneath plan view of Fig 1 abutment holder and shows crucially incised anular club. This anular club is preferably made of plastic material which have elasticity like peek or acetal resin.
[17] Fig 3 illustrates fixture embedded in jaw bone.
[18] Fig 4 is cross sectoinal view of abutment(31) which will be assembled on top of fixture.
[19] Fig 5 illustrates abutment holder(lOO) snap-fitted into abutment(31).
[20] Fig 6 is cross-sectional view of side elevation of delivered condition of abutment(31) on it's mating part of fixture(41) by abutment holder(lOO). [21] Fig 7 illustrates abutment is held and pushed down by tweezer(51) to separate holder(lOO) from abutment(31). [22] Fig 8 shows assembled condition of abutment(31) onto fixture(41) using abutment screw(81) after it is seperated from abutment holder(lOO). [23] Fig 9 illustrates an example of previously developed abutment holder(61) which is designed to grasp outside of abutment so that it cannot be used in case the shape of abutment need to be changed. [24] Fig 10, 11 shows assembled condition of abutment which cannot be modified(71) with abutment holder described in fig 9. [25]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [26] Abutment holder which snap fits into screw hole of abutment consists of crucially
incised anular club at its bottom, coaxially projected plastic cylindrical post in the middle and handle flange at the top end. [27]
Mode for the Invention
[28] To achieve above mentioned objects, this abutment holder does not grasp outside of abutment unlike other conventional abutment holder. Instead annular club formed at the bottom of abutment holder, divided into 2 to 6 parts depending on the diameter, snap fits into abutment screw hole which does not change its shape all the time so that it can hold and deliver even modified abutment onto fixtures embedded in patient's jaw.
[29] The diameter of this anular club can vary depending on the diameter of screw hole of each specific abutment.
[30]
Industrial Applicability
[31] Although several embodiments were specifically exampled to achieve above mentioned objects, various modifications can be made by the person skilled in the art. So the realm of this invention should not be confined to the specific example described and should be decided what is claimed by the following.
[32]
Claims
[1] Abutment holder which snap fits into screw hole of abutment consists of crucially incised anular club at its bottom, coaxially projected plastic cylindrical post in the middle and handle flange at the top end.
[2] In claim 1, preferably this abutment holder is made of plastic material but it can be made of either stainless steel or titanium. Also it is perferable to make crucially incised anular club but can be incised 2 to 6 parts depending on diameter of anular club and manufacturer's preference.
