Abstract

プラズマディスプレイ装置において、パネルの表示状態が全黒である(1フィールド期間にわたって全ての画素が黒を表示する)場合の輝度を低減する。 初期化期間のうち、複数の走査電極(SCi)に第1の電位から第2の電位(-Vad+Vset2)に下降する第1のランプ波形(RW2)が印加される第1の期間(t7~t8)内において、複数の維持電極(SUi)に対し、前記全黒でない場合には、第2の期間(t7a~t8)で第3の電位(Ve1)から第4の電位(Ve1-Vf2)に下降する第2のランプ波形が印加され、前記全黒である場合には、前記第2の期間(t7a~t8)よりも長い第3の期間(t7x~t8)で前記第3の電位(Ve1)から第5の電位(Ve1-Vf2-Vu)に下降する第3のランプ波形(RW40)が印加される。 また、前記全黒である場合には、書込み期間において、前記複数の走査電極(SCi)に走査パルス(Pa)は印加されない。
