Abstract

 狭視野角状態において色づきのない純黒表示が得られ、狭視野角状態の遮蔽能力が格段に向上された視野角制御装置と、それを用いたディスプレイとを提供する。液晶の複屈折を利用して視野角を広視野角状態と狭視野角状態との間で切替える視野角制御用液晶パネル(2)において、当該視野角制御用液晶パネル(2)のVT(電圧-透過率)特性を調整するために、液晶を挟持する一対の透光性基板(201,202)の少なくとも一方側において、表示用液晶パネル(1)の少なくとも一色の絵素に相対する箇所に、液晶の電圧-透過率特性を調整するために、互いに異なる周波数の交流電圧が印加される透光性電極膜(205r、205g,206b)を設ける。
